1977 Toyota Celica St 5 Speed Ra24 on 2040-cars
Naperville, Illinois, United States
Up for sale is a 1977 Toyota Celica ST 5-speed. I hate to sell this car because it is so rare in this condition, but I think it is time to change it up. This is the cleanest original 1st gen RA24 Celica that you are going to find. This car was originally from Las Vegas its entire life until a couple of years ago. This car has never seen a winter and it shows. There is no rust on this car with the exception of a nickle sized area that is just starting behind the right rear wheel and it can be seen in the pictures. Most of these have rusted out over the years making them extremely rare. This particular model has the 2.2L 20R engine mated to a W50 5-speed transmission. This car is completely original with the exception of an aftermarket header. I am including the original exhaust manifold with the sale though should you chose to put that on. The only area that could use some attention is that there is a slight exhaust leak where the header meets the exhaust. Other then that this car runs and drives just like the day it rolled off the showroom floor. I have daily driven this car and taken it on road trips. I would not hesitate taking this on a long journey. You really get into this car and be transported back in time. The interior is in great shape with the exception of a few tears in the front seats and a couple of cracks in the dash. Other than those two items, it is very clean and original. Everything works on the car including the original radio. The brakes and tires are all in good shape. The car was originally yellow and it got painted white at some point in its life. The paint job is in good shape. I would call it a 5 footer. There are just a couple spots with nicks in it. The underside of this car is just a clean as the top side. I have worked for many years as a vintage british car restoration specialist and I know the difference between how a tight old car feels and a loose old car feels. This one feels tight just like new. The doors close ultra smooth. I can keep going on and on about this car because of how rare it is to find one like this. A lot of people say rust free and that changes when you start taking the interior apart. I can assure you that I have been through this car and it is truly rust free with the exception of that one spot I mentioned and is pictured. This car turns heads more than any other car I have owned. Most people do not even know what it is. Also, if you are interested, after the auction I can include a rare set of period 15x8 Work Ewing iii wheels with brand new tires on them. That would be for an additional fee. The wheels that are included in the auction are the steel ones shown on the car. If you have any questions, just ask. Thanks for looking and happy bidding.
If you have fewer than 5 feedback or recent bad feedback please e-mail me first. I have had many problems on here with non-paying bidders. This is a real auction for a real car. Only bid if you have the money to pay. |

Shuttle-hauling Tundra finds permanent home in science exhibit
Mon, 03 Jun 2013The idea of lifting a full-size pickup truck completely off the ground by hand might seem as likely as, say, said pickup truck towing a 150,000-pound space shuttle, but... hurray, physics! The same Toyota Tundra that towed the Space Shuttle Endeavour to its final resting place at the California Science Center is now on permanent display there as an exhibit that shows how a lever works.
Like all levers, this exhibit uses a fulcrum allowing people other than Superman to lift the 5,625-pound pickup (plus an extra 1,000 pounds for the rig). That's almost as impressive as the Tundra pulling 17 times its rated towing capacity back in October. Regardless, Toyota is once again cashing in on the publicity stunt and visitors to the science center get a live demonstration of a simple machine - we call that a win-win.
Toyota may put Mirai hydrogen fuel cell powertrain into a Lexus
Wed, Dec 24 2014Toyota is hoping to define the world of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles with its uniquely styled Mirai sedan in a fashion similar to the way the Prius pops into people's minds when they think of a hybrid. The Japanese automaker believes it can sell about 700 FCEVs worldwide in the first year alone and build rapidly from there to an estimated 3,000 sales in the US by 2017. Of course, not everyone is completely enamored with the Mirai's design. Toyota is rumored to have an alternative in the works to quell some of those naysayers, possibly taking flagship form with a new Lexus LS powered by fuel-cell tech. The LS FCEV could be unveiled by 2017 to sit at the very top of brand's lineup. According to an inside source speaking to the Australian website Motoring, the front end would feature larger air intakes to cool the electrical components. The fuel cell would reportedly be positioned under the front seat, and the hydrogen tanks would be located under and behind the rear seat. Somehow, Motoring claims that all of this might be lighter than the current LS600hL hybrid, to the tune about 440 pounds. The model is also claimed to offer a range of about 239 miles, just a bit shy of the Mirai's roughly 300 miles. Assuming this vehicle actually exists, the cost for buyers of this flagship would almost certainly ring up at more than the LS600hL's $120,440 base price. Autoblog has reached out to Toyota for any further info about this rumor, one way or the other. If we hear back, we'll update this story with the details. Toyota's production fuel cell car to cost between $50-100k
Fri, 03 May 2013
While the cost of building a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle continues to go down over time, reports over the last few years have steadily maintained that the first Toyota hydrogen-powered vehicles for customers should ring up for around $50,000. Company officials cited this figure way back in 2010, and have reiterated it in subsequent years.
So, while a recent Automotive News report about the cost of Toyota's 2015 Hydrogen car doesn't offer up any new figures, it does offer an interesting pricing wrinkle. According to the report, the "cost factor" for the hydrogen vehicles will be in the $50k ballpark, meaning the retail price could be anywhere from there, up to as much as around $100,000.
