I am selling my 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX. I bought the car from a local dealer on a trade in. I have owned the car for around two years, and I believe I am the second owner. When I bought the car, it had about 14K miles. It now has just under 25K. I originally bought it as my every-day driver, but after a few months, decided to get a truck and keep this as my toy. I can no longer afford to have both of them, so it is time to see it go to a better home. The car has been fantastic fun. I will really hate to see it go.

The car is the base model WRX with the EJ255 boxer turbo engine, all wheel drive, and manual gearbox. It is the WR Blue with the standard black interior. It comes with all of the standard things that come with this year (ie hill start assist, cruise, tilt, CD/MP3, power windows, locks, etc.). I believe the only option it has is the Bluetooth phone. Everything on the car works great. It also has some chrome Subaru license plate frames and both all weather and cloth floor mats (Subaru accessories). The car also does have a few mods done to it, but not a lot. Most of them actually came on the car when I bought it:

Motegi 18in MR118 wheels.

Tires are Kumhos (in fair shape, but not great)

Cobb downpipe

SPT cat back (This is a 2010 SPT exhaust, so it only has the twin tips vs. quad. It sets in a little father than 2011 ones too)

Cobb Accessport with Stage 2 tune (91 Octane tune that came with it)

Cobb turbo heat shield

Kartboy short shifter with front and rear shifter bushings

20% Window tint all around

The car does have a few minor flaws on it. It has a small ding above the passenger front door. It was like this when I bought it. It looks like hail damage, but with there only being one, someone must have dropped something on it. It is very small, and was even hard to get to show up in the pictures. Also, there are two scrapes on the under side of the front bumper. This happened the first week I owned the car. I came down a curb that had some ice I couldn't see, so it scratched it pretty good. You cannot actually see it from the front of the car, but you can see it from the underside. Other than that, the car is in overall great shape, both mechanically and visually.

Pick up/shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. A deposit of $500 within two business days is also required (will accept Pay Pal). I tried to think of as many things as possible, but if I forgot anything, I will add it later. Please call me if you have any questions. Thanks, Andrew (309-277-2487)

Subaru WRX and STI meet at the dyno with interesting results

Wed, 26 Feb 2014

Road and Track recently put the 2015 Subaru WRX and the 2015 WRX STI through a battery of dyno tests to find out not only how much difference there is between their two engines, but what kind of differences there are. The WRX gets the company's new FA20 2.0-liter boxer four-cylinder engine with features like a twin-scroll turbocharger, direct injection and variable valve timing on its two cams. The WRX STI stands pat with the older EJ-Series motor, meaning a 2.5-liter boxer four-cylinder with port fuel injection and carryover turbo lag. Subaru pegs the $26,295 WRX at 268 horsepower, 258 pound-feet of torque and an "extremely conservative" 0-60 mile per hour time of 5.4 seconds. The $34,495 STI clocks in at 305 hp and 290 lb-ft with a 0-60 mph time of 5.1 seconds. Ok, fight.
R&T's dyno runs sussed power numbers at the wheel of 223 hp and 245 lb-ft for the WRX, 247 hp and 243 lb-ft for the STI, then went on to demonstrate in numbers what everyone knew: that the WRX consistently puts out more of its torque earlier than the STI and achieves full boost almost three seconds quicker. On the other hand, on the track, the STI was also shown to have a conservative official 0-60 mph time, stopping the timer at 4.8 seconds compared to the WRX's 5.2 seconds.
The mag says it has comprehensive results coming from its "complete battery of tests," but for now, you can scrutinize their dyno charts and let the battle continue about which one you'd rather put your money down for.

Nissan exec Andy Palmer derides Toyobaru coupes as 'midlife crisis' cars

Mon, 28 Oct 2013

Andy Palmer, Nissan's executive vice president, does not like the Scion FR-S or Subaru BRZ. To us, that's like saying you enjoy barbecuing puppies, but we'll let him slide, because his statements about the Toyobaru twins are much, much more than just idle trash talk.
Speaking to Motor Trend's Nate Martinez, Palmer said, "Do we have any competitors [in the small, rear-drive coupe segment]? Are you talking about the Subaru [BRZ]? It was a car designed for a 50-year-old. It's for a midlife crisis. That's not what we do." Strong words, but what followed was even better.
"Are you coming to the Tokyo Motor Show? You'll see the answer to the midlife crisis. Except it won't be for the midlife crisis." So, if you were wondering whether Nissan is working on a competitor to the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ, the answer seems to be a resounding "yes."

Best. Year. Ever. Subaru breaks yearly and monthly sales records in 2017

Wed, Jan 3 2018

After a generally good sales year for most car manufacturers, one company had a spectacular year: Subaru. The company reported with its end-of-year sales that 2017 was it's best sales year of all time. The total was 647,956 vehicles sold over the 12 months. Not only that, but December was also the best month of sales the company has ever seen with 63,342 cars sold. That's nearly 10 percent of the annual sales in one month. As far as individual models go, the Impreza and Crosstrek each had their best month in December and 2017 was each model's best year. The Impreza's year was especially impressive with sales jumping more than 55 percent compared with 2016. It was also the best year for Outback. Subaru credits some of its strong December to its "Share the Love" promotion that donated $250 of each new car purchase to one of a selection of charities. But a big part of Subaru's sales success has to be due to the fact that most of its products are in the hottest car market around: crossovers. The fact that its products are highly competitive against other similar vehicles certainly helps too. This is partly evident by the fact that year-to-year, every crossover model with the exception of the aging Forester saw a sales increase. Meanwhile, every traditional car (Legacy, WRX/STI and BRZ) with the exception of the redesigned Impreza had lower sales for the year. So if you ever wonder why companies aren't racing to release new sedans and coupes, this is why. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.
