I just did a full service on it, cleaned and treated the K&N filter, cleaned the whole MAF area, upgraded the headlights, put new Cooper Zeon RS3-A all-season performance tires on, brand new Iridiums plugs in it and recently just serviced the rear end and transmission last year = good to go for very long time.

**As thousands know, the Cobb Accessport is a truly amazing tool for tuning, diagnostics, reading/clearing codes, Economy mode, Valet mode, Anti-theft mode, data logging, live data, fuel analysis, performance analysis, and SO much more. It really re-birthed this already quick car, especially with that Pro Tune map, specifically made for this individual vehicle. Though loaded with some OTS maps, the Protune Map is necessary for maximum performance and safety while running with these specific current mods. Still, it's NOT the SLIGHTEST BIT rough at all; it's still my super-reliable daily driver and I love it. It saves $$ on gas and repairs. They originally cost $550 - $600; here, it's included with vehicle purchase.

Blistering performance: Check. Reliability and refinement: Check. Safety: Check. 4door/4 passengers: Check. Economy: amazingly enough, Check : (4 grown adults, luggage, full tank of gas, running 5 hrs in a hurry up and over mountain ranges in late July, 2013 with the AC on the whole time and STILL got 25 mpg according to the Cobb AccessPort AND by my own fuel calculations.
I was shocked!)

NADA says, for a similarly equipped Suby, the retailer would sell it to you for around $25,700. WOW.I have seen MANY cars that were sloppy and ignorantly modded go for more than I'm asking (sadly). This car has ONLY the highest quality maintenance and performance parts. I already miss her. Just had a dealership manager and fellow enthusiast in Portland tell me he'd BUY this car for more than the reserve that I'm asking here. Of course he's there to MAKE money, so he's confident that he'd sell it to you for at least $24k or more. Saw one that was half the car this beauty is, for sale for 30k! This car is not ordinary; it's a meticulously maintained, comfortable, reliable, modest beast that will NOT leave you dissatisfied.

Pay asking price to receive free: Touch up paint, Downpipe Heat Wrap, a set of BRAND NEW Iridium spark plugs, remaining OEM parts that have been removed due to upgrades, all remaining Subaru-specific fluids and the Subaru-specific T-9 Torx socket for transmission, Cobb Accessport original box.
I don't mind meeting half-way to somewhere reasonable from Eastern Oregon (it's in La Grande), weather-permitting, to deliver it after full payment has cleared.

Be SMART! --> Get Better performance than an STi WITHOUT having to pay the much higher STi insurance prices! = WIN / WIN. (better reliability than most STi's, too)

Paid $27 - $28K brand new in '07. It's been garaged and maintained & modified with excellence. In a fair world, (or if it were a house, lol) it'd sell for about $34K, but unfortunately, it doesn't work that way in the auto world. :( Only selling it for such a reasonable price to pay off recently-bought truck.

(Never any smoking, drinking or pets in or around vehicle, btw.)

2018 Hyundai Kona vs other small crossovers: How they compare on paper

Tue, Apr 10 2018

The 2018 Hyundai Kona is the hottest new thing in the hottest new segment: subcompact crossovers. Or B-segment SUVs. Or whatever you might want to call this hodge-podge collection of vehicles of vaguely similar specs. Each is pretty much just a raised hatchback in some form (or literally in the case of one entry), skewing the increasingly vague line between car and SUV. If there was ever a segment that deserved the term "crossover" for more reasons than just its car-based unibody architecture, this would be it. Now, for this specs and photos comparison, we lined up the new 2018 Kona with an appropriate variety from that hodge-podge. Most are those that people are actually cross-shopping the Kona against — the Honda HR-V, Toyota C-HR and Subaru Crosstrek — while the Kia Soul and Jeep Renegade line up well in other regards. There are certainly others we could've included, but we're frankly a little pressed for spreadsheet space, and if you really want to know how a Chevrolet Trax, Fiat 500X or Ford EcoSport would've stacked up, you can always use our Compare Cars feature. (You can also check out our Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross comparison that includes a few larger choices) Performance, fuel economy and drivetrains Immediately you can see how all over the map this segment is. True, all but the Jeep come with a standard naturally aspirated four-cylinder and fairly comparable horsepower. Torque differs, but not wildly so. Then things get nuts. Some are automatic only, the Toyota is CVT only, the Honda and Subaru come with a manual standard and offer a CVT as an option. The Renegade's base engine is manual-only ... in 2018. Of course, then things flip-flop with the Renegade's upgrade being naturally aspirated and the Hyundai and Kia offering turbocharged mills. The Korean corporate cousins also come with automated manuals, whereas the Renegade has a box with nine gears selected by a lethargic monkey. Then there's the drivetrain. The C-HR is front-drive only, which pretty much cements the Soul's place in a segment it arguably created despite not offering all-wheel drive. That's the only way to get the Crosstrek, while the Honda and Hyundai offer a typical option of a part-time system. In Jeep fashion, the Renegade's "four-wheel drive" systems differ by trim level.

Toyota 86 most likely to get more power through more displacement? [w/poll]

Wed, 21 Aug 2013

The Sydney Morning Herald has spoken to Tetsuya Tada, chief engineer of the Toyota 86 (our version of it, the Scion FR-S, is pictured above), and they've been promised that more power is on the way. We've heard a lot of speculation about a more powerful Toyobaru since before the standard model was even launched. The only question now is how the power will be delivered, and among the engine concepts we've already heard about - turbo, supercharger, twin-charged, hybrid - is a new one: more displacement.
Tada said that an engine with more displacement than the current coupe's 2.0 liters is being tested alongside a turbocharged and a hybrid-assisted motor. The SMH cites "inside sources" as saying the displacement option is the one likely to get the go-ahead, and suggests increased bore and stroke will see the engine grow to 2.5 liters, horsepower to about 250 - a 50-hp increase over the present car.
While that's apparently the betting man's solution for the long-awaited increase in gumption, what happens with the next generation could be more wide open than we suspected. According to the report, Tada "hinted that [a successor] could be a radically different car, potentially dropping the boxer engine altogether." He said once they've sorted out the concept for the second generation car, then they'll sort out an engine. That's where a turbo option could come to market, perhaps the turbocharged four-cylinder Toyota is developing for the Lexus NX crossover or a hybrid system that uses a capacitor.
