I am the owner of MrEd`s Motor...

I am the owner of MrEd`s MotorWorks, LLC. in Colorado Springs CO. I was, in the past, also the manager of this particular Econ Lube n Tune. I have for years sent my customers to them for oil changes and other fluid maintenance services as they can perform these services for less than I can and I like to save my customers money whenever possible. It has come to my attention that the new management has taken to the... view more hard sell approach and is no longer being honest about the needs of the customers vehicle. They are now exaggerating the need for services and pushing upsell items that are not needed. The customer is told that their car is on the verge of extreme failures for minor problems. Today one of my customers returned to me after being told that her car was "out of coolant" and that her transmission fluid was "black" and needed to be change "right now" to avoid transmission failure. Upon inspection I found that her coolant overflow bottle was slightly low and the transmission fluid was slightly discolored (just beginning to turn orange). While it is true these issues do need to be addressed, the car is in no way in danger of immanent failure. When I called the manager to ask about this he all but called my customer a liar and claimed not to have said any of the things she relayed to me. I trust my customer`s word as I have known her for quite some time and know her to be a very honest person. As a businessman with 30yrs experience in the field, I completely understand the need for upsell and I have no problem with this practice. I do on the other hand take issue with a company using these methods to push for an upsell. It is tactics such as these that give auto technicians in general a bad name. I firmly believe that "scare tactics" are wholeheartedly wrong and bad business practice. I will no longer be sending my customers to this company and recommend that if you are in need of maintenance services on your vehicle that you look elsewhere. Any company that feels the need to exaggerate the need for services and the need to try to scare their customers into getting something done "right now" is a company that can not be trusted to tell you what needs to be done, period. Convenient, Quick, and Honest

I have taken my cars to this location over the years and have always been satisfied. In recent years, I`ve had to pleasure to work with Bear. I find him to be professional, ethical, and very good on following through. I will continue to bring my cars to this location only, as they have never let me down.
