Incompetence at it finest

Went in at 9:am on Saturday morning and told Bill what I thought the problem was, he demanded we do the diagnostic to be sure (for $31). Told me how much it would be, I told him do the job. He then called me at 4:30pm and said the problem was something else (exactly what I told him I thought the problem was). Not to mention it would be an extra $600, but since the parts place is closed we can?ˆ™t do it until Monday. DECATUR""S Finest GUESSING Mechanic :have unlimited budget!

I was told by this repair shop I needed a power steering pump. I took the car in with it only leaking fluid. I paid 500+ for the repairs. I picked the car up and after driving it for a short while it started squealing. I called back for several days and was informed each time it takes about 500 driving miles to break it in and that the squealing would stop. After the last call Saturday July 31st I went to drive the c... view morear Sunday and it was impossible to even turn the steering wheel. None of this was wrong with my car before. I physically took the car back on Thursday when I had someone to follow me there. I was called later that day and told I now need a rack and pinion and steering replacement, another 500+ repair job. I informed his employee that none of this was happening before they worked on it and that they should have had me bring the car back the first day I called. It seems highly possible that they charged me for a power steering pump I did not need and on top of that instructing me to drive it for 500 miles was not a good idea. While I waited for his employee to call back I called another mechanic that I have used and trust in Jasper GA. He confirmed that one of those two things most likely happened. They replaced the wrong part or made an error that lead to the other issue. He firmly said a new pump should not squeal like that. I called 1 Decatur auto back and informed them of this and the employee said it seemed reasonable that I should only have to pay for parts if at all and he would have the owner come look at it if I could leave it till Friday. I said ok. I get a call back Friday August the 5th from the employee and the owner confirmed that`s what I needed repaired and basically offered nothing but about A 100 BUCKS OFF. This is unacceptable and I told him I would get a ride to get the car and I have filed suit for my money back from the 1st repair based on their guessing.
Oh, last note...took the car in to recheck and it was full of fluid as it had been for the few days I drove it, it never leaked anymore. Picked it and made it a 100 feet couldn`t even steer it. Magically, the power steering reservoir was completely empty! So you add that up! Not to mention how dangerous and irresponsible for the new pump they just put on. Very worried what else they did it..

I have finally found Decatur?ˆ™s best kept secret. It?ˆ™s #1 Decatur ProAuto. I had a Toyota Camay 1990 and had it towed to them and they fixed this car?ˆ™s problems about 2 years ago, this car had sat idle for 2 years un-driven and they got it running. I have kept going back to them because they knew this car. I have to say they have recommended maintenance but I declined. They recommended preventive maintenance at ... view morethat time but I declined, I got the oil change and they have kept putting oil in the car when it was low on oil. Today I went to get the oil changed and asked them to look at the light indicator on the dash the said the bulb was out. They called and told me I needed 2 belts and they fixed the light on the dash by finding the bulbs that were bad, I had checked the bulbs myself and they were all fine,. I don?ˆ™t know how they found the burned out bulbs and got the light to go out on the dash but they did. If I had gone to Toyota, it would have cost me a bundle. These mechanics are top notch and I disagree with the other evaluations. These mechanics have stayed late to work on my car in the past and who would do that? They know what they are doing and saved me money. This is Decatur?ˆ™s best kept secrete and I know you will get your money?ˆ™s worth going here. If you think the service mangier is rude. Remember he is not the one working on your car.! He will call and tell you the status on the repair and what more cab you wan? He is not as friendly as the prior guy but he is friendly and OK. Terrible customer service!!!!!

I strongly suggest taking your business elsewhere. The service writer is a rude jerk. Please dont give them any of your money!
