1976 Saab 99 Ems U.s. Version Not 850 900 9000 on 2040-cars
Clementon, New Jersey, United States
This is a U.S. version 1976 Saab 99 ems. This must be one of the cleanest, most rust free, original, and low mile 99 ems' survining. I am only the second registered owner of the vehicle. The prior TX owner purchased the car with approximately 62,000 miles and put the additional 929 miles on the odometer. The prior TX owner stated the car ran fine when he bought it almost 8 years ago, but that it needed brake and AC work. The prior TX owner did not have time to attend to the car so it primarily sat in his garage. I have confirmed in the approximate two years of ownership that the car does need its brake master cylinder replaced or rebuilt. I have not diagnosed or attempt to repair the AC, but all the components such as the compressor and controls appear to be present. Since the car sat for some time, I have done extensive work on the fuel system including dropping and relining the fuel tank, replacing the fuel pump, fuel accumulator, most fuel lines, and fuel filter. The car now cranks and starts well but it has a hard time remaining running. I suspect the fuel system requires further tweaking. I am very reluctantly selling this car but I really do not have further time to attend to it and the garage space its occupied while under my ownership will no longer be available. The car was bought my the prior TX owner from the original owner in California. The original CA owner was an older gentlemen and did not use the car much over the years and typically kept it garaged. This car is as original as when it left the showroom in 1976. The interior is in impecable condition with no rips, no stains, and not really even any wear on the seats or carpet. (Please note, the dash has no cracks but material on the right side has started to pull back/shrink and the head liner is drooping although still in nice shape (see pictures).) It has the oringial EMS details such as the gauges, badging, stripes, special front grill, and air dam. The body is very solid, rust free, straight, and clean with no signs of any kind of body work. The paint is original and only slightly dulled as one would expect from nearly a 40 year old car. The paint does have one small blemish in the left rear quarter panel area (see picture). The wheels are the original EMS "soccer ball" type. The bumpers are straight and clean. This car does not have a radio or the plastic housing underneath the middle of the dash to house a radio. I do not believe a radio was ever equiped with this car. In addition, the rear antenna is missing but the wiring is present. The clutch and hydraulics all worked well according to the prior TX owner, however since the car has been sitting for 6 years, it is being sold as is. I am hoping a Saab enthusiast will find this a very worthy car to complete. You will not be disappointed in the original condition of this car. The car comes with a clear PA title and Saab owners manual. The buyer will have to arrange and pay for transport. I'm happy to help assist with arangement where possible. I'm not familiar with overseas shipping so please contact me prior to bidding if you are an overseas bidder. Full payment must be received within 3 days of auction end. A deposit of $1,000 is expected within 24 hours of auction end. I reserve the right to end this auction early should it be sold elsewhere as this car is for sale locally as well. My feedback speaks for itself. Please only bid if you are seriously interested. Do not waste my time or the time of serious bidders. Thank you for your interest and please let me know if you have any questions.

Petrolicious keeps our love of the Saab Sonett aflame
Wed, 19 Mar 2014German auto designs lean toward function and purpose. Italian designers deliver passion and beauty. The Brits, majesty. American cars, brashness and authority. If you want a funky design, though, you go to Sweden. The land of cheap, do-it-yourself furniture and delicious meatballs knows a thing or six about style and design, and while that character is only now reemerging thanks to a certain string of Volvo concepts, it use to be that Saab was the authority on penning some of the industry's more unique designs.
Take the beautiful Sonett for example - a small coupe whose appearance is a funky mishmash of a Porsche 911 and a Bugeyed Sprite with just a hint of a Citroën DS (it's that convex rear window). It's a positively striking car, made more unique by its two-stroke, three-cylinder powertrain and four-on-the-tree manual transmission. With just 70 horsepower hauling about 1,500 pounds of Swedish style, the Sonett strikes us as an ideal alternative to some of the English sports cars of its day, particularly for those that are looking for something beyond your average MG or Triumph.
For Glenn Roberts, the Sonett was a part of his childhood. His family owned example was originally a special-order item by his parents in 1967. He bought the car from them 13 years later and has never looked back, completing a restoration in 2004. With a story like that, it's not surprising that Roberts and his silver Sonett are the most recent pairing to get some attention from Petrolicious.
NEVS Sango autonomous shuttle rises from the ashes of Saab
Sat, Jul 4 2020National Electric Vehicles Sweden (NEVS), the company that purchased Saab's bankrupt carcass in 2012, has introduced an autonomous ride-sharing shuttle named Sango and announced plans to test it in real-world conditions. It also outlined a system named PONS that will allow operators and riders to connect with the shuttle. Saab famously claimed its cars were born from jets, but the Sango looks more like something you'd find in a store that sells small kitchen appliances than on an aircraft carrier sailing across the Atlantic. It wasn't designed to go fast, or to deliver engaging handling. Stylists intentionally gave it a boxy silhouette to maximize interior space and let operators offer three cabin configurations called private, social, and family, respectively. Its six seats can be moved around and rotated as needed, and the passengers can raise privacy walls if they don't feel like socializing with fellow riders. The shuttle's seating capacity drops to four with the walls raised. Chinese technology firm AutoX provided the Sango's self-driving hardware and software, though NEVS pointed out its shuttle is modular enough to use any autonomous system on the market. This is a wise strategy that widens its target audience. Operators will in theory be able to choose whether they want to purchase a turn-key self-driving shuttle or buy the basic structure and stuff their own technology into it. NEVS grouped the app customers will use to request a ride and a fleet management system into a software package it named PONS. Technical specifications haven't been released. All we know is that it's electric. NEVS confidently stated autonomous shuttles are closer to the mainstream than many think. "Getting from A to B with self-driving electric vehicles is not as far off as perhaps the car industry is implying. The era of one person per car and the era of owning a car are soon things of the past," opined Anna Haupt, the company's vice president of mobility solutions, in a statement. Engineers have started testing the first running Sango prototype at NEVS' headquarters in Trollhattan, Sweden. Looking ahead, the company plans to deploy a fleet of 10 autonomous shuttles in Stockholm, where they will be used by members of the general public. Autoblog learned from a company representative that testing will probably start in 2022, and that the firm is taking COVID-19-related concerns into account.
Spyker to appeal dismissal of Saab lawsuit against GM
Fri, 21 Jun 2013It seems as if Spyker CEO Victor Muller has made a decision on whether or not to pursue a legal battle between his company and General Motors. Spyker has announced it will appeal a US District Court decision to throw out the company's lawsuit against GM. As you may recall, on June 10 Judge Gershwin Drain ruled tht GM had a right to approve or disapprove Spyker's sale of Saab to Zhejiang Youngman Lotus Automobile. Spyker sued GM for some $3 billion, claiming that the American automaker had forced Saab into bankruptcy by stopping Spyker from transferring intellectual property to its Chinese partner.
Spyker has said only that it plans to appeal the decision. Until now, the company has been silent about the ruling. GM, meanwhile, has said it is pleased with the original outcome. You can read the quick Spyker press release below for more information.
