1987 Rolls Royce Silver Spur Acrylic White With Burr Walnut Woodworking on 2040-cars
|
Famous for sophistication and durability, this spectacular sedan features an acrylic white exterior with a tan hardtop vinyl roof. As a 1987 model, it is the first year that the Rolls Royce Silver Spur prominently displayed the now famous Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament supported by the one-piece air-dam. The interior features tan butter leather surrounded by magnificent burr walnut woodwork throughout, including door panels, veneer picnic trays in backseat, instrument panel with cross-banding and boxwood inlay and a two-toned steering wheel. The engine boasts a 220-hp, 6.75-liter aluminum V-8 with Bosch fuel injection and anti-lock brakes on an extended wheel base, chrome wheels and has only 71,535 original miles. With only 1600 of the 1987 Silver Spur produced, this car comes with nearly every conceivable option and is considered one of the best examples of this final series of Rolls Royce. Rolls Royce no longer exists as it had for nearly 100 years as it is now owned by BMW. The care and craftsmanship that went into building this motorcar, when Rolls Royce was truly building the world’s finest motorcar in Crewe, England are far superior to those they are mass-producing today! Rolls-Royce Wraith convertible planned, SUV rumors kicked to the curb
Mon, 29 Apr 2013Seeing as it adheres to the exotic car template we've known for years, it should surprise no one that the next model from Rolls-Royce will reportedly be a convertible version of the Wraith. When the coupe is on its way to dealers at the end of this year, company CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös has told Autocar that the British luxury marque start applying itself to the convertible.
At no time will they apply themselves to an SUV, though. Still sticking to its brand-value guns, Müller-Ötvös says that an SUV wouldn't have that trademark Rolls-Royce feeling and that such a vehicle hasn't even been discussed. Having heard this before from other brands, we can't help but suspect that one day in the future we'll hear the phrase, "Oh, but this is the Rolls-Royce of SUVs."
The investment in an SUV would also mean a huge investment in the factory at Goodwood, however, since Wraith production is expected to need three shifts and raise levels to near capacity. And forget about building anything from The Spirit of Ecstasy somewhere else, Müller-Ötvös saying, "Rolls-Royces are built in Goodwood."
'Most expensive safety deposit box in the world' has a Rolls-Royce ferry
Wed, Dec 4 2019Ultra-high-end security and storage company International Bank Vaults (IBV) has several locations around the world, but as of next week, none will be more exclusive than the London branch. IBV is set to open a new vault with what's claimed to be the most expensive safety deposit boxes in the world. With price come perks, however, including a personal Rolls-Royce Ghost chauffeur to take customers to and from the vault. According to The Guardian, IBV, owned by South African millionaire Ashok Sewnarain, decided to open the new vault as a response to rapidly increasing demand for private wealth storage from the world's richest people. “We wonÂ’t deal with millionaires," managing director of the new facility Sean Hoey said. "We will be dealing only with billionaires.” For the top tier of the rich, a full room can be rented out for about $3.3 million per year. On a much lower scale, the cheapest available safety deposit box will cost about $785 to rent per year. Those boxes are pretty small, however, at about two inches high, 6.3 inches wide, and 19.3 inches deep. Hoey says it's enough space to store jewelry or "a fair few gold bars." At this location, when the customers need to deposit or withdrawal spare gold bars in between polishing sessions, a chauffeur will arrive in a Rolls-Royce Ghost for proper luxury transportation. To get to the underground vault, two door people will take clients through fingerprint and iris scans. The vault itself is secured from theft attempts by steel lining in the walls, ceiling, and floor. Read more and see photos of the building on The Guardian. This content is hosted by a third party. The Rolls-Royce Cullinan spied in production bodywork again
Thu, Feb 9 2017The Rolls-Royce Phantom is a massive vehicle. It's far larger in person than it appears to be in photos. It rivals the Ford F-150 in overall length and width, and remember this is a sedan. If the same characteristic holds true for the upcoming Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV, as these new spy photos show, this is going to be a luxury apartment on wheels. We've seen photos of the Cullinan before, and this one doesn't appear to be too far removed from that model. The brick-like shape remains, as do all the typical Rolls-Royce touches like the upright grille and suicide doors. Out back, we can see rectangular exhaust tips and a low-opening tailgate. The prototype taillights appear to flow into the tailgate. The overall style is all about clean lines and as creating as few curves as possible. It's probably going to be described as handsome far more than it will be described as pretty. It should be no surprise that the Cullinan is as big as it its. It's supposed to share a platform with the upcoming Phantom replacement. Expect all wheel drive and a turbocharged V12, though a plug-in hybrid variant is rumored to be in the works. Expect lots of aluminum to try and keep the weight down. The prototype looks pretty far along, so look for the final version sometime within the next year or so.
