2001 Porsche Boxster S - Very Low Miles - Excellent Condition - Needs Nothing on 2040-cars

You are bidding on a 2001 Porsche Boxster S. It is Forest Green Metallic with a Tan leather interior and has just 41,xxx miles. Everything works perfectly as it should, and it runs like a dream. The interior is exceptional with no flaws, and the exterior is in great shape with some scratches on the front bumper area (from the previous owner's wife bumping into a shelf and a couple of things falling on it). It has received regular oil changes and had the ignition replaced last year at Porsche of Tyson's corner. Rear tires are Michelins with near full tread, and the front tires were replaced a few years ago. The engine is smooth and purrs with no issues. The transmission feels great with no grinds or issues.
This is a great chance to get a next-to-new Boxster. Incredibly low miles and a very good price. It is essentially a two-owner car. The original owner was an old gentleman who could barely drive it due to his age. The second owner was a middle-aged woman here in Virginia. It has never seen snow. No accidents, always garaged, non-smokers, no pets, adult driven. My brother and I recently purchased it to turn it into a track car, but everyone says it is too nice for that (which is arguably true), so we are selling it. Cars with similar miles in similar condition seem to go for 18k-20k+ and we have priced it for a quick sale. Will trade towards a track-ready roadster or 911. |

2013 Porsche 911 RSR makes official debut
Mon, 01 Apr 2013Porsche is ready to go racing in 2013, showing off a new 911 RSR today that is scheduled to compete in several endurance events this year. Based on the current 991 911, the new RSR will compete in the 2013 season of the World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It will not, however, make an appearance in a North American racing series this year.
The 2013 version of the racecar has increased in wheelbase by some four inches, features a new wishbone front suspension in place of the last-generation's McPherson strut setup and boasts a new, lightweight six-speed racing gearbox. The engine, meanwhile, is an "optimized" version of last year's car, a 460-horsepower 4.0-liter boxer six-cylinder. Extensive use of carbon fiber and polycarbonate windows help the RSR shed weight, and Porsche has also balanced the weight more evenly with a lower center of gravity.
Porsche has thoughtfully dedicated some space to celebrate the 911's 50th Anniversary, with the number 50 clearly visible in the top-down view of the RSR, as well as along the doors. Scroll down to read the full Porsche press release, below.
Porsche finally moving ahead with flat four engine
Sun, 23 Mar 2014When Porsche released the first Boxster in 1996 and the first Cayman in 2005, the idea was to create an entry-level model for the German automaker's sports car range. The latest iterations of both closely related models, however, have begun to encroach dangerously on the 911's territory, particularly in their newest GTS specifications. That could be about to change, however, with the introduction of a four-cylinder engine for the compact mid-engined coupe and roadster.
According to Automotive News, Porsche is finally preparing to launch a new boxer four engine in the Boxster and Cayman, following years of speculation. The engine would be based on the same architecture as the company's famous flat six, but with two fewer cylinders to cut weight. Don't expect it to cut much in the way of performance, however: Porsche chief Matthias Muller indicates that the new engine could produce as much as 395 horsepower - significantly more than even the 340hp flat six in the Cayman GTS, suggesting that the engine could even find its way into the 911 as well.
It's no more clear which markets would get the four-cylinder engine, either. But wherever it is offered and in whichever form, it wouldn't be the first time we'd see a Porsche with a four-pot engine. Not by a long shot. Both the classic 912 and 356 were powered by boxer fours, as was the 914 - not to mention the 718 pictured above and the iconic 550 Spyder. The front-engined 924, 944 and 968 packed inline-four engines, but the last of those were discontinued in the 1990s. The prospect of a four-cylinder Boxster/Cayman has been rumored for many years now, most recently joined by the possibility of a four-pot Macan as well.
Porsche wants you to 3D print your own Cayman
Tue, 10 Dec 2013Have you got access to a 3D printer? Well lucky you, because as we're rapidly learning, the possibilities are virtually endless. And if your tastes lean towards the automotive (as we'd assume they do if you're reading this page), we've got good news.
Porsche has just released 3D printing data for the Cayman S so you can three-dimensionally print out your own and customize to your heart's content. Now Porsche hasn't specified just to what scale the data will allow you to print your Cayman, but we have a feeling that'd mostly be limited by the size of the printer at your disposal. Check it out in the video below and follow the link to the Porsche site to download the file.
