DESCRIPTION:

Up for sale is my beloved Porsche Boxster '99. It's in mint, 10/10 condition. As a Porsche owner you want to be proud of the gem that you own. Always maintained accordingly to the dealers suggestions. Mechanically it's a gem. As I will describe every detail below:

- Clean title.
- Manual 5-speed stick shift.
- 6-cyl 2.5L engine.
- Silver exterior, red leather interior. Very very classy.
- Alarm. Two keys provided. Each key has two buttons. One to open/lock car and alarm, and the other one to open back trunk (there is a front trunk too).
- Original manuals.
- Brand sparkling new tires (less than 1000 miles on them, just spent about $1000 on tires).
- No leaks whatsoever, no strange noises, no weird transmission gear changes.
- Interior in excellent condition with no scratches whatsoever. Exterior in excellent condition with a tiny scratch in the front and rear bumpers (close up pics provided).
- No paintwork needed: looks shiny and smooth all-over.
- Passed smog 3 months ago: you are good for the next 2 years.
- Current registration up-to-date. Tags till APR 2014.
- Electric roof top working smoothly. It has a new top, including the window (most of these cars have this window yellowed by time, but this one is new).
- 93K miles. Runs like new, very strong and fast. I babied this car and always maintained it very well. Any issue it would have I'd take it to the shop immediately.
- Cruise control (works fine, I use it almost every day). It was surprising to me to find a stick shift car with cruise control.
- Has never been involved in an accident.
- Original Porsche Audio System.
- AC ice cold, heater oven hot. It doesn't have actually a button for AC or for heater, you can control the exact temperature you want (close up pic provided).
- Oil level meter (close up provided).
- Brand new Harley Davidson floor mats.
- Brand new water pump.
- Brand new clutch. You can tell by pressing it that it was recently changed.
- Always used 91 premium gas.

Every time I take the car out, I get compliments from other drivers. It's a real pleasure to drive it around. This is a luxurious car for a very, very good price.

My friend works on a dealership and he got the car checked for me by their mechanics. It did pass perfectly their inspection, however I wanted to leave it as perfect as possible, so I recently spent $2500 in all the necessary maintenance to leave it as if it would come out of the factory (with the clutch, water pump, tires, refill of Porsche Coolant (which is pretty expensive), the rear window and a general service). Mainly it's ready to be running for a long long time!

WHY AM I SELLING IT:

ONLY reason for selling it is that I bought a 7-person mini-van, since I work moving big equipment and I can't afford to have two cars. Now I need the van more than this one. This car is my every-day drive and if I wouldn't have the minivan I'd never sell it.

PRICE:

Bidding starts at $9800. I see every single Boxster in conditions like this one with this milage have buy it now prices of around 12k. I believe this is an excellent deal.
Location: Los Angeles, California.
Payment: Cash preferred.

More details on Lanzante's F1-engined Porsche 930 restomod

Fri, Mar 29 2019

Not long after last year's Porsche Rennsport Reunion, we posted on Lanzante Engineering's restomod project with the original Porsche 911 Turbo. McLaren Formula One used TAG-branded Porsche engines for four years in the 1980s to win two constructor's and three driver's championships. McLaren sold 11 of those engines to Lanzante — nine of which have been raced, one with a win to its credit — and Lanzante is installing them into the original chassis of some 930s. PistonHeads stopped by the shop to find out more. By the end of its service in the MP4/3, the TAG-Porsche TTE P01 motor rang up 1,060 horsepower in qualifying and 960 hp in the race, revving to a 12,600-rpm redline. Porsche engine legend Hans Mezger had led the development, coaxing those numbers from just 1.5-liters of V6 aided by two large KKK turbos at a max of four bar. All that was fine for a time when F1 ran with unlimited testing and unlimited parts, but a modern owner doesn't want to pay five techs to live in his garage and keep his car running. Lanzante asked Cosworth to make the engine more drivable and reliable. Cosworth installed a new crankcase, adjusted the air-fuel mixture, and installed smaller turbos for quicker power delivery, decreasing max boost by 25 percent to three bar (43 psi). The redline has come down to 9,000 rpm, for final output figures of 503 hp and 310 pound-feet of torque. According to PistonHeads, power climbs a "steady incline to redline," and more than half the rev band delivers maximum torque. The 503-hp rating doesn't sound like much today, when a Mustang gets more than 700 hp. Yet the first 930 Turbos got 296 hp and 243 lb-ft from a 3.0-liter flat-six with one big KKK turbo. The most powerful 930 Flatnose worked up 330 hp and 347 lb-ft from a 3.3-liter flat-six. Lanzante's taken out a ton of weight, though. The TAG engine is already 220 pounds lighter than the 930's 3.3-liter; a new carbon fiber hood and engine cover, and aluminum door skins shed more pounds. The total package weighs roughly 2,430 pounds, which is more than 500 pounds lighter than the original Porsche Turbo. That includes the extra pieces needed to make an F1 engine power a passenger car. Lanzante had to swap in a 930 Flatnose front bumper, which replaces the fog lights for oil coolers. The team put radiators at the front of the car as part of a brand new water cooling system. The climate control is entirely electric, because F1 cars didn't come with HVAC.

Porsche 911 GT3 RS looks wicked, this way comes

Thu, Dec 11 2014

Those who didn't think Porsche went extreme enough with the latest 911 GT3 likely won't be disappointed when the more focused GT3 RS arrives. And as you can see from these latest spy shots, it looks like it's speeding right around the corner. Tipped to debut at the Geneva Motor Show this coming March, the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS is shaping up to be an enthusiast's dream - and with the prospect of a GT2 in doubt, could be the most hardcore Elfen in the range. Instead of the 3.8-liter flat-six in the current GT3, the new RS will pick up where the previous limited-edition GT3 RS 4.0 left off, with four naturally aspirated liters of unadulterated boxer power channeling a good 520 horses to the rear wheels. That will be a significant increase over the existing 475-hp GT3 and will match the 911 Turbo for output (if not the 560-hp Turbo S) and without any turbo lag to slow down the action, either. Whether it will keep the GT3's dual-clutch gearbox and four-wheel steering system, or ditch one or both for a more analog approach, remains to be seen, but we're holding out hope. Either way, the modifications to the bodywork ought to make the GT3 RS stand out even further and stay glued to the race track it will call home. Notice the deep front splitter scooping up snowflakes like a shovel, a massive rear wing (which may or may not be the final production version), the Turbo-spec rear end with air intakes ahead of the rear wheels, and a set of awesome-looking gills over the front wheels – all of which you can scope out in the gallery full of spy shots above.

24 Hours of Le Mans an on-and-off love affair

Mon, 24 Jun 2013

There was little usual about this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans - intermittent rain in the weeks before the race meant cars didn't get on track as much as they wanted, and intermittent rain during the race meant cars went off track a lot more than they wanted. The race started with a wet track, and one of the records broken because of the random downpours was the number of times the safety car led the field - 11 times this year - although the record of two hours and 53 minutes of lapping behind the safety car, set in 2011, was not eclipsed.
None of that served to dampen the action. With little more than an hour left in the race there were cars still only a few seconds apart fighting for position, leads still changing because of pit stops and everyone drafting anyone they could.
Things didn't go the usual way up front, either - well, not exactly...
