Porsche 911 GT3 RS ends up in canal near dealership
Wed, Mar 30 2016All new Porsches are cooled by water. That's just the way it is now, and no amount of purist moaning is going to change it. But when it comes to a water-cooled Porsche, this stretches the limits. This Gulf-livery-themed 911 GT3 RS had its nose deposited in a canal outside Porsche of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. There's a water hazard joke to be made here. According to a Google translation, the dealership's owner is blaming a mechanic for the mistake, while adding the damage isn't fatal to the ultra-rare 911. That has to be at least partially because the heart of this beast – the 4.0-liter, 500-horsepower flat-six engine – sits at the far rear of the car. Hopefully, that means damage is limited to just the body, brakes, and suspension. While it's hard to tell from the angle of this photo, the rear-engine layout may also be what kept more of the car from going in the drink – it seems possible a front-engine car may have been submerged. 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S
Fri, 19 Jul 2013I don't care who you are; when a new Porsche 911 rolls up in your driveway, that's a pretty good day. This was my very first experience with Porsche's 991 911, and after having spent time with just about every tune and trim of the last car, I was hotly anticipating comparing and contrasting.
Somehow (I don't remember sending out any cash-filled, unmarked envelopes) I'd scored a week in the 911 Carrera 4S over a long holiday weekend, too. That meant that I'd get to A) log a ton of miles in one of the best cars in the world, B) get to show-off the Porsche to family and friends and C) tempt cops in three states to pull me over. Good thing I've got the Autoblog traffic lawyer on speed dial...

Porsche Cayman GT4 spotted at the N?rburgring
Tue, 13 May 2014It was just the other day that we first caught wind of Porsche's plans to build a GT4 version of the Cayman, and now we're already looking at spy shots of the vehicle in question undergoing testing at - where else? - the Nürburgring.
With more aggressive front-end aero, a GT3-style air vent ahead of the front hood, a large wing at the back, and spindly alloys packed with over-sized brakes at each corner, this Cayman is clearly more extreme than even the range-topping GTS. The rear diffuser and central exhaust tips look about the same as those you'd find at the back of the Cayman GTS, though.
What we can't see, of course, is what Porsche has slotted in under the rear glass, how it's upgraded the interior and how much weight it's stripped out of the thing to get it down to fighting weight, but you can bet it'll come with a substantial power bump and a stripped-out interior with racing buckets and little else to open the gap between it and the GTS... and close the gap to the 911 GT3 which it will join as the baby brother in Porsche's performance-focused lineup. Click above to view the double-batch of spy shots.
