RARE Colored 1993 Porsche 968 Cabriolet

WP0CA2964PS840178

This is a rare Porsche 968. I want to pass my Porsche 968 along with my passion onto the next enthusiast.  These cars are meant to be driven and for others to enjoy!  It’s fast and fun!

I’ve been slowly and steadily restoring it. Read on and see what has been done to this 20 plus year old car. It not perfect yet, but it’s a great start. The car is being sold as is.

81,000 miles…metallic green color with a black interior.  3.0L VarioCam engine with a 4-speed Tiptronic transmission.  The 968's engine was the second-largest 4-cylinder ever offered in a production car up to that time.

Previously owned by a family in Ft. Lauderdale, this Porsche 968 was part of the settlement. It had been in storage for a couple years when I purchased it. I had it professionally detailed. This is currently my daily driver. It not perfect yet, but it’s a great start.  It’s being sold at a very reasonable price. If I had it painted it would be up there with the other Porsche convertibles in price.

ENGINE AND DRIVE LINE…

The car has had major engine service preformed including the timing belt, water pump, and front engine oil seals along with new belt rollers, ($1500.00). Transmission service including the flex plate was performed (auto damper $ 1800.00).  AC conversion to new style 134 blows nice and cold. Heater works, as it should as well.

This car runs and drives great as a Porsche should…smooth, fast and nimble. The oil and other fluids have recently been changed.  I removed the old tires off the front and change them with new 17 inch Kumho ECSTA tires.

An aftermarket convertible top was installed in addition to doing some work with the frame.  The top opens and closed manually. I recently purchase the locking handles, which are included with the car,

INTERIOR…

The interior is in pretty good shape, however with most cars more than 20 years old the seats will need to be recovered due to regular wear and tear.

The original radio was replaced with an upgraded Alpine unit with blue tooth.

The car has beautiful black rugs and perfect door panels. The rear seats with storage options were added.

BODY…

The over all body is in excellent shape and pretty much ready for paint. There is a small dent on the lower left side right behind the left side door.

The hood has a small dent on the upper left hand corner.  A little bit of bodywork will remedy that. And the hood and trunk are showing clear coat peeling.  I was planning to repaint the entire car.

All lights are fully functional and working.

Fun facts…

This car is very rare. For those of you not familiar with the Porsche 968 it was an automobile sold by Porsche AG of Germany from 1991 to 1995, and marketed as the replacement for the Porsche 944. When production ceased in the 1995 model year, it represented the end of the line started almost 20 years earlier with the introduction of the Porsche 924.

There were only a limited amount of Porsche 968's built and shipped to the states. Approximately 2000 coupes and 2000 cabriolets were imported to the United States between 1991 and 995.This color combination is very rare.

Combined with the Tiptronic transmission...maybe 10 in total were manufactured.

If you have any questions or want to see the car I can be reached at 561 414- 8477. Only serious buyers please!

Porsche 911 GT3 RS looks wicked, this way comes

Thu, Dec 11 2014

Those who didn't think Porsche went extreme enough with the latest 911 GT3 likely won't be disappointed when the more focused GT3 RS arrives. And as you can see from these latest spy shots, it looks like it's speeding right around the corner. Tipped to debut at the Geneva Motor Show this coming March, the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS is shaping up to be an enthusiast's dream - and with the prospect of a GT2 in doubt, could be the most hardcore Elfen in the range. Instead of the 3.8-liter flat-six in the current GT3, the new RS will pick up where the previous limited-edition GT3 RS 4.0 left off, with four naturally aspirated liters of unadulterated boxer power channeling a good 520 horses to the rear wheels. That will be a significant increase over the existing 475-hp GT3 and will match the 911 Turbo for output (if not the 560-hp Turbo S) and without any turbo lag to slow down the action, either. Whether it will keep the GT3's dual-clutch gearbox and four-wheel steering system, or ditch one or both for a more analog approach, remains to be seen, but we're holding out hope. Either way, the modifications to the bodywork ought to make the GT3 RS stand out even further and stay glued to the race track it will call home. Notice the deep front splitter scooping up snowflakes like a shovel, a massive rear wing (which may or may not be the final production version), the Turbo-spec rear end with air intakes ahead of the rear wheels, and a set of awesome-looking gills over the front wheels – all of which you can scope out in the gallery full of spy shots above.

How Porsche got Patrick Dempsey into the driver's seat for Le Mans

Tue, 27 Aug 2013

How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, practice, practice. Ask Patrick Dempsey and he'll likely tell you the same secret for landing a role on a hit TV show or, for that matter, driving a Porsche in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
That's because, like McQueen and Newman, Dempsey has earned his place in that rarified field of actors who also race. He's competed in Baja and Grand-Am, co-owns an IndyCar team, and this year returned to Le Mans where he and his teammates Joe Foster and Patrick Long finished fourth in the GTE-Am class behind the wheel of their Porsche 911 RSR.
It's a grueling race, and the fluid transition between drivers behind the wheel is a key element to success. Check out the satirical video below to see how Dempsey and company got ready.

Porsche Supercup racer dies in crash in Australia

Tue, 15 Oct 2013

Even with great strides made towards increasing the safety of motor racing, fundamentally it's still a dangerous sport. And now it has claimed another life.
That life belonged to one Sean Edwards, an accomplished GT racing driver. Edwards was killed at Queensland Raceway in Australia, riding shotgun in a Porsche 996 GT3 while acting as instructor. The driver was airlifted to hospital with critical injuries. Sean Edwards was 26.
The son of former F1 driver Guy Edwards (whose car he drove in the filming of Rush), Sean won the European GT3 Championship in a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and drove a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 to repeat victories at the 24 Hours of Dubai as well as this year's Nürburgring 24 Hours. Edwards had been competing in the Porsche Supercup, whose standings he currently leads with just two rounds to go, and could be crowned champion posthumously.
