This Porsche is a rare vehicle in that very few 928s have been maintained since they stopped being manufactured in the early 90s.  This particular vehicle has had 2 owners, it was originally purchased in Beverly Hill, CA and was moved to Houston, TX with the original owner whom was a family friend of mine. I purchased the car in 2003  in Houston, TX where it remains today, and drove it and enjoyed it as it was for about 6 years.  I was a young man fresh out of college, and while I loved the vehicle, could not afford to do some of the maintenance that was required of it at the time.  However, in the last 4 years, I have completely rebuilt the car, keeping almost every detail of the vehicle original, with the exception of 2 things, the stereo and the material on the dash.  The dash, and console have been redone (in the original cork color) in hand stitched leather as opposed to vinyl.  Both will eventually crack in excessive heat, but the leather can be pulled tighter and in my humble opinion is a far better look than vinyl. This vehicle had both materials used from the factory so using leather to reupholster the dash instead of vinyl I did not feel was a great departure from the factory specs.

The major mechanical work that I have had done to this car includes a complete rebuild of the engine and transmission, new rack and pinion, new shocks, new exhaust system, replaced every belt, replaced AC, new alternator and radiator.

Cosmetically I have repainted the entire car (after 34 years they need it), reupholstered both front seats in the original cork leather, replaced in all leather the dash, console, steering wheel, steering column surrounding area, side panels all redone in leather and vinyl (as original) and I have re-carpeted the entire vehicle.

In total I have spent over $45,000 taking care of this car in the past 3 to 4 years.  Anyone who is seriously interested in this vehicle, please feel free to call me and I can provide receipts and invoices to substantiate that number.  I have kept thorough records of everything I have done and spent on this car.

I understand that the market for 928s is not strong enough to get out of this vehicle what I have in it so I am asking for a substantially reduced return to my investment in this vehicle.

For those truly interested, please feel free to call me at 713 857 0493.

Roger Rodas' widow suing Porsche over Carrera GT crash

Tue, 13 May 2014

Investigations undertaken by local law enforcement may have vindicated Porsche from any wrongdoing in the crash that killed actor Paul Walker and racing driver Roger Rodas last year, but the latter's widow is apparently not convinced. According to emerging reports, Kristine Rodas has filed a lawsuit seeking unspecified damages from Porsche Cars North America.
In her suit filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court, Rodas' attorney Mark Geragos reportedly disputes the findings of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which asserted that the vehicle was traveling at an unsafe speed of 90 miles per hour on city streets, identifying the speed as the cause of the accident. Instead the lawsuit claims that the vehicle was only going 55 mph and that the cause of the crash was improper equipment - namely a faulty right rear suspension and the lack of a crash cage and proper fuel tank.

Porsche doesn't think autonomous cars fit brand

Mon, Feb 1 2016

Porsche customers have no need to worry because the company has no intention of taking away driver control by introducing autonomous tech for its vehicles. "One wants to drive a Porsche by oneself," company CEO Oliver Blume told a German newspaper, Reuters reports. For the sports car maker, this is a sensible decision, as its owners are driving enthusiasts who desire an exciting experience behind the wheel. Blume also isn't a big fan of people using their phones in the car. "An iPhone belongs in your pocket, not on the road," he told the newspaper. While Blume doesn't like some cutting-edge automotive tech, he's no Luddite. The CEO eventually wants every Porsche to be available with a hybrid powertrain option, including the 911. A plug-in version of the famous sports coupe could be ready by 2018 and have a 31-mile EV range (presumably on the European cycle), according to Reuters. The evidence suggests that Porsche is very serious about electrifying the 911. A company exec admitted the automaker had PHEVs under discussion. Spy shots (above) already showed one testing that possibly had a charger on the passenger side rear fender. The 911 PHEV would also follow logically from Porsche's recent surge to electrify its models. The Panamera and Cayenne already offer plug-in versions, and the 918 Spyder proves the system can perform. Applying that battery knowledge to the 911 is a natural move, especially with the fully electric Mission E taking another technological step forward around 2020. Related Video:

Watch 1,208 Porsche 911s collect at Silverstone for world record

Mon, 29 Jul 2013

Porsche has been spending the majority of 2013 celebrating the 50th birthday of the 911, with its latest stunt taking the German brand to the home of British motorsports, Silverstone. To celebrate, Porsche invited enthusiasts to take their personal 911s on a lap of the former airfield, and boy, did the Porschephiles show up. 1,208 911s took part in the lap around the Grand Prix circuit, making it the largest-ever gathering of the iconic, rear-engined cars.
This wasn't just a celebration of 50 years for the 911, though. Funds raised were channeled towards Hope For Tomorrow, a cancer charity that works with the United Kingdom's National Health Service in operating mobile chemothereapy units that make life just a little bit easier on cancer patients.
Take a look at the long video below, and enjoy the passing of what are likely examples of every 911 model ever built.
