Very complete, great acceleration and range in an all-electric classic car with Targa-top, and more… This 73 Porsche 914 has been thoroughly restored from bumper to bumper by a long list of experts. It has earned car show awards and was featured in Excellence Magazine. The LiFePO4 traction battery pack has only 2000 miles on it. The pack is made up of one hundred and two CALB 100Ah cells, giving it 32.64 kW/hr of energy. This allows for great range as well as a stiff traction pack (minimal voltage sag) to provide high power for acceleration. A Zilla EHV 2000A controller delivers that power to a 9" ADC motor, modified by Jim Husted. Acceleration is incredible. Not formally timed, estimated confidently to be capable of a 0-60mph in under 6 seconds (with the controller limited to just 1400A). Range is above 130 miles on one charge (demonstrated with mixed driving). In comparison, a Nissan Leaf has a practical range of approximately 70 miles, and is not as fun to drive! The charger is an efficient and safe 6kW Elcon, Charge anywhere with several options, including J1772, plus standard 220V and 110V outlets. Typical 220V charge time is about 2x what you spend driving. But with range like this, charging is something you do at the end of the day (or week), depending on your driving needs. Inside the car, the dash has a custom built gage cluster with a nice production finish. Dash lights including "motor on", and warning indicators are nicely integrated. Heat up the cabin allmost instantly with 3000 Watts of direct air heating. State of charge is displayed digitally in “percent remaining”. In addition to conversion to electric, many other upgrades were implemented. To list a few, racing suspension, brake system, clutch system, Upgraded (V8) half shafts/CV joints, Low rolling resistance tires, rare wheels & steering wheel, new leather interior, transmission professionally customized for extra torque. Too much to list here. Vehicle is located near Central Oregon. Full description is available at shiftev.com. Isn’t it time to put the top in the trunk and go for a road trip?

Watch Larry Kosilla resurrect the finish of this barn-find 1966 Porsche 912
Thu, 25 Jul 2013Larry Kosilla, the founder of the Ammo NYC line of car cleaning products, has his own show YouTube's Drive network - we saw his work before when he gave a Ferrari 288 GTO a two-day detailing job. On this episode, Kosilla gets called in to do his best with a 1966 Porsche 912, a car that was last registered in 1990 and recently found in a barn in Connecticut.
Among the expected dirt and cobwebs, the Irish Green Porsche is also covered what is assumed to be cat fur and "waste." The car is in such delicate condition, however, that Kosilla can't wash it for fear of getting more water in it than on it, so he has to steam and wipe the entire thing down before he begins the paint correction process. In addition to the thorough knowledge of his work and his ability to explain it simply, the episode is captioned with further information one of Porsche's popular but less regarded models, and how Kosilla does what he does.
You'll find a compelling 29 minute masterclass in the video below.
2019 Tokyo Auto Salon features one of the coolest auctions we've seen
Thu, Jan 3 2019In just over a week, the Tokyo Auto Salon will host one of the coolest auctions we've seen in years. Jalopnik spotted BH Auction's listings, and it's a cornucopia of hot machinery you won't typically find at American auctions like Gooding & Company or Barrett Jackson. While Japanese cars make up most of the listings, Ferrari, Porsche, BMW and even Dodge all have at least one car going up for auction. We won't include everything here, but you can check out the full list on BH Auction's website. There are 50 lots at the auction, including nine Nissan Skylines, nine Ferraris and two Porsche Carrera GTs. Some of our other favorites include a Honda S800 coupe, a Toyota Miniace truck, a Mitsubishi Willys Jeep and a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL gullwing with the V8 from a W124 Mercedes-Benz E60 AMG that's estimated to sell for between $1.25 million and $1.5 million. Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer First Drive [w/video]
Fri, Jun 26 2015"There's still a couple hundred rpm left," coaxes the voice from the passenger seat. Though I'm wailing down a mercilessly knotted up Southern California canyon road in someone else's half-million dollar coupe, my manic pace apparently isn't sufficient for the Singer Vehicle Design rep in the right seat. On one hand, my Irish co-pilot with more than a passing resemblance to Bruce Willis is playfully ribbing me because I've been driving hard, but haven't yet hit the 4.0-liter engine's 7,200-rpm rev limiter. On the other hand, if you've never heard of an Irish bloke who doesn't drink because he's got control issues – well, now you have, because the dude's stocky paws are white knuckling the car's rain gutter like his life depends on it. Within my microcosm of itinerant auto writing some days are odder than others; this particular Monday is beginning to look like one of the weirder ones. Rolling, In My Four-Point-Oh The car in question, according to a release I've signed prior to the drive, is a "Porsche 911," a "Porsche," or a "911," but certainly not a "Singer Porsche," a "Singer 911," or any number of variants thereafter. Sigh. I suppose "Porsche 911 reimagined by Singer Vehicle Design" will suffice? Oh, legal department. Nomenclature aside, what started life as a 1990 Porsche 911 has been dismantled and rebodied with a carbon fiber skin that makes it more closely resemble a small-bumpered, wide-hipped 1960s-era 911 than it does its melted bumper donor car. According to company founder (and former Catherine Wheel vocalist) Rob Dickinson, the decision to source a 964-series 911 was based on its delicate foothold between the model's combination of heritage and drivability. "I think the 964 is in the sweet spot of having one foot in old school 911 thinking with the [semi-trailing] rear suspension, which honors every earlier 911, while having a front end which is very much of the modern era and allows the car not to feel like an antique," he tells Autoblog. The specimen I'm driving is the latest evolution of Singer's vision of the reinterpreted 911, distinguished by a 4.0-liter powerplant that's been heavily modified by Ed Pink Racing (and, in Singer tradition, the serial number matches the donor car's chassis). The Van Nuys, California-based firm knows a thing or two about high-strung Porsche mills: the tuner has a long history of rebuilding such mechanical exotica such as 917, 935, and 962 race engines.
