This auction is for one very nice original 1968 Porsche 912. It is a three owner car and has been owned by the seller since 1991. We have good documentation dating back to 1971 regarding service and previous ownership. The car has always been stored indoors since 1991 and was a previous Porsche club member award winning car. The car is original other than the usual maintenance items, brakes, tires etc. The car was nicely repainted in the late 80s and was involved in a very minor rear end accident in the late 90s so the rear deck lid was repainted at that time. It has always been a red on black car, we pulled out the seats to check the pan for rust including under the battery and they are near perfect. We have yet to find any rust on this car. Pride in ownership shows in this car. Included with the sale are all documentation and service receipts along with manuals and owners handbooks. The original bra is included but needs some very minor repairs.
Dual Weber Carburetors were installed in the mid 90s
The car is available to be seen prior to auction end and is encouraged.
The only negatives are some rock chips on the leading edge of the hood area as shown in the photos and some shrinkage in the paint on the rear decklid if you look close.
The factory radio does not receive any channels and the shifter feels sloppy compared to the newer cars (may need bushings, may be the way they are)
A $1000 Paypal deposit is required within 3 days of auction close and final payment within 10 days. Selling the car locally is preferred however we can assist you in shipping if needed. (Usa shipping only)
There is no warranty of any kind with the sale of vehicle.
The reserve will not be disclosed as it may be dropped to sell to the highest bidder.
The dash is in excellent condition, no cracks or other issues.

'Faster. Farther.' dives into the history of Porsche racing tech
Wed, 07 Aug 2013No doubt, Porsche has produced some of the best endurance racecars around, such as the turbocharged, slant-nose 935 of the 1970s and the ground-effects-enhanced 956 and 962 of the 1980s. But the company's most famous racecar, its first overall winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, was the 917.
The 917 embodied many of Porsche's technological achievements up to that point, such as the company's first 12- and 16-cylinder engines (the flat-16 was never used in competition), fiberglass bodies that implemented early aerodynamic practices and the use of new, exotic materials, such as magnesium and titanium.
The racecar was commissioned by the head of Porsche Motorsports, Ferdinand Piëch, to win overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970, after he realized a loophole in the rules that allowed cars to compete with engines up to five liters in the Sport category if they were also production models. Piëch saw opportunity: the top prototype class was restricted to three liters; the production minimum to compete in Sport was 25 cars. And so, with much effort, Porsche assembled 25 "production" 4.5-liter 917s and had them parked in a neat line for the race inspectors to verify their legitimacy. It didn't take long before people realized the new Porsches were much faster than the prototype racers, with a top speed approaching 250 miles per hour.
VW, Mobileye to bring new automated tech to series production
Wed, Mar 20 2024Volkswagen will bring new automated driving technologies to series production as it deepens its partnership with Mobileye in automotive driving technologies, Europe's biggest carmaker said on Wednesday. Israeli automotive tech company Mobileye will provide driving assistance software based on its SuperVision and Chauffeur platforms to VW's luxury brands such as Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini and Porsche. The technologies, which later will be integrated by VW's software unit Cariad, include assistance systems for highway and urban driving, such as automated overtaking on multilane highways, automatic stopping at red lights and stop signs, and support in intersections and roundabouts. "New automated driving functions will significantly boost convenience and safety," VW Chief Executive Oliver Blume said. Mobileye is also set to supply further automated driving software to Volkswagen's commercial vehicles unit. In future, the German carmaker aims to rely on its own complete in-house software system. Porsche Boxster spied in the buff
Thu, Aug 6 2015Porsche is preparing a significant update to its entry level Boxster convertible, and while visually this might appear to be a simple refresh, the changes are more than skin deep. Following a number of rumors, Porsche will finally make the jump to turbocharged engines on a broad scale, and it starts with this new Boxster. According to our spies, it's the larger side intakes featured on this prototype that give away its smaller, force-induced flat-four engine. The dual exhaust pipes, meanwhile, say Boxster S to us, rather than just the basic model. Beyond the mechanical changes, this marks the first time we've seen the new Boxster completely free of camouflage. We can see that Porsche's stylists – famous for revolutionary designs slowly tweaking the same style for decads on end – adjusted the look of the front and rear fascias. We like the more aggressively canted headlights, which get the same four-pointed LEDs as its big brother, the 911. The slimmer taillights are a minor improvement on the inoffensive lamps fitted to the current car, and serve to take some attention off the all-plastic exhaust surround, which is much more simply styled than the current car's. It should also be noted that the aesthetics featured on the new Boxster are very, very likely to be transferred directly onto the new Cayman. You can check out our full gallery of shots of the all-new, totally undisguised Boxster in the gallery up top. Expect to see the new roadster around this time next year, with a debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show likely. Related Video:
