This Spring, experience the rare opportunity to own a gorgeous red 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet (convertible).
The Sixth Generation (1984-1989) is highly desirable in Porsche Collecting Circles. This beauty has been my husband's pampered Porsche 911 since purchase in 2009. In the past 4 years, he has driven it approximately 500 miles each summer. It is burped and babied and only sees the light of day when the sun is shining and the wife is in the mood for a Blizzard at the local DQ. It has also been known to grace the occasional Classic Car Show.
This vehicle is road-ready, Carfax Certified, with the original Porsche Warranty Voucher Booklet stating a June 27th, 1984 "birth date" in the US (Bill Cook Porsche Audi, Farmington Hills, MI)

"BEST BUY
911 Carrera ($20,000-28,000)
The last of the original 911's is also the best, both in terms of refinement and bang for the buck despite costing a few grand more than its 2.7 and 3.0 predecessors. What do you get for the extra dough? A more powerful, more reliable engine, mostly, along with a number of detail changes that make the Carrera that little bit better than the SC. If you want a classic-looking 911 with real reliability and longevity, the Carrera is the one to get."

New info on how VW, Porsche, Audi V6 TDI engine cheat works
Mon, Aug 8 2016The German newspaper Bild am Sonntag is reporting that US investigators have found three pieces of software that work in concert to turn off the emissions control equipment in certain diesel models after a set period of time. The engine in question, the 3.0-liter TDI turbodiesel, was found in certain Volkswagen Touareg, Audi Q7, and Porsche Cayenne models – the sale of which was suspended in the US late last year. Since most emissions compliance testing takes around 20 minutes, the software in the three VW Group models shuts off the emissions control equipment after 22 minutes, a straightforward end run around the testing. Remember that the 3.0-liter TDI engines aren't included in the big buyback and recall program announced for the smaller 2.0-liter, four-cylinder TDI engines. The 3.0-liter engines will likely get their own program, but we don't know when to expect it or exactly what it will look like. Last month, California rejected a proposed fix for the larger TDI engines, and VW went back to the drawing board. Since the company is unlikely to create two fixes, one for California and one for the rest of the nation, the company can't really proceed until they figure out a solution California will accept. The EPA hasn't officially commented on the report, and we don't know how Bild am Sonntag came across the information, but we'll be closely watching what emerges after this report. Related Video:
LaFerrari, McLaren P1, Porsche 918 and Agera R take to Assen
Tue, 10 Jun 2014It's the show-down (sort of) we've all been waiting for. The battle of the hybrid hypercars from the performance powerhouses of Europe: Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder. No one publication has managed to get their hands on all three just yet, but this video has - and with a Koenigsegg Agera R thrown in for good measure.
The video was shot by our (unrelated) Dutch compatriots at Autoblog.nl at the TT Circuit Assen in the Netherlands. The track has played host to Champ Cars and all manner of racing bikes, but this could be the ultimate grid of actual production machinery that's ever lined up behind its start/finish line. Shame the weather was rainy and this unsurpassed array of supercars weren't really racing - more showing off for the crowds. But what a show it was. Scope out the footage in the video below.
24 Hours of Le Mans an on-and-off love affair
Mon, 24 Jun 2013There was little usual about this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans - intermittent rain in the weeks before the race meant cars didn't get on track as much as they wanted, and intermittent rain during the race meant cars went off track a lot more than they wanted. The race started with a wet track, and one of the records broken because of the random downpours was the number of times the safety car led the field - 11 times this year - although the record of two hours and 53 minutes of lapping behind the safety car, set in 2011, was not eclipsed.
None of that served to dampen the action. With little more than an hour left in the race there were cars still only a few seconds apart fighting for position, leads still changing because of pit stops and everyone drafting anyone they could.
Things didn't go the usual way up front, either - well, not exactly...
