Beautiful Low Miles Porsche 993 C4 on 2040-cars

The 993 is the last of the air cooled, some would say the last of the best Porsches made. This is the narrow body C4 which is by far the most rare of the standard 993 models, with only 1860 delivered world wide. I am the third owner and have owned the car since 2009. The car has been in Texas, Colorado, California and is now back in Colorado. Since I have owned the car it has always been garaged and never driven in the rain or any inclement weather. There are no dents on the car, one slight ding on the passengers door was repaired. It doesn't photograph and you actually can't see it. There is a small chip in two of the 17" cup wheels. The wheels are shod with good Michelin Pilot Sports tires, 205/50/ZR17 front and 255/40/ZR17 rear. Center caps for the wheels are painted black Carrera 4. Everything works on the car, there are no mechanical issues. I have the entire service history for the car, including the original window sticker and the original bill of sale. The interior of the car is in great shape with no rips, tears, or cracks. The car was never smoked in. Front seat bolsters show the usual wear patterns on the seat bottoms. The original radio has been upgraded with a euro model Becker Grand Prix, which exactly matches the 993 dash board. It has iPod connection as well as a disk player and bluetooth connection. Speakers were up graded with Focal speakers installed in the stock speaker locations. The entire sound system looks perfectly stock.
The car is from my collection and is pristine inside, outside, top an bottom. I seriously doubt you can find one cleaner. It comes with all books and records. All glass is great and free from chips. I have in hand a clear Colorado title The entire order list is below. I'm a knowledgable owner/enthuaist but occassionally everyone misses something. I encourage you to come inspect the car in person or arrange for a PPI. Since we took the pictures we have retired and moved from California to Colorado, about 1 hour north of Denver. The successful bidder must provide a $1000 non-refundable security deposit within 48 hours of the end of the auction. On Sep-17-14 at 11:07:39 PDT, seller added the following information: Below is a scan of a PPI I had done as a service to the bidders, frankly it doesn't read to be very thorough, but on the other hand the tech seemed to have really gone over the car. I want you to know and I will inform all bidders. It looks as though at one time before I owned the car the stone guard onthe rockers was refreshed. I was going over all the service files and my servicing point, Hergesheimer MotorSports, picked up faint tape line on both rocker panels. It was in some fine print and I'd never seen it before. I just went out and checked and sure enough although the match is perfect the stone guards have been touched up. I'm pretty sure from the factory there wouldn't be a tape line. It looks like a small popsicle stick and some 1000 grit sand paper would take care of the line. They're very faint. Also the trim covers for both doors (they're plastic covers on the very front of the door) are cracked. They're $3.99 each and should have been replaced but weren't. Finally there are 3 scratches on the passenger side sill trim, that's a black rubberized plastic. Hergs also found a surface scratch both the hood and fender, my detail guy polished them out. Although no CEL was thrown Hergesheimer did detect fault codes PO410 #80. They traced the fault to the check valve and air boot both were replaced, and I've never had any problems (in fact I never knew there was a problem) Think that's about it. Thanks Bill On Sep-17-14 at 11:30:34 PDT, seller added the following information: One more update. My detail guy just told me he thought the front and rear bumpers had some repaint. I can't tell, but bidders need to evaluate this information in their bid Thanks |

Porsche board members facing another ˆ1.8B lawsuit over VW takeover bid
Mon, 03 Feb 2014Back in 2008, Porsche got the bright idea that it could take over Volkswagen in the midst of the worst economic slump since the Great Depression. Ignoring that this was a catastrophic move for the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer that that eventually resulted in it nearly going bankrupt and eventually being taken over by the same company it sought to control, the aftermath has left Porsche Chairman Wolfgang Porsche and board member Ferdinand Piëch in the crosshairs of seven hedge funds that lost out during the takeover and are now seeking €1.8 billion - $2.43 billion US - in damages from the two execs, according to the BBC.
See, investors bet on Volkswagen's share price going down, partially because Porsche said it wasn't going to attempt a takeover. But Porsche was attempting to take over VW, having bought up nearly 75-percent of VW's publicly traded shares. When word broke that Porsche owned nearly three-quarters of VW (which indicated an imminent takeover attempt), rather than go down like the hedge funds bet it would, VW's share price skyrocketed to over 1,000 euros per share, according to Reuters.
Naturally, when you bet that a company's share price is going to drop and it in turn (temporarily) becomes the world's most valuable company, you lose a lot of money, unless you're able to buy up shares before prices jump too much. This led to a squeeze on the stock, which the hedge funds accuse Porsche and Piëch (who are both members of the Porsche family and supervisory board) of organizing.
See what the Chevy C7 ZR1 may be benchmarked against
Tue, 07 May 2013One of the greatest things every Corvette has had going for it, and also one of the most re-used arguments against it, is its price-to-performance equation - long before the Nissan GT-R became the de facto Porsche 911 comparator the Corvette spent decades as Exhibit A. Depending on which side of the argument you stressed, supporters crowed about how much performance you got for how (comparatively) little, detractors carped on how little you got everywhere else in the bargain.
It appears Chevrolet is working as hard as ever to render the argument meaningless. Spy shooters at KGP captured a convocation of European birds of prey leaving the General Motors test center, and aimed at benchmarking the C7 Corvette ZR1. The road train comprised of two C7 Corvette Stingrays, a 2013 Corvette ZR1, McLaren MP4-12C, Ferrari 458 Italia, Audi R8 V10 Spyder and Porsche 911 Carrera S and it was last seen heading down the same kinked-up back roads used to hone the Corvette Stingray.
The C7-series ZR1 and its possible 700 horsepower are still a ways off. If it really is being positioned to compete with the celestial exotica in the testing group, could it be the first Corvette to regularly be the first answer to the question "Cost no object, which would would you rather have?"
Porsche responds to PETA after tiger cub displays at Macan dealership events
Tue, 13 May 2014Porsche has found itself in the good graces of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, which is pretty odd considering it's the only brand we know of that offers leather-lined vents. The activist group is praising the sports car manufacturer's handling of reports that some of its dealerships were set to feature tigers or tiger cubs at the local launch events for the Macan. Apparently, "macan" is the Malay word for tiger, which explains the connection between a highly touted crossover and a jungle cat.
A Tampa, FL dealership already displayed some three-week-old cubs, with PETA saying tigers for display should be at least eight to 12 weeks old. Even then, the group argues that the animals can suffer due to stress, malnourishment, neglect and a lack of veterinary care. The group brings up legal concerns, as well, arguing that if one of the cubs bit a customer, the dealership could be held liable (we're no big cat experts, but it seems unlikely a three-week-old cub could do that much damage).
Porsche's PR department quickly reacted to PETA's claims, with Vice President of Marketing Andre Oosthuizen, telling the group that Porsche is concerned about the "welfare of any animal, large or small, wild or domesticated." Oosthuizen's statements were reported in an official PETA blog.
