1997 Porsche 911 Carrera Type 993

For Sale is a 1997 Porsche Carrera 993, Coupe, 6 Speed, Black with Grey leather

Last of the collectible Air Cooled engines, with 63,935 miles.

This 993 is a beauty, most records on this three owner car, including the most recent visit this week to the Porsche/Ferrari dealer in Coral Gables, Florida in preparation for this auction; paying $150 dollars/hr for full diagnostic & inspection by a dedicated team of 993 mechanics (The Collection dot Com).

It comes with 2 keys & remotes, tool kid, compressor, spare, jack, 18” Porsche wheels, excellent new tires 98% thread.  Near perfect front seats and steering wheel.

Drives fantastically well, I am selling because I have three ongoing projects (Porsche 911s 1976 2.7L, Porsche 1990 964 911 C4 and 1970 Chevrolet 3 door Suburban) and need to free up some funds.  Title in hand. Will assist with any shipping.

Imperfections: One 4" scratch on right forward wheel arch from one of my kids bikes, 2 marks on aft wheel arches.

You are bidding on a car from 1997, and like any car that is 15 years old, there is some wear and tear. I have described the car to my best ability, inspections welcomed, clean Car Fax to close.

NO SCAMMERS, no dreamers, no lies please, don't waste my time with all due respect.  Cash or Bank Wire ONLY no exceptions.

The car is in Miami, Zip 33156.  For sale locally, reserve the right to end the auction anytime.

Priced below any comparable 993 online that I know of, if you want mileage less than 30K, you will pay $45K to as much as $60k (just search).  If you want a Mechanics Special with over 120k miles, you can probably get if for mid 20s, but know that when you need to touch the engine, it will cost you $12k or more.  Conclusion is you get what you pay, there are no free lunches, this is somewhere in between, low mileage, fairly priced, not mint, but not a mechanics special.

Porsche says turbo'd 911 engines will still be revvy

Wed, Apr 15 2015

Porsche fans really, really don't like change. Remember when the 911 moved away from air-cooled engines? Now, as the company prepares to move the vast majority of the 911 line away from naturally aspirated powerplants, one of the brand's highest ranking officials is speaking out to prevent a similar outcry. Dr. Heinz-Jakob Neusser, the head of powertrain development for the Volkswagen Group and a board member of the VW brand, told Car that turbocharging won't take away from the rev-happy nature of Porsche's current engines. "Turbocharging is possible with higher revs – it's not true to say that turbocharged engines must stop at 6000rpm," Neusser told Car at the 2015 New York Auto Show. "That's not true... If you look at McLaren, they already have in production turbo engines with high revs." With turbocharged engines, Nuesser explains, there's no need to go for a super high redline, because engineers are trying to spread the torque over the entire rev range. "It makes no sense to go to 10,000 rpm with a turbocharged engine," Neusser told Car. The other big concern that comes with the switch to turbocharging focuses on the 911's iconic flat-six exhaust note. Maintaining the car's well-known acoustic character shouldn't be an issue, Neusser said. "Noise is not a problem," adding that the Volkswagen Group knows a thing or two about building sweet-sounding turbos. "Look at the 911 Turbo; it has an extremely expressive noise today – that is not a problem. At the other end of the scale, the Golf R has it too," Neusser told Car. "You won't miss character with turbos, I promise." According to Car, the new turbocharged engines will arrive later this year at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, as part of the current 911's facelift. The 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona: What we learned, what we saw

Tue, 28 Jan 2014

Two days after the flag dropped on the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona, people are still trying to figure out what it might portend for the rest of the season. In 24 hours, two minutes and 24 seconds, 695 laps were completed by the car that crossed the line first. During that time, 67 cars began the race, 18 of them retired. There was that accident, and a red flag. There were supposedly slower classes beating supposedly faster classes. There were 16 caution periods, including that yellow flag. And then there was The Decision. And Then The Uproar. And then The Reversal.
There was also some pretty good racing, so let's have one last look at the weekend. Oh, and there was that 1964 Ferrari 250 GTO Series II...
If you want to skip the reading bits and go to the photos, there's a high-res gallery of 158 images above and a couple more below. Enjoy.

Roger Rodas' widow suing Porsche over Carrera GT crash

Tue, 13 May 2014

Investigations undertaken by local law enforcement may have vindicated Porsche from any wrongdoing in the crash that killed actor Paul Walker and racing driver Roger Rodas last year, but the latter's widow is apparently not convinced. According to emerging reports, Kristine Rodas has filed a lawsuit seeking unspecified damages from Porsche Cars North America.
In her suit filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court, Rodas' attorney Mark Geragos reportedly disputes the findings of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which asserted that the vehicle was traveling at an unsafe speed of 90 miles per hour on city streets, identifying the speed as the cause of the accident. Instead the lawsuit claims that the vehicle was only going 55 mph and that the cause of the crash was improper equipment - namely a faulty right rear suspension and the lack of a crash cage and proper fuel tank.
