I'm selling this vehicle for a friend of mine who purchased it back in April/May timeframe. I helped advise the owner on the purchase so know the vehicle fairly well. Owner is now selling unfortunately because of major health issues. The paint is original. there is no rust on the vehicle. There are a couple of areas where there was some touch up done. Primarily on the wheel well area behind the drivers front door and by the handle of the drivers front door. Both a body shop and two porsche mechanics looked at it and said it was minor. There may be a couple of small dings but very minor. The vehicle was not in an accident per the previous owner and the car fax also states it was not in an accident. I have a handful of receipts including the original owner omanuals as well as the original window sticker from Jess Jones Porsche of West New York, NJ. Interior is in great shape and original. No tears. Approx. 1/2 in small crack in dash on the passenger side. Headliner is all there but detaching slightly by the sunroof area.
Mechanically the porsche runs smooth and shifts well. The following is a listing of work that a certified porsche mechanic had done to the vehicle to ensure it is buttoned up/caught up on all necessary maintenance and mechanical upkeep. *New sway bar mounts, *Sway bar bushings, *Valve cover set, *Spark plugs, *Air filter, *Oil cooler line, *Cam feed oil line, *Hood struts, *Front strut hardware, *Front break rotor, *Front pad set, *Front pad sensors, *W-brng seal, *Hub o-ring, *Inner wheel bearing, *Outer wheel bearing, *Rear break rotor, *Rear pad set, *Rear pad sensors, *Axle boot set Wheels are original and in very good shape and tires also are about 6 months old. All in all the owner spent about $5,000 to update the mechanics to ensure it is a daily driver and dependable. He unfortunately will take a loss on the sale but can sell knowing that the vehicle is up to snuff for driving for a number of years without issues. Lastly the ac I believe works but may need a freon fill. The reserve is set at a very reasonable number -- way below its value in order to sell. It's a solid 911 with options that you don't see often. I've been as transparent as I can in the description. Vehicle is sold as is from a private seller. No warranty will accompany the vehicle as it is a final sale. Thanks and please bid only if you are serious. Good luck! |

What driving data is Android Auto collecting from us?
Mon, Oct 12 2015In-car solutions like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto make using your smartphone while driving increasingly easy, by replicating most of the gadget's functions on a vehicle's infotainment screen. In fact, they rank among the favorite automotive features available today by Autoblog editors. While there's certainly added convenience, Motor Trend claims Google is collecting a huge array of data during trips, as well. Although, that might not actually be the case. In a rundown of the upgrades for the newly refreshed Porsche 911, Motor Trend asserts that the iconic coupe doesn't have Android Auto because of alleged privacy concerns. Reportedly, Porsche elected to only include CarPlay because the Google tech collected info on a vehicle's speed and other data. The German company didn't want to share all of that vital info with another corporation. Google opposes the allegations, though. "We take privacy very seriously and do not collect the data the Motor Trend article claims such as throttle position, oil temp and coolant temp," the company said in a portion of a statement to TechCrunch. Android Auto does use a vehicle's GPS system for location info, and checks whether it's in Park or Drive to enable some features. Also, users must opt-in to sharing the first time that they connect their phone. There might be an explanation for this confusion, according to TechCrunch. Allegedly before Android Auto launched, Google did want more vehicle data, but the company eventually changed course. Porsche may have based its decision on this earlier version. This case just shines a light on the growing question of automotive privacy and Google's potential role. The government has been unhappy with how automakers have handled this responsibility, so far, though.
'Faster. Farther.' dives into the history of Porsche racing tech
Wed, 07 Aug 2013No doubt, Porsche has produced some of the best endurance racecars around, such as the turbocharged, slant-nose 935 of the 1970s and the ground-effects-enhanced 956 and 962 of the 1980s. But the company's most famous racecar, its first overall winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, was the 917.
The 917 embodied many of Porsche's technological achievements up to that point, such as the company's first 12- and 16-cylinder engines (the flat-16 was never used in competition), fiberglass bodies that implemented early aerodynamic practices and the use of new, exotic materials, such as magnesium and titanium.
The racecar was commissioned by the head of Porsche Motorsports, Ferdinand Piëch, to win overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970, after he realized a loophole in the rules that allowed cars to compete with engines up to five liters in the Sport category if they were also production models. Piëch saw opportunity: the top prototype class was restricted to three liters; the production minimum to compete in Sport was 25 cars. And so, with much effort, Porsche assembled 25 "production" 4.5-liter 917s and had them parked in a neat line for the race inspectors to verify their legitimacy. It didn't take long before people realized the new Porsches were much faster than the prototype racers, with a top speed approaching 250 miles per hour.
