Up for sale is my 1981 Porsche 911SC Targa.   I am a PCA member and have diligently maintained (and lightly restored) this car.

Body & interior are in top condition, and all mechanicals have been touched in the past 12 months.   I have a binder of all service records beginning in November of 1983, and including a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.  No known major accidents, other than a reference to broken glass falling on the car which required paint work in the mid-90s.

I purchased the car from a Porsche mechanic, who in turn had acquired the car from the son of the owner after he had passed away.  The previous owner, from 1983 to just prior to my ownership, was a doctor based in Beverly Hills.  He was a meticulous owner and loved the car, anything that needed replacement/repair was promptly addressed.  He was also religious in his regular maintenance as well (oil changes, brake fluid flush, A/C recharges, etc).  All service records detailing the care and maintenance of the car are on hand.  During my ownership over the past couple of years I've gone through the car thoroughly and repaired any additional items that needed attention.

A sampling of some of the recent fixes include:
  • In April 1991 the previous owner replaced the original wheels with an full Fuch OEM wheelset (receipt in hand).  I had them reconditioned in Sep 2012.
  • New shift coupler installed as well as new shifter bushings
  • Any/all oil leaks resolved - new cam oil lines (left and right) installed, new intermediate shaft gasket, new S line, and new engine oil lines.
  • Chain tensioners rebuilt with OEM Porsche upgrade kit, replaced all 6 chain ramps, install new guard kit, and reinstall covers with new gaskets.
  • Repaired and refurbished Bosch CD Box
  • Pop off valve installed
  • Replaced fuel lines and CIS injectors
  • Front tie rods replaced with Turbo 930 tie rods.
  • Front seats have been reupholstered to OEM spec
  • Targa top refurbished.
  • New Porsche dash (was told this is one of the last 911SC available from the factory)
  • New windshield, and new seals
  • New rear targa window
  • Replaced deteriorating cardboard OEM blower motor cover in trunk with Rennline billet metal cover
  • Replaced deteriorating cardboard rear deck with replacement fiberglass cover
  • Speedo sync'd at North Hollywood Speedometer, all dash lights replaced.
  • Headlights replaced with Sylvania OEM replacement lights
  • All lightbulbs replaced
  • Original Blaupunkt radio, reconditioned, working, and reinstalled
  • Kenwood amplifier installed in trunk with along with an equalizer switch to allow for iphone/ipod in glove box (all components out of sight).
  • A/C recently charged and working well.  Original compressor and clutch in working order.
  • Cleaned windshield wiper fluid reservoir, new fluid pump installed, new jets, new wipers.
  • 4 new Hankook tires from Tire Rack with receipt.
The car has been at several PCA events.  Recently photographed at the 2012 Porsche Concours at Greystone Mansion, and included several PCA Los Angeles publications.  The car's high 245k mileage is a point of distinction that is often admired among aficionados.  At Porsche events it is noted as a point of pride.  This car also comes with the following:
  • A binder documenting it's entire service history
  • Porsche certificate of authenticity
  • Original tool set (the screwdriver handle is a replacement, otherwise OEM, including replacement fuses)
  • Original set of tire changing gloves - very rare item that came as part of the original tool kit
  • Original jack and jack pad
  • Spare tire with original stickers, never been pumped
  • Replacement spare tire pump
  • Car cover included

Roger Rodas' widow suing Porsche over Carrera GT crash

Tue, 13 May 2014

Investigations undertaken by local law enforcement may have vindicated Porsche from any wrongdoing in the crash that killed actor Paul Walker and racing driver Roger Rodas last year, but the latter's widow is apparently not convinced. According to emerging reports, Kristine Rodas has filed a lawsuit seeking unspecified damages from Porsche Cars North America.
In her suit filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court, Rodas' attorney Mark Geragos reportedly disputes the findings of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which asserted that the vehicle was traveling at an unsafe speed of 90 miles per hour on city streets, identifying the speed as the cause of the accident. Instead the lawsuit claims that the vehicle was only going 55 mph and that the cause of the crash was improper equipment - namely a faulty right rear suspension and the lack of a crash cage and proper fuel tank.

Trump calls Germans 'very bad,' vows to stop their car sales in US

Fri, May 26 2017

TAORMINA, Italy -Talks between President Trump and other leaders of the world's rich nations at the G7 summit on Friday were expected to be "robust" and "challenging" after he had lambasted NATO allies and condemned Germans as "very bad" for their trade policies. Trump's confrontational remarks in Brussels, on the eve of the two-day summit in the Mediterranean resort town of Taormina, cast a pall over a meeting at which America's partners had hoped to coax him into softening his stances on trade and climate change. According to German media reports, Trump condemned Germany as "very bad" for its trade policies in a meeting with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, signaling he might take steps to limit sales of German cars in the United States. "The Germans are bad, very bad," he reportedly told Juncker. "Look at the millions of cars that they're selling in the USA. Horrible. We're gonna stop that." White House economic adviser Gary Cohn on Friday confirmed the reports. "He said they're very bad on trade, but he doesn't have a problem with Germany." Cohn said Trump had pointed out during the meeting that his father had German roots in order to underscore the message that he had nothing against the German people. Trump's spokesman Sean Spicer said Trump had "tremendous respect" for Germany and had only complained about unfair trade practices in the meeting. Juncker called the reports in Spiegel Online and Sueddeutsche Zeitung exaggerated. The reports translated "bad" with the German word "boese," which can also mean "evil," leading to confusion when English-language media translated the German reports back into English. "The record has to be set straight," Juncker said, noting that the translation issue had exaggerated the seriousness of what Trump had said. "It's not true that the president took an aggressive approach when it came to the German trade surplus." "He said, like others have, that (the United States) has a problem with the German surplus. So he was not aggressive at all," Juncker added. In January, Trump threatened to slap a 35 percent tax on German auto imports. "If you want to build cars in the world, then I wish you all the best. You can build cars for the United States, but for every car that comes to the USA, you will pay 35 percent tax," he said. "I would tell BMW that if you are building a factory in Mexico and plan to sell cars to the USA, without a 35 percent tax, then you can forget that." Last year, the U.S.

Jaguar F-Type pitted against Porsche 911 Cabriolet by Tiff Needell

Wed, 24 Apr 2013

You knew it wouldn't take long and it looks like EVO is first onto YouTube with a battle between the 2014 Jaguar F-Type and the 2013 Porsche 911. Tiff Needell spends a few laps warming up the tires (read: drifting like mad) in each droptop before getting in a timed run to see who's champion and who's second best.
Before the bell rings, its the Porsche that's got everything to lose, the 50-year-old era-defining sportscar getting on with a 3.4-liter flat-six, 350 horsepower, a seven-speed manual and a 3,197-pound curb weight. Other sportscars, like the F-Type, continue to eye the 911 like a flag atop Everest that they plan to first touch, and then rip from its socket. The mid-trim Jaguar rolls into the contest with a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 with 380 hp, an eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters and a curb weight of 3,521 pounds.
The video below shows you what happens when you let all those numbers fight it out on the same stretch of curvy track. Check it out.
