Up for sale is my 1979 Porsche 911 SC.  It's a great car that looks completely original from the top all the way down to it's Fuch wheels.  I purchased it in 2009 in Manassas, VA.  I believe the car has spent the majority of it's life in Virginia.  I had it in Virginia until June of 2010, and then it spent three years in Columbus, OH (always garaged and driven only in clear weather in the winter), and it currently resides in Kentucky.

I'm an Army officer stationed at Fort Knox and preparing to deploy in the spring of next year.  I have two other cars for my wife to manage, so it's time to sell the Porsche.  I have receipts that date back to 2003.  In 2008, it received the upgraded timing chain tensioners to the "carrera" tensioners and also has the "pop off" valve in the air box.  The car looks and runs great.  I've used it as my daily driver since April of 2009.  Best runs on the weekends, preferably to a golf course.

Condition:  Car looks and runs great.  Paint is not perfect but very good in my opinion...a few small scratches in the paint and some chipping at the bottom of the front bumper, normal wear for a daily driver.  Recently drove 200 miles south from Columbus, OH to Fort Knox in 90 degree weather with no issues other than the AC does not blow cold, so I was hot, but the car was not.

Cosmetic defects:  it has tears in the upper side of driver's seat near the door, duct tape on the headliner on the passenger side, and a few cracks in the dash (all pictured).

Mechanical defects:  AC blows but not cold and cruise control does not work.

Please feel free ask any questions of come to inspect the car at Fort Knox.

UK Porsche GT3 owners are irked that other countries are getting better deals

Sun, 27 Apr 2014

Porsche 911 GT3 owners in the United Kingdom are up in arms, but it's not for the reason you might think. Okay, well it sort of is. See, it's been fairly well documented that 911 GT3 owners have had their cars grounded over concerns that the engines could catch fire. Porsche is rushing to build and install replacement engines in all 800 or so cars, scattered around the globe.
This isn't really the issue. The problem for these British owners is compensation. While the car's have been grounded, car notes still need to be paid. To deal with this, American GT3 owners are being paid $2,000 per month. German owners get 175 euros ($242 at today's rates) per day while a GT3 owner in Dubai is allegedly receiving $12,000 (it's unclear if this is a lump sum or a monthly payment). Basically, if you aren't able to drive your six-figure super car, you shouldn't have to pay for it. Seems reasonable regardless of the make.
British owners, though, aren't being compensated, and for 30 to 35 owners, that's not acceptable. They've banded together and are led by Sunil Mehra.

Mercedes S63 AMG Coupe vs Porsche Panamera Turbo S in unusual lux showdown

Fri, 07 Nov 2014

We'll admit it, we're really looking forward to more time with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe. Compared to other high-dollar luxury coupes - we're looking at you Bentley Continental GT - it's more stylish, easily more affordable, and since it's a Mercedes, lacks the sense of fragility that comes with a more exotic name plate.
Auto Express has taken a whack at reviewing the new two-door S-Class, and for some reason, the British mag is comparing it with a Porsche Panamera. Now, while comparing the looks of an S-Class Coupe and a Panamera is a bit like holding a beauty contest between Kate Upton and Medusa, this isn't as bizarre a pair as you might think, particularly when you opt for the high-dollar S63 AMG Coupe and the Panamera Turbo S.
The two offer similar power outputs from their force-induced V8s - 577 horsepower in the Benz and 570 horsepower in the Porsche - and are even similar in terms of interior and exterior dimensions. The S-Class actually has an extra inch between the axles and is 1.2 inches longer overall (it's also about 300 pounds heavier). In the cabin, the S-Class also has a tiny bit more rear legroom, with 33.4 inches to the Panamera's 33.3.

Supercar parade entering highway is mesmerizing

Thu, 09 May 2013

In what must have looked and sounded to motorists on the M6 like an invasion of The Swarm, a parade of 50 enthusiast gems leaving a charity event were caught shooting down the on-ramp and merging into traffic. There were plenty of Porsches joining the 959 and Ducktail above, Aston Martins going back to the badboy V8 of the last millennium, a Ferrari Testarossa, a TVR and numerous other Easter eggs.
There were not, however, plenty of turn signals, with someone counting just five among the fifty engaging in proper use of the blinker. One reason put forth for that is the same reason we're posting this video, which is from last Summer, below: "because supercar." Enjoy.
