You are bidding on a two owner, early Intermeccanica, factory assembled, Speedster (S/N 339). It has German square weave carpet and speedster bucket seats with carpet backing, as was done with

the original Porsche cars. The vehicle's gelcoat is worn in places having a patina that makes it look old, as does the faded Hartz cloth top. The engine is a 1600 dual port with a 2 barrel Webber carburetor
in the center. It has drum brakes all the way around, but comes with a disc brake kit for front and rear drilled for 5 stud, 911/912 Fuchs pattern wheels. It has a well fitted tonneau, a bra and an additional
brand new Hartz cloth top as part of the package. It has a set of 4 new tires. As shown in the photos, it has black Porsche 912 instrumentation, but comes with an early 912 chrome set as well, so one
can have it either way. I also have a spare windshield which fits it. Although a couple of photos show dual exhaust, it currently is fitted with a Bursch extractor system. The VIN reflects a VW, ball joint,
swing axel undercarriage, actual year for which has never been established.

It is a simple, reliable, rugged, no-rust vehicle that one can drive and park without having concerns over doors being dinged and the body getting dented. It is a fun driving machine and most practical
way to have "take anywhere" Speedster. I drive this and leave my collector cars in the garage. :)

The mid-engine Porsche backstory

Thu, 09 Oct 2014

As an automaker's identity evolves over years, its signature becomes defined by any number of factors - heritage (Mercedes-Benz), image (Lamborghini), or market share (Toyota). In the case of Porsche, it was an engineering quirk that forged the German company's most enduring character trait.
Porsche would not have survived - let alone, thrived - in today's saturated landscape had it not been for the 911, and that slope-tailed sports car wouldn't have sprung to life without its predecessor, the 356. While phenomenal success of those rear-engine icons built the company, forays into the mid-engine configuration have played a significant part in establishing the brand's identity.

Good Samaritan pulls key from hit-and-run driver

Mon, Feb 15 2016

A man in England stopped a hit-and-run driver from fleeing the scene by grabbing her keys from the ignition. On February 13, Michael Scott witnessed a crash on a busy road in Birmingham, England according to the Telegraph. He watched as a Vauxhall Astra crashed into a Porsche right in front of his vehicle. At first, it seemed like the offending driver was going to stop, but she just kept going. Luckily, Scott had his dashboard camera rolling at the time. "I was shocked when the Astra driver didn't stop, and just carried on accelerating up the road," Scott told the Telegraph. "I thought the driver was trying to do a runner, so when the car in front of me moved off I managed to speed up and block the Astra in. Scott rushed ahead of traffic to cut off the Vauxhall in a turn lane a few hundred feet from where the crash originally occurred. The running driver then maneuvered around Scott, but was blocked by another car from making a clean getaway. Scott then nabbed the driver's keys to keep her from fleeing again. "I was in a rush so I couldn't stop, but I gave her keys to the Porsche driver and left," Scott told the Telegraph. "I contacted the police to let them know I had footage of the incident too." When police arrived they found both drivers were unhurt, though the Porsche will probably need some expensive repairs. The fleeing driver was charged with drinking and driving and is currently out on bail.

We get wet with Porsche's Cayman GT4 and 911 GT3 RS

Fri, Nov 13 2015

In case you missed them, we recently published our First Drive impressions on the super-hot 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 and the 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Spoiler alert: they're lovely. In order to properly test these new machines, Porsche let senior editor Alex Kierstein loose on Road Atlanta. But rather than a blissful day of warm, dry conditions, this test session proved to be a super gross experience. The track was soaked. But that didn't stop Kierstein from manhandling both coupes with confidence. Credit where credit's due, Alex said the tires on the GT3 RS were absolutely amazing, and proved helpful for getting the most out of the most hardcore 911 in these incredibly damp conditions. Have a look at Kierstein's experience in both cars, in the video above. We can't wait to get these bad boys out on some dry roads.
