1968 Pontiac GTO project. Car is sold as is with no warranty. I have a clear West Virginia title # G496298. VIN is 242378g119362. Trim tag indicates 223 and G-2 paint. Originally came with a 400 and automatic. Floor console mounts are there. Original bucket seats and rear seats are included. dash appears to be mostly complete. Endura front bumper, grilles, vacuum parts and mounting hardware appears complete. Frame is solid. Front & rear windshields are good no cracks. Floors, trunk, quarter panels and rear window area will need repair. I am including two new trunk floor braces, rear window panel replacement panel and a passenger side quarter panel. Two new reproduction fenders are included. An original ram air hood stripped to bare medal is included. The hood is in very good condition except it does have holes for hood pins as so many do. I am also including a good 68 passenger side gto door. The trunk lid has rust at the rear. The rear bumper is dented. The radiator support is in good condition. The fenderwells are in good condition. The guy I bought it from told me that  the transmission is original. Flex plate is included as is a driveshaft. I had the trans shipped to me from his house in North Carolina. I am including an engine block (9790071), crank, rods, pistons, oil pan, harmonic balancer which I believe are correct for the car but I am not a GTO expert. The car has the original posi rear with tags.   The wheels/tires are just going to be rollers to get it loaded. This is a no reserve auction. I am not selling this car locally. So the winning bidder gets it. If you have any questions send me a message and I will answer them. I am not a dealer and have a full time job so be patient. I have tried to describe this car as accurately as I can. If you have no prior purchases than do not bid on this car. I will cancel your bids. Thank you and good luck.

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes

Thu, 10 May 2012

When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.

This KITT replica sold at auction for $32,500

Thu, Apr 23 2020

UPDATE: This 1987 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am KITT replica officially sold for $32,500. Here's hoping the new owner has a blast throwin' it into Pursuit Mode. Let's get one thing straight right off the bat: This isn't a perfect KITT replica. The original KITT used in the Knight Rider TV series was based on a 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. The one you see above, which is currently for sale at auction site Bring A Trailer, is a 1987 model, and since it's a GTA edition, it has some extra body cladding that the smooth-sided television car lacked. That aside, most casual observers would probably never notice the difference, and even those who did (like us) are still likely to be impressed by the car's transformation. This KITT replica is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. It ought to be fairly quick, though quite a bit shy of the fictional car's very fictional 300-mph top speed. We're not exactly Knight Rider experts, but some quick Google sleuthing suggests that the Knight Industries Two Thousand supposedly cost more than $11,000,000 to build in Hollywoodland. This one will surely command a significantly lower sum — as of this writing, it's been bid up to $18,000 with four days remaining on the auction. This content is hosted by a third party. There are several videos of the car that detail its modifications inside and out, but suffice it to say it seems to be a well-sorted replica. Here's hoping its new owner keeps it well clear of other KARRs. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
