I'm selling a 1996 Firebird Formula Convertible for my sister.  The Formula has a new top installed about a year and a half ago and has the 5.7 LT1 V8 with headers and a Flowmaster exhaust that sounds awesome.  It has been tuned by Garret Tunning for better fuel economy and more power as well as operating the fans at a lower temp so the car runs cooler.  The car has a brand new ignition system including the optispark.  It has a posi disc rear.  The tires are brand new on the back and the tires in the front have 50% tread.  This is a very clean car with low miles.  The car is only being sold because of her growing family.  There is some minor curb rash on the one front wheel.  The hinge on the center console lid is broke off and there are is some spiderwebbing of the paint on the front and rear bumper, both issues are very common with these cars. The ac blows but is not cold.  Everything is there, it may just need recharged.  The passengerside window woks most of the time but sometimes will only go up and down a couple inches at a time.  There is some slight pancaking on the driverside rear quarter that can be seen in the pics.  The car leaves a drip of oil here and there and I believe it to be leaking around a sensor that threads into the oilpan, a little thread sealer on the sensor threads should seal it.  The actual mileage on the car is 72,XXX miles even though it's listed at 77,900.  The car was in our family for several years.  When my sister purchased the car from my father, they inadvertanly reported several thousand more miles than it actually is when changing the title. Rather than send in a correction and risk a mileage discrepancy with the title, they left it as it was.  It's not a big deal, but I want to be clear.

The car will come with the 16 inch aluminum wheels in the last pic, not the chrome zr1 wheels in the first 3 pics.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial

Sat, 16 Mar 2013

The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.

GM Recalls 1.5 Million Cars For Steering Defect

Tue, Apr 1 2014

General Motors Co. said Monday it is recalling 1.5 million vehicles worldwide because the electronic power-steering assist can suddenly stop working, making them harder to steer. The new recall brings to 6.3 million the number of vehicles GM has recalled since February. The initial recall - now at 2.6 million small cars for an ignition switch defect - prompted the automaker to name a new safety chief and speed up the review of cases that might lead to recalls. GM said it expects recall-related costs to total $750 million in the first quarter, including $300 million for the ignition switch recall. Included in the new recall are: - Chevrolet Malibu from the 2004-2005 model years, plus some 2006, 2008 and 2009 model-year cars. - Chevrolet Malibu Maxx from the 2004-2005 model years, plus some 2006 model-year cars. - Chevrolet HHR from the 2009-2010 model years (non-turbocharged only). - Some Chevrolet Cobalts from the 2010 model year. - Some Saturn Auras from the 2008-2009 model years. - Saturn Ion from the 2004-2007 model years. - Pontiac G6 from the 2005 model year, plus some cars from the 2006, 2008 and 2009 model years. - Service parts installed into certain vehicles before May 31, 2010, under a previous recall GM says no deaths related to the defect have been reported. It is still investigating whether there have been any accidents or injuries related to the problem. GM dealers will replace the power steering motor and other parts for free. Spokesman Alan Adler said owners will be notified of the recall the week of April 28 and will be told when parts are available after that. The Cobalt and the Ion, which are also involved in the ignition switch recall, share many common parts.GM recalled Cobalts from the 2005-2010 model years for the power steering defect in 2010, but it's unclear why the company didn't recall the Ion at the same time. Federal regulators also opened an investigation into power steering complaints in the Ion in 2010, but didn't order a recall.
