HISTORY

I recently purchased this car from a couple that are now in their very late 70s along with their 64 sunflower yellow GTO and their 74 Cameo White Grand Prix SJ both under 12,000 miles . They never traded in a car. Over the last several years it became harder for the elderly couple to keep up with all these cars but they did the best they could as they sat in the 4 bay garage the owner built for his beloved Pontiacs. These cars were NEVER offered or advertised for sale. A true American Picker type story.

THE CAR ITSELF

You are looking at an all Original including paint very desireable RUST FREE 77SJ triple black t top with yes 12,325 ORIGINAL MILES, NOT 112325.This SJ as ordered by the original owner and has the rare t tops along with seldom seen tachometer and sport steering wheel .The owner ordered with no power windows and no power door locks as he did not like them in case they malfunctioned. The paint is still very good and has a brilliant shine and there is no sun fade on hood or trunk. There are though   some areas where the paint has started checking(cracking NOT RUST) as was common with these 77 GM laquer paint jobs. This SJ was NEVER SPOT PAINTED OR TOUCHED UP and NO BODY WORK WAS EVER DONE.  THESE CARS ARE ONLY ORIGINAL ONCE.There is also about a 3 inch scratch on the right front fender and some dings on that wheel well molding from  the previous owner scraping the garage pulling out. The chrome and other stainless trim are in very good condition. The headlight bezels which still house the original headlights are like new. The bumper fillers are not cracked and still look new.The padded landau top is excellent with a nice lustre and no cracks or bubbles.ALL the glass is original with no chips in the windshield and no scratches on the side glass. The T Tops are not scratched. As you can see the interior is like new with no rips or tears or wear on piping on drivers seat. the carpet is not faded. The dash has no cracks and the dash bezel and console look like a car with 12,325 miles. The engine compartment  is very clean and has the ORIGINAL hood insulation, and trunk is very clean and neat and still has its original spare tire. The undercarraige has minor surface rust only. If you are really knowledgeable on these 77s and know what you are looking at and where to look you have no doubt the miles ARE 12,325  For example if it were 112325 the words unleaded fuel only by the gas tank would be worn off, the original headlights, the unmarked dash with no knicks, and the spotless original bright wheel trim rings with not a mark or a ding are only a few tell tale signs This car was zbarted when new on the undercarriage and under hood where applicable, there is the yellow decal still intact on back window lower right and the certificate is included in paperwork. The SJ comes with the original title, factory invoice, and all original owners manuals and sales literature from 1977. A picture with the original owners standing by the SJ 2 days after they purchased it in 1977 is included.

THE MECHANICALS

Everything except the clock is in excellent working order, heat, the AC which has been converted to the new system and blows cold. The radio 8 track play crystal clear. The windshield wipers are still the original stainless with new rubber. The waterpump, thermostat, and alternator are less than 6 months old.The AC delco battery, the entire exhaust system, and the BF Goodrich TAs are less than 2 years old. I had the car tuned up, oil and oil filter, fuel filter, and air filter changed 3 weeks ago.The SJ has NO fluid leaks. All AC Delco parts were used. This SJ sounds and runs and rides like new.

Ask yourself this ,when will another 77SJ Triple Black T Top with so few miles come along again???

****ALL INSPECTIONS TO BE DONE PRIOR TO AUCTION END

Thanks for stopping by and GOOD LUCK if you decide to bid!!!

CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero

Fri, 26 Oct 2012

At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."

'67 Chevy Corvair convertible vs. '86 Pontiac Fiero in cult classic showdown

Fri, 22 Aug 2014

Every few a decades, the folks running General Motors lose their minds briefly try to market a car that public doesn't see coming and often aren't ready for. In the '60s there was the rear-engine, air-cooled Chevrolet Corvair, then the mid-engine Pontiac Fiero in the '80s and the completely bizarre Chevy SSR in the 2000s. What all of these had in common was that they bucked the trend for American models of their era, for better or worse. The latest episode of Generation Gap tasked the hosts with finding two cult classic vehicles to choose between; they came come up with two of these quirky products from The General.
On the classic side, there's a 1967 Chevy Corvair Monza convertible. Being from later in the production run, it wears slightly more aerodynamic styling than the earlier, boxier examples. Hanging out back is an air-cooled, 2.7-liter flat-six pumping out a robust 95 horsepower. In the other corner is the somewhat more modern 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE with a mid-mounted, 2.5-liter "Iron Duke" four-cylinder, an engine nearly ubiquitous in GM cars of the '80s.
Judging by when they were new, the Corvair was far more successful than the Fiero with over 1.8 million sold. Of course, Ralph Nader's book Unsafe at Any Speed kind of poisoned the well, even if the poor safety reputation wasn't entirely deserved. The Fiero on the other hand only lasted for a few model years before shuffling off, but it eventually got its own performance boost with the V6 version and rather attractive GT models. Check them both out in the video and tell us in Comments which you want in your garage.

eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile

Sun, 29 Apr 2012

Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.
