This is my sisters car.  It is a one family vehicle as my dad purchased it brand new from Miller Pontiac/GMC for her and he originally titled it in his name.  When my sister got married the title was transferred to her name as she moved to Teaneck, NJ. I believe the DMV still considers the car a one owner vehicle since she did not have to pay sales tax when the title was transferred to her name.  I have the clean/clear title in hand.  Autocheck shows two owners, Carfax shows one.  I wanted to explain the discrepancy.  The two owner are my father and sister.

I uploaded a video of the vehicle to youtube here:

I was able in early January to get a carfax of the car printed out by a friend that purchased the 5 vehicle carfax bundle.  I scanned in the carfax, please click the links to view the 6 pages of carfax.

The Carfax shows the car value as $60 above retail book value.  It is also eligible for the Carfax buyback guarantee:

The vehicle was involved in a fender bender in 2008.  I had the vehicle towed home and had my friend repair the car for around $1500.  It was very minor damage, but I told my sister to have it towed home just in case as she had AAA and it happened locally in Edison, NJ.  My friend replaced the upper tie bar and bent the hood back into place.  He also replaced both headlights as they had a tiny crack in them that led to them fogging up whenever it rained.  The car runs and drives perfectly.  My sister has driven 60k miles since the fender bender and never had any issues related to the accident (except a few minor cosmetic flaws, like the pontiac kidney grills in the bumper not fitting 100%, please see pictures).

The car has been maintained meticulously.  The only reason for selling the car is my sister is expecting her 2nd child any day now and she felt she needed a larger vehicle.  I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone, so I purchased a Jaguar for my mother (yes, she was pleased and surprised!) and my mothers 2007 Impala has been gifted to my sister.  The Pontiac has been a reliable car, only a few minor repairs at the dealer covered under the 5yr/100k mile warranty which has now expires as it is just past 5 years old.

The tires were replaced at Costco with Michellin Hydroedge tires when the car had 62,379miles on 06/06/2011
The tires have a 90,000 warranty with road hazard from Costco.

A large tune-up on the vehicle was done at the same time as the tire replacement.  The spark plugs (replaced with OEM Denso Iridium spark plugs), shocks/struts at all wheels with Monroe Sensatracks (two were purchased on eBay new of course, the other two were from advance auto parts) , transmission filter + fluid (royal purple ATF) and alignment were all done at the same time.  At 70,000 miles I replaced all 4 rotors & pads with Wearever Gold Brake pads.  I can find all the receipts for this work as I have the email order confirmations in my email for each purchase.

The coolant has been drained and replaced two times during the life of the vehicle.

The Battery is new and was just changed one month ago with an Autocraft gold battery from Advance Auto Parts.

The oil and filter have always been changed on time.  Currently the oil was changed at 89,000 miles with Pennzoil Platinum synthetic.  My sister would usually get the oil changed when the indicator showed 30-40% (half the time I did the oil changes and I would use synthetic, half the time it was regular oil when she went to her local place).

The air filter have been changed every 15k miles and is currently ready for another change in 100 miles.

Two keys are included with the car.  A third key my sister had made to keep in her pocketbook in case she locked the main key in the car.  This third key will only work for the doors as the car has an immobilizer security system and the Pontiac keys have a computer chip, this extra key will also be included.

If you have any questions you can reach me on my cell phone at 732-991-1467.  You can call to arrange to have your mechanic inspect the car and to arrange a test drive.

The vehicle Mileage may go up by ~250 miles during the course of the auction.

Junkyard Gem: 1989 Pontiac Sunbird SE Coupe

Sat, Jun 11 2022

General Motors built the fantastically successful J-Body cars starting at the dawn of the 1980s and continuing well into our current century, on five continents. The Pontiac Division's version of the J started out being called the J2000 and the 2000, then got the Sunbird name originally used on the Pontiac-ized Chevy Monza starting in 1983. Here's a once-slick-looking 1989 Sunbird SE Coupe, found at a Minneapolis-area boneyard way back in 2016. The best-known of all the J-Body cars, here, was the Chevrolet Cavalier, but Pontiac far outdid even the most blinged-up Cavalier Z24 when it came to elaborate taillights. Because this is Minnesota, the car is a patchwork of various layers of junkyard-obtained rusty body parts. One fender has TURBO badges from a Sunbird GT. The other side has the correct engine badges for this model. That engine is a 2.0-liter, single-overhead-cam straight-four from an engine family originally developed for the Opel Kadett D. This one was rated at 96 horsepower when new. This one has the automatic transmission, so it wouldn't have been very much fun to drive. Check out that cool parking brake handle, though! And, hey, is that a full can of Colorado Cool-Aid in the foot well? You'd think a proper Minnesota Pontiac would at least be full of Grain Belt cans. It appears that Higley Ford in Windom, Minn., had this car on the lot at some point. Windom is closer to Sioux Falls than to Minneapolis. This final mileage total looks good for a car living in Tinworm Country. Pontiac built this generation of Sunbird from the 1988 through 1994 model years, though it was really just a facelift of the first-generation cars. Starting in 1995, the Pontiac J-Body became the Sunfire, and production continued until the J platform itself got the axe in 2005. This content is hosted by a third party. Baseball team to dress like Trans Am, complete with screaming chicken

Fri, Feb 8 2019

Come to think of it, the Screaming Chicken actually sounds like the name of a minor league baseball team. Well, it isn't, but the famous logo of the same name that graced the hood of the 1970s Pontiac Trans Am will at least be making it to a baseball uniform this summer. The Lansing Lugnuts, a Single-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, will be rocking these special uniforms to honor the late Burt Reynolds and his film Smokey and the Bandit. By default, it will also be honoring the car the movie made famous: the 1977 Trans Am painted black with gold trim and, of course, the screaming chicken on the hood. This is a pretty good history of the emblem. So why the Lugnuts and Burt Reynolds? Although he claimed to be born in Georgia for much of his career, he admitted in a 2015 autobiography that he was in fact born in Lansing, Mich. After a few years, his family settled in Florida. Not exactly hometown hero stuff, but minor league baseball promotions have been made of more tenuous connections. The Burt Reynolds tribute night will be July 20, and if you want to get a screaming chicken jersey for yourself (I mean, wouldn't they be perfect for a cars and coffee?), the game-used jerseys will be auctioned off for charity after the game.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
