The cleanest, most-customized Mercury Cougar I've personally ever seen. It took me over 2 years to fully customize this car. I have friends with super cars (McLaren's, Lamborghini's, etc) who admire this car. This car has been invited to car shows in Pittsburgh (though I chose to never attend). Obviously, there are no mechanical issues with a car like this. I am letting go of it simply because I do not drive it anymore, I don't take it to car shows, I don't do anything with it at all, and I feel a car like this belongs with an owner who will give it at least some kind of attention. For a business, this would also make a great car to be wrapped in graphics/logos for promotional purposes.

A few details about the customization:
- Completely wide, uni-body design. There are no seems in this body at all, it's a single piece.
- Luxury/Legacy chrome rims & performance tires (only 2 years old, tires were barely driven in that time - less than 100 miles)
- Red & black leather interior
- Underbody red NEON lights (looks very cool)
- Red NEON lights also in the interior to glow the floor space
- Touch screen DVD player, CD & MP3 player with bluetooth in dash console (if you pair once with your iPhone, iPad or Android, every time you get in the car you just hit play music from your device & it will work wirelessly without any delay or setup require)
- Lamborghini-style doors (both of them)
- Fiberglass hood
- Various other aesthetic customizations
- Door popper kit comes with car (but not installed) - [For those who may not know]: if installed, a door popper kit will allow you to remove the door handles completely & the car doors will open up automatically with a keychain button

A few details about the car itself:
- V6 2.5L DOHC engine
- 92k miles
- 5-speed, manual transmission
- Power windows
- Power adjusting drive-side seat
- Rear buckets seats, very nice with leather interior & comfortable ride if you have passengers

I did not do much upgrading to the engine, so it's prime for anybody that wants to. It's a pretty fast car as is, but if you install a turbo charger or even a cheaper NOS system, it will be "very" fast, if that's your thing.

Before long, this car will be a classic (I already sort'of consider it one). Cougars were discontinued in 2002, so one in this condition is a really rare find for any car enthusiast.

On a final note: I'm someone who is really into Bitcoin and the crypto world. If anybody wants to pay in Bitcoin or a major crypto currency (NXT, DRK, LTC, etc), I would welcome it and even offer a slight discount on the price. That's completely optional though.

eBay Find of the Day: Craterface's '49 Mercury convertible from Grease

Wed, 29 Jan 2014

Here is your chance to own your very own piece of greased lightning. Well, not the Greased Lighting, it's actually the black, flamed 1949 Mercury convertible that races against John Travolta in the classic 1978 movie Grease, and it's for auction on eBay Motors.
While it appeared in the film's exciting drag race in a Los Angeles storm drain, the hot rod was reportedly lost until last year, when the seller found it as a shell. He verified that it was the actual car with original builder, Eddie Paul, and sent the car for a complete restoration.
The auction includes original parts like the exhaust tips used in the movie and bent bumper from when it hit Travolta's car in the scene. The restorer recreated the scorpion stickers on the doors, razor hubcaps and license plate. He also installed a 1949 Mercury 255-cubic-inch (4.2-liter), flathead V8 and three-speed manual transmission with overdrive.

Icon and Stealth EV are building an electric Derelict Mercury

Mon, May 14 2018

Icon, a company known for its high-quality restomod vehicles, is building another Derelict, this one a 1949 Mercury coupe. While the fact Icon is building another one of its sleeper hot rods with patina isn't the most shocking, what's under the hood is. The company has teamed up with Stealth EV to turn this latest Derelict into an electric car. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. The car was shown in the above Twitter post with video. The exterior is just what you'd expect from an Icon Derelict. It's solid but with a weathered finish. And even as the guy from Stealth EV approaches the car, it looks like it has a V8 under the hood. But as he explains, there's actually the two motor controllers and half of a Tesla battery pack under there. It's just that they've all been given some classy looking metal casings and mounted to look like a V8. Apparently the motors themselves are in the transmission tunnel. The Stealth EV rep says it uses a pair of AM Racing motors. Depending on which motor controllers the companies are using, those motors could produce as much as 700 horsepower. Power will go to the rear wheels and no transmission will be used, making it direct drive. It will have a limited-slip differential, and the whole car sits on an Art Morrison chassis with independent suspension. This actually isn't the first electric Icon, nor the first developed with Stealth EV. Before this, the companies created a totally awesome electric Volkswagen Thing. That little truck made much less power at 180 horses, but it was also a way smaller and lighter vehicle. Related Video:

Ford announces free brake pad offer if customers stop by dealers

Mon, 04 Aug 2014

These days, when you buy a new car, it's not unreasonable to expect a certain period of free maintenance to come along as well. Sometimes this is through the life of the warranty, in other cases a little less. But Ford Motor Company is going beyond those deals for at least one part of its cars. As of now, if you buy a set of Motorcraft brake pads for a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury model, you get free replacements for as long as you own the vehicle. The offer is good at Ford or Lincoln dealers and Quick Lane Tire & Auto Centers.
"We will replace the pads for as long as you own the vehicle," said Elizabeth Weigandt to Autoblog. She did clarify that the Motorcraft pads are generally for models from the '90s or newer. Also, to take advantage of this program, a person must return to the same dealer each time to get the free parts.
Of course, Ford isn't just handing out brake pads to anyone who walks by; there are certain stipulations. First, the components have to be worn down to less than three millimeters to be eligible, and the buyer still has to pay for the labor to install them. If the model is used as a fleet vehicle for commercial purposes like as a taxi or limousine, this offer also doesn't apply; the same thing for racecars. On the plus side, if you recently bought a set of pads from one of the participating locations, you're still in luck. The deal covers parts purchased as of July 1.
