Up for sale is a 1970 Cougar Eliminator project car. It is am M code 351C 4 bbl with an automatic FMX transmission. It does not have many options other than power steering and a center console. Originally was a manual brake car, but previous owner converted to front disc brakes. Car comes with a Marti report and an Eminger invoice that verifies it as an Eliminator. It is a southern car with a 21 DSO(Atlanta). I have owned this car for over 10 years and have been restoring and collecting parts for it for as long. I have bought three cars just for parts to contribute to this one. There is way to much info to put down in this small space, so call me with any questions (256) 282-4055.

Current State:

Car is a rolling chassis, with engine and transmission removed, quarter windows and back glass removed, and interior removed. Recently had a professional replace floor pans. A lot of the  parts have been restored and are in boxes. Car does have new upper and lower control arms and spring perches. Some of the parts worth noting are:

-- rechromed bumpers front and rear with restored bumper brackets

-- rechromed rear turn signal assemblies with restored lenses

   -- rechromed quarter window moldings

-- rebuilt dash, upper and lower, with all camera case trim present, new headlight switch, nice dashpad, correct working am radio w/ new surround bezel

   -- restored turn signal assemblies

   -- restored side marker assemblies

-- correct 70 sport mirrors, right and left

-- nice decklid trim and blackout stripe kit

-- nice, possibly NOS, exterior door handle assemblies

   -- nice center console

-- new KYB shocks front and rear

--- all Eliminator correct parts, camera case dash, hood scoop, rear spoiler with support brackets, walking cat fuel door, etc

Driveline:

Original engine and transmission were gone when I bought the car. Does have a 351C and FMX that have supposedly been rebuilt and have 3000 miles on them, but can not document. Engine has 2bbl heads on it now, but I have a rebuilt set of closed chamber heads and factory cast iron intake to go with it. Exhaust manifolds have been blasted and painted with Eastwood cast iron high temp paint and heat cured. Have a nice rebuilt automatic shifter with lock out rod. I do not have the automatic kick down rod. Driveshaft has yet to be touched, but is there. Rear end is a 3.25 open , if it is the same it is built with. Have not done anything to the rear axle. I do have the correct air cleaner, heat shield and S tube. It presently has a set of 69 GT wheels on it.

Sheet metal:

Have gone through three different cats and picked the best sheet metal for the Eliminator. Very nice doors and fenders and decklid, and hood. The right rear quarter has a wave near the body line and was recommended it be replaced. The left quarter has some filler in front of the wheel well from previous damage. I have a right rear quarter that comes with the car. Floor pans have been replaced. Torque boxes, trunk drop-offs, aprons. rockers, cowl, roof, frame rails, shock towers, all are solid. The left torque box does have one small piece of the vertical area, where the parking brake cable goes through, that has some rust, but structurally solid. The battery apron was replaced by previous owner. Has nice stone shield, front and rear valance.

Interior:

Car originally came with standard black interior. I do have a used set of standard door panels and rear quarter panels. They are far from perfect, but not junk either. Nice center console. No carpet, headliner or weatherstrip. I do have repop sail panels and package tray. Seat belts are all there, but need restoring. Seats upholstery is older, possibly original, but is ok without any rips or tears.

Parts I know that will be needed that I do not have:

---- Carpet, weatherstripping, brake lines(may have some used ones),fuel lines, nuts and bolts and various hardware, exhaust system with h pipe, etc.

Everything Else;

There is a lot that I have not mentioned, not on purpose, but because there is so much information in my brain on this car because I have owned it so long. If you have any interest in this vehicle, it would be best to call me at (256)282-4055. Best time to call would be during the day, 8-5.It is easier for me to tell you about the car than to type about it. This car is registered in Alabama, where there are no titles on vehicles prior to 1975. This car does not have a title. Buyer will receive a written bill of sale and a copy of the registration. Car to be picked up in Anniston, Alabama in a reasonable amount of time, no marathons. Prefer that potential buyer preview car in person, if at all possible.

Ford Recalling 70k Escape and Mariner Hybrids for cooling issue

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Ford is recalling about 70,209 examples of the 2005-2008 Ford Escape Hybrid and the 2006-2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid because the cooling pumps for their hybrid systems could fail.
According to the company's defect notice, it's possible for the original "Motor Electronics Coolant (MEC) Pump" to wear out and fail, which would could cause the hybrid system to overheat. If this happens, the vehicle goes into a safety mode that takes away most or all of its power. However, braking and steering still operate normally. After cooling down, the affected models restart normally. The company says that it's not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem.
Ford will begin repairing the vehicles in late October, and dealers will be installing improved, brushless pumps on the affected models at no charge to owners. If drivers had their pumps fail before this recall, they can contact Ford for a possible reimbursement. Is this '47 Chevrolet a rat rod or a sports car?

Sun, May 22 2016

These days there are plenty of vehicles that blur the conventional automotive class structures. For instance, was the Honda Crosstour a wagon or an SUV? And what exactly was the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet? Regardless, those line-blurring cars (or trucks) are out there, and though this one didn't roll off a production line, it's still quite the automotive head-scratcher. Hailing from Missouri, this epic creation is one part mad science experiment, one part 1947 Chevrolet pickup, and one part '95 Mercury Cougar. Add it all up and you get an awesome truck-sports-car hybrid, complete with an outrageous wing and a V8 to boot. And interestingly enough, it's up for sale . RELATED: Check out this Wild-Styled Lamborghini Rat Rod So how does it all come together? According to the listing, the Chevrolet truck cab (which had previously been chopped) was sanded down to bare metal and given a thorough shellacking of clear coat. It was then melded together with the front end of a 1995 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck, and set low to the ground on Bilstein suspension drop spindles. Stance achieved. But instead of fielding an engine from either of those pickups, it pulls its heart from a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV—a big 5.3-liter V8 heart, that is. It comes backed-up to a GM Turbo 400 automatic transmission. Towards the rear however is where things get really interesting. A Copper Pearl coated tube frame chassis both attaches the rear independent suspension (a la Mercury Cougar) to the racy spoiler, as well as secures the rat rod's rear-mounted radiator, fan, and fuel tank. I'm not quite sure why, but it just looks glorious. RELATED: Reports Say Mid-Engine Corvette Will Arrive in 2018 Inside the vintage cab, the Chevrolet furthers its racing proclivities (it's said to have won burnout and auto-cross events) with a pair of harnessed racing seats, a drift brake, a detachable steering wheel, and a tachometer with oil and temperature gauges, but oddly no speedometer. The shifter is a crescent wrench. And its shift boot? That's a Crown Royal Purple bag. All in all, this grin-worthy Frankenstein creation tallies up bits and pieces from four different vehicles (five if you include the Camaro wheels), which make it truly a mash-up of epic proportions. Internet, what do you think? Related Video: This article by Zach Doell originally appeared on Boldride. Ford Announces Free Brake-Pad Offer If Customers Stop By Dealers

Mon, Aug 4 2014

These days, when you buy a new car, it's not unreasonable to expect a certain period of free maintenance to come along as well. Sometimes this is through the life of the warranty, in other cases a little less. But Ford Motor Company is going beyond those deals for at least one part of its cars. As of now, if you buy a set of Motorcraft brake pads for a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury model, you get free replacements for as long as you own the vehicle. The offer is good at Ford or Lincoln dealers and Quick Lane Tire & Auto Centers. "We will replace the pads for as long as you own the vehicle," said Elizabeth Weigandt to Autoblog. She did clarify that the Motorcraft pads are generally for models from the '90s or newer. Also, to take advantage of this program, a person must return to the same dealer each time to get the free parts. Of course, Ford isn't just handing out brake pads to anyone who walks by; there are certain stipulations. First, the components have to be worn down to less than three millimeters to be eligible, and the buyer still has to pay for the labor to install them. If the model is used as a fleet vehicle for commercial purposes like as a taxi or limousine, this offer also doesn't apply; the same thing for racecars. On the plus side, if you recently bought a set of pads from one of the participating locations, you're still in luck. The deal covers parts purchased as of July 1. "This program reflects our commitment to providing customers with an excellent ownership experience regardless of the age of their vehicle," said Frederiek Toney, President of Ford Customer Service, in the company's announcement of the offer.
