1965 Mercury Comet Cylone Caliente on 2040-cars
Cape Coral, Florida, United States
a neat old unusual car hard to find REAL Cyclone model. bought from an owner since the 60's and left mostly un touched, has the usual rust issues, but reserved to mostly the rear lower quarters and trunk area. other areas are minor in my opinion! I have a rear section and trunk included that go with the buyer, the trim seems to be in boxes, not sure if all there? the seats and console, and all included with sale. no radio! it has a 289 with headers and an aftermarket 4 barrel. also an excel dual point distributor and coil. I did a compression check on the motor and it was high on all cylinders, 170 lbs +. I got the motor to start and run on a electric fuel pump and gas can. no knocks or noises. it has a ratchet floor shifter that is in neutral and I can not make it move to drive, so I did not move the car under it's own power. will try again if requested. I will have tires that hold air on it for shipping. the car needs total restoration! have clear Florida title. a personal inspection from buyer before sale is accepted. I bought the car with intensions of making a pro street car but it is too complete and original for that, so I have changed my intentions! this is a great find for the purist, and color combo. was unable to down load pictures, not sure why?? email me for pictures and I will also try to post pictures in the future. have several pictures to send you if desired!

Watch as an out-of-control car demolishes gas pump
Tue, May 2 2017A Baltimore area man was fighting for his life Tuesday after crashing his car into a gas station. According to WBAL, the unidentified 64-year-old lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons around 4:55 a.m. May 1 in Parkville, Md. The 2007 Mercury Milan careened downhill, ramped over a curb, and smashed full-speed into a gas station pump. The car then flipped and came to rest against one of the station's canopy support pillars. Don Karbowniczek, owner of a service station across the street, told WBAL he was shocked there wasn't more damage. It's also surprising that the car even made it to the pumps, as it had to thread past a coin-op vacuum machine, the station's sign, a utility pole, and a traffic light pole. "It came right through, took some of our bushes out, just trimmed them for us, and how it got through and flip the way it did, I don't know. From what I see on the marks, it had to go airborne and just come down on the pump," Karbowniczek said. Thankfully there was no fire or explosion. Gas pumps have shear valves - safety devices that immediately cut the flow of gasoline when a pump is damaged. The driver was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, and was in critical condition. Police theorized the driver may have become stricken with a health issue when he lost control. Feds open investigation into Chevy Express, Ford Freestar rust issues
Wed, 28 Dec 2011'Tis the season... for road salt. And with that, comes rust. And what does rust bring? Well, for Ford and General Motors, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation. According to The Detroit News, NHTSA is looking into potential recalls issues with Chevrolet Express vans and Ford Freestar minivans.
The feds have received five complaints that rust has caused leaking fuel filler pipes on 2003 Express vans. Separately, seven complaints have been filed over excessive rust in the rear wheel wells of 2004 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. The Freestar and Monterey went out of production in 2007. Neither issue has resulted in any crashes or injuries, according to the report.
Petrolicious shows Mercedes 280SL as architecture in motion
Wed, Jun 17 2015While still an absolute beauty today, the design of the pagoda-roof W113 Mercedes-Benz SL was revolutionary when it debuted. Moving away from the soft curves of the previous SL models, the all-new generation brought an upright, angular shape that was as much architectural as automotive. In the latest video from Petrolicious, owner and architect Daniel Monti expounds on the inspiration that he gets from his 1969 280SL's fantastic styling. The roof is the most famous design feature of this generation of SL. Look at the top from the front or back, and you can see a gentle, downward arc that evokes the look of a pagoda. That one styling element is also a fabulous counterpoint to a vehicle that is largely more angular than curvaceous. Petrolicious wonderfully illustrates how some of the SL's form-follows-function design aesthetic can be found in the architect's work in this video's heaping helping of mid-century modern goodness.
