Mercedes Benz Slk 320 Renntech on 2040-cars
United States

You are viewing a beautiful 2001 Mercedes Benz SLK 320. This car has been in our family since purchased new in 2000. This is a one owner car! It is extremely rare as it was one of only two spec'd in this manner on the East coast when purchased new. The color combination, sport pkg and 6 speed manual combination is what makes it so unique. Over $ 5,000 in upgrades have been added to this car, including:
Renntech Carbon Fiber Air Intake Renntech ECU tune Renntech Catback Exhaust Upgraded 18 inch Brabus Style Monoblock Wheels Brembo Rotors Red Brake Caliper Paint Professionally Applied The car puts out about 240 hp and 250 tq. It is still quick by today's standards and sounds incredible. Factory Options: AMG Sport Package 6 Disc Cd Changer Condition: The car is mechanically fantastic. The engine pulls hard and runs perfect, the clutch still feels the same as it did new, and the brakes are very strong. The exterior paint is smooth and in excellent condition with your typical small stone chips that are barely noticeable. The interior has normal wear and tear for a car of this age, but it still looks stunning in the two-tone charcoal/crimson combination. The AC, heat, radio and CD changer all work perfectly. I believe in being an honest seller, so I will summarize what the car needs. The convertible roof currently does not work. Luckily, these tops are not as expensive to repair as the old SL500s . A reputable local shop diagnosed that the car needs a new electrical pump/actuator and estimated the cost at about $1,500. Second, the car will show a check engine light about once a month for a day or so. It has been diagnosed as a mass airflow sensor. Cost to replace is about $400. For example, I have been driving the car for the past month, and the check engine light came on only once and then turned off again on the same day. There is no check engine light on as of now. Third, there is a small crack in the front drivers side wheel. It is completely cosmetic and has been there for over 30k miles with no problems to driveability. The car was involved in two very MINOR fender benders (not my fault, and needless to say I was not pleased) about 10 and 13 years ago, respectively. But as you can see from the photos, it was expertly repaired by the best body shop in town and it looks like new and drives perfectly. Again, the car had ZERO driveability issues following the repairs and has required nothing but regular servicing since. Please feel free to contact me to discuss. I envision the next owner of this car as someone who knows they're getting a very rare and special SLK, but also understands that it will take a small investment to repair the items that I have mentioned above. The next owner will also get the original 17 inch AMG wheels ( they have some curb rash, but I would be willing to pay to repair them if I receive an offer close to Buy It Now), the original exhaust and air box. Basically, the car can be returned to stock if desired. I have owned this car for 14 years and maintained it meticulously both cosmetically and with regard to regular servicing. It saddens me to sell it because it has been such a pleasure to own, but it deserves a loving new home for Christmas! Thanks for looking and please do not hesitate to contact me with questions or to discuss an offer. Since I am also advertising the car locally, please be aware that I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. |

Mercedes reveals F 015 Luxury in Motion concept at CES [w/videos]
Tue, Jan 6 2015Whatever you think of the idea, autonomous vehicles are emerging as the way of the future in the automotive industry, and Mercedes is showing its vision for that driverless destiny with the F 015 concept at CES this week. Billed as Luxury in Motion, the F 015 first popped onto our radar back in October when it was snapped under wraps and then again when the German automaker released the first teaser image previewing its silhouette, but has now taken center stage at the electronics expo in Las Vegas. So what is it exactly, you ask? Well, aside from being entirely autonomous – bringing together a suite of advanced technologies to take the driver out of the equation – it's also big. It's marginally larger than an S-Class, in fact, and with a more spacious one-box form that turns the cabin into a rolling living room. That's where you'll find four individual bucket seats that swivel towards each other, and pivot towards the giant doors for ease of ingress and egress. The doors open a full 90 degrees and the back ones swing suicide-style like on a Rolls-Royce, but without a B-pillar to get in the way. An array of six display screens turn the cabin – clad in wood, aluminum, glass and leather – into an all-enveloping "digital arena," with gesture-based controls, touch-sensitive screens and eye-tracking technology. Made of carbon fiber, aluminum and high-strength steel, the concept is some 40-percent lighter than a conventional automobile of its size. And while Mercedes isn't saying exactly what would provide the motivation (and to what effect), it does state that "the bodyshell of the F 015 Luxury in Motion was designed to allow the impact-protected integration of an electric drive system with fuel cell." The concept follows the debut of the Future Truck 2025 concept big-rig at the IAA Commercial Vehicles show in Hannover a few months ago, and is earmarked to make transportation through and between the world's growing cities a smoother, safer and less human-intensive ordeal. Whether that's the kind of future you want to live in is another matter, but you can scope it out in the videos and press release below and in the extensive gallery of images above for a closer look. New Mercedes-Benz pickup to be called GLT?
Fri, Apr 17 2015The Mercedes-Benz pickup will allegedly be called the GLT, and it won't be "a fat cowboy truck." That's according to the head of MB's truck project, former AMG boss Volker Mornhinweg, quoted by Car. We already knew that Mercedes would be teaming up with Renault-Nissan for its double-cab pickup, but until Car sat down with Mornhinweg, we were unsure of how the vehicle would be targeted. Aside from being neither fat nor cowboy like, the exec shed some light on the German brand's mindset behind the new truck. "We are not going to develop a fat cowboy truck for North America. After all, the big three – Ford, GM/GMC and Ram – already own about 90 percent of that market which typically absorbs in excess of two million units per year," Mornhinweg told Car. "In this cutthroat environment, newcomers like us would invariably fight an arduous uphill battle. That's why our focus is on a smaller and lighter pick-up truck which is already perceived as premium product in South America, Africa and the Middle East." While Mornhinweg wasn't the one to let slip on the new Mercedes truck's name, Car reports that it will wear the GLT badge. There's no mention of where the publication came up with that title, though, aside from "rumors." We've reached out to Mercedes-Benz for comment on the truck's name, and should they get back to us, we'll be sure to update this post. The Mercedes G-Class gets the full Maybach treatment before the curtain finally closes
Mon, Feb 6 2017Like the hotdog and soda combo at Costco or the official website for the 1996 movie Space Jam, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class has soldiered on nearly unaltered since its birth. Sure, there have been variants like the wonderfully over-the-top G63 6x6, but the G-Wagen is essentially the same squared-off SUV with rifle-bolt locks and doors with enough mass to support a minor gravity field. Spy shots show a replacement is finally on the horizon, but based on the leaked YouTube video above and Instagram post below, it looks like the current model is going to get the full Mercedes-Maybach Landaulet treatment before the curtain finally closes. While there has been no official word from the automaker, all signs point to a genuine Mercedes-Maybach product. The vehicle is badged as a G650, which falls in line with other current V12-powered Mercedes-Maybach products. The Maybach name and badge are found in all the expected places. The license closely matches other Mercedes German-manufacturer plates. The carbon fiber fender flares and portal axles look like they were taken from the G550 4x42. The latter means, despite the increased wheelbase, this new model should still be a formidable off-road machine. This content is hosted by a third party. That means high-quality leather surfaces throughout and an increased focus on rear seat comfort and convenience. If this is indeed a G650, it's packing a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V12 under the hood that churns out 630 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque. The partial convertible top is what gives this the Landaulet moniker. According to the text on this Instagram post, there will only be 99 examples produced. Look for a full reveal in the next few months. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
