THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION FOR A VERY CLEAN W126 MERCEDES BENZ 560 SEL WHICH HAS ALL EXTENSIVE BOOKS AND RECORDS AND SERVICE HISTORY. IT WAS PURCHASED TWO YEARS AGO FROM A CLASSIC AND EXOTIC CAR DEALER IN GREENWICH CT. THIS CAR WAS A ONE OWNER CAR BEFORE BEING BOUGHT AND RESOLD BY THE DEALER. FROM WHAT I CAN GATHER FROM RECORDS AS WELL AS THE DEALER, THE CAR WAS OWNED BY A NYC DOCTOR AND WAS DRIVEN MOSTLY IN THE HAMPTONS. I AM SELLING THIS CAR FOR MY FRIEND WHO I SHARE A PASSION FOR CARS AND HAVE OWNED MANY GERMAN CARS BOTH AS PARTNERS AS WELL AS INDIVIDUALLY. WE JUST LOVE THESE CARS OF OUR YOUTH... NOW IT IS TIME TO SELL AND FOCUS ON SOMETHING NEW TO DRIVE (500E). I HAVE DRIVEN THIS CAR EXTENSIVELY AND CAN ATTEST TO ITS CONDITION, RELIABILITY AND GENUINE ENJOYABILITY. I FEEL LIKE A KING DRIVING THIS CAR. IT IS FAST AND SMOOTH, SHIFTS WELL AND HAS A PERFECTLY GERMAN SALOON FEEL TO THE STEERING. THE BRAKES FEEL STRONG AND SOLID WITH A HARD PEDAL. THE SHOCKS ABSORB IMPERFECTIONS WELL BUT STILL HAVE THAT SOLID GERMAN FEELING THUMP. THE ROADABILITY OF THIS CAR IS ASTOUNDING. THE CAR IS LOADED WITH ALL OF THE OPTIONS AND ACCESSORIES THAT WERE AVAILABLE ON THE TOP OF THE LINE 126 SEDANS. THIS IS A TRUE FULL SIZE LUXURY SEDAN AND AUTOBAHN BURNER. RECENTLY A FULL SERVICE WAS COMPLETED AND THE TIMING CHAIN WAS SERVICED. A NEW GERMAN GLASS WINDSHIELD WAS INSTALLED AND NEW TIRES WERE INSTALLED (MICHELIN PRIMACY MV4) AT 85K. THIS CAR WILL NOT DISAPPOINT. THE CAR IS NOT DRIVEN IN THE SALT OR SNOW AND IS HAND WASHED REGULARLY (WEEKLY) BY A PROFESSIONAL DETAILER WHO HAS BEEN CLEANING OUR CARS FOR OVER 20 YEARS. AS ALWAYS, I LIKE TO MENTION THAT THIS IS A USED CAR THAT IS OVER 25 YEARS OLD AND IT IS NOT PERFECT BUT IT IS VERY NICE AND FAR BETTER THEM MOST 126'S I HAVE SEEN. THERE A FEW SMALL DINGS AND SOME PAINT IMPERFECTIONS THAT CAN BAIRLY BE SEEN FROM DING REPAIR YEARS AGO (NO PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL IN THE 80'S) MOST OF WHICH COULD BE WET SANDED AND OR BUFFED OUT. THERE IS A SLIGHT DISCOLORATION ON THE BUMPERS IN THE CHROME WHICH IS VERY SMALL. OVERALL THE PAINT AND CHROME ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND FROM 4 OR 5 FEET AWAY YOU CAN NOT BELIEVE HOW CLOSE TO SHOW ROOM THIS CAR LOOKS. THE INTERIOR IS AS EXCELLENT AS THE EXTERIOR. NO WEARS OR DAMAGE. SMELLS CLEAN. THE LEATHER IS NOT WORN AND THERE ARE NO CRACKS IN THE PLASTIC OR WOOD INTERIOR PIECES. THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW IS SLOW GOING UP BUT HAS NOT BEEN A PROBLEM. THE CAR HAS A SLIGHT PATINA BUT YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER DOCUMENTED BETTER DRIVING CAR. YOU CAN SEE THAT I HAVE 100% FEEDBACK AND HAVE SOLD MANY BIG TICKET CARS AND MOTORCYCLES AND I TRY VERY HARD TO ACCURATELY DESCRIBE WHAT I AM SELLING. PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS AND BID WITH CONFIDENCE.

Mercedes dealers authorized to spend $2,500 on perks for S-Class customers
Mon, 02 Dec 2013If you drop $100,000 on a luxury sedan, it seems only reasonable to receive some preferential treatment at the dealership you purchased from. After all, that price isn't just for the car - you're paying for the brand and all the cachet that entails. For Mercedes-Benz, those benefits have apparently been lacking relative to the German brand's luxury competitors.
That's set to change, though, as Automotive News reports that the German brand is placing a much greater emphasis on keeping its customers happy and loyal with its MB Select program. Starting with the new S-Class and spreading to the CLA-Class (and eventually beyond), dealers are being given money - up to $2,500 in the case of the flagship sedan - just to improve the customer experience.
We agree, improving the "customer experience" is quite a vague term, so it's nice that Mercedes USA's CEO, Steve Cannon, offered up some examples to AN at the LA Auto Show. For example, a customer couldn't fit his sunglasses into the overhead compartment. "So we bought him a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses that fit because of their shape," Cannon said.
Recharge Wrap-up: Honda FCV Concept comes to Detroit, Toyota seeks young green energy fellows
Thu, Dec 18 2014Honda will bring its FCV Concept to the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. The hydrogen-powered concept made its Japanese debut in November, and will now make its way to North America for the first time. The FCV concept improves upon the design of the FCX Clarity with a more striking appearance and roomier interior. Its smaller powertrain packaging means more space for people, and the FCV Concept seats five passengers. Honda also expects the next-generation fuel-cell car, which is scheduled to go on sale in Japan in March 2016, to cost less and have a range of over 300 miles. Read more in the press release below. The Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive has been awarded an environmental certificate from the TUV Sud technical inspection authority. The certificate is based not just on the vehicle's operation, but the entire lifecycle of the car, including production and recycling. The B-Class Electric Drive produces 24 percent less CO2 over its lifecycle than the Mercedes-Benz B180 when using the EU electricity mix, and 64 percent less when powered by hydroelectricity. Mercedes credits not just the use of electricity, but also the car's energy management system - such as its radar-based regenerative braking - for its carbon reductions. Read more in the press release below. Scania will test a wirelessly charged plug-in hybrid bus in Sweden. Beginning in June 2016, the bus will be put to daily use in Sodertalje. One of its stops will have a wireless charging station where the bus will recharge for six to seven minutes before continuing on its route again. The charger is located under the road surface and the bus positions itself above it to charge inductively. About $1.3 million will come from the Swedish Energy Agency to fund the test project, which could save up to 90 percent of fuel costs. If expanded to a fleet of 2,000 buses, it could save up to 13 million gallons of fuel each year. Read more at Green Car Congress, and in the press release below. Sandia National Laboratories and Linde are teaming up to expand hydrogen fueling infrastructure. The two groups have signed an agreement to research and develop new hydrogen stations, as well as ways to make fuel cell vehicles more desirable for consumers. They are looking at ways to incorporate hydrogen into existing fuel stations where possible, and make sure that it is able to be done safely.
The hottest modern sports cars rendered as rally racers
Thu, Jan 14 2016The modern-day World Rally Championship a monumental amount of fun to watch – I should know, as I recently was lucky enough to head to the UK to watch WRC Wales Rally GB – but even the most monstrous of the current WRC cars are based on fairly pedestrian European hatchbacks. Back in the heyday of rally, the Group B era in the 1980s, much hotter cars were the basis of even more incredible competition machines, for the most part. Take the exotic Ford RS200, or the Lancia Delta S4 with its twin-charged engine. And the hatchback-based Group B cars were bonkers, too. So what would some of our favorite modern cars look like if Group B had never ended? A British site named CarWow hired an artist to reimagine everything from the Rolls-Royce Wraith to the Porsche 911 as a retro-inspired rally car, and they were kind enough to let us share the results in the gallery above. The gallery features an Alfa Romeo Giulia in Martini livery, an Audi TT in classic Ur-Quattro colors, a Fiat 500 Abarth sporting massive flares and a hood blister full of auxiliary lights, a new Ford Mustang in RS200 livery, a Lancia Delta in Alitalia colors, a Porsche 911 in Rothmans livery, a Renault-Alpine in classic blue, a Rolls-Royce Wraith tribute to the Jules cologne Corniche Coupe, and a relatively modern-looking VW Touran. So far, the favorite around the office is the incredible Mercedes-Benz S-Class that is an homage to the wonderful 300 SEL 6.8 AMG "Red Pig" that essentially put AMG on the map. Check out the gallery above and see which one you like the best. Related Video:
