SORRY ABOUT HOW THE SEQUENCE OF THE PICTURES CAME OUT. I TRIED TO SWITCH THEM AROUND BUT IT DID NOT WORK. JUST LOOK AT ALL OF THEM IN THE SEQUENCE THAT EBAY PUT THEM ON.    I purchased this car from my best friend who is a master mechanic and has been for over 30 years. It was brought in by a lady that I understood had purchased it new. At that time it needed some mechanical work done on it and the estimate was more than what she wanted to put into a car of this age. Since it was in such fabulous condition body wise , he made her an offer to buy it outright and they agreed on a price. He then repaired the mechanical problems and kept it in his name for about three years. After that time , he decided he wanted to make more room for items that he collects and decided to sell the car to me to make room for his "STUFF". I had been admiring the car and he offered to sell it to me. I did not hesitate to buy it from him. The reason I have decided to sell it so soon after buying it, is that I am 81 years old and have not been feeling too great the last couple of months. Since I really dont have a reason for owning two cars and paying additional insurance, I have decided to let some one else enjoy this very well taken care of ride.

The odometer shows 90,504 miles , and about two weeks ago, it stopped registering. I do not know why.  I only drove it less than 100 miles after this happened. There is always a possibility that someone may have messed with the odometer , but in the case of this beauty, I seriously doubt it. The car is just too nice to have to had that done to it. However, I am just mentioning this just so there are no repurcussions on this subject after the sale. The car rides like new without a rattle anywhere. It corners better than any of the previous 62 automobiles I have owned in my 81 years. It is very quiet inside and when closing the doors, it is so airtight that you have to use a bit of extra effort in oder to close them. All the electrical gadgets work, the sun roof, the windows , the aerial et al. The gray leather seats are immacualte. There is one place on the side of the drivers seat that has a very small mark on it. Hardly noticable. The white paint is such that I can not find a scratch anywhere. I noticed a couple of places where there may have been a small touchup, but again, no big deal. One of the bumpers has a small mark on it where it may have once been tapped. The padded dash does have a few cracks in it as I have tried to show. Thats the only negative thing I can say about her.

There are Pennsylvania "Classic" license plates on it and I will gladly transfer them to the new owner if they want them and live in Pennsylvania. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have regarding this sweet baby.

Mercedes-Petronas AMG W04 launched to little fanfare, lots of pressure [w/video]

Tue, 05 Feb 2013

No indoor cocktail hour for the launch of the W04, the newest chassis built by the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team. Instead, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton spent a morning in photo and video sessions at the track in Jerez, Spain then paused a moment to introduce the car. The team will want the W04 to demonstrate the World Championship credentials of the team personnel and one of the team drivers, instead of the mostly humble performances we've seen over the past three years.
The W04 has been fitted with a new five-element front wing, pushrod front and pull-rod rear suspension, a second-generation Coanda exhaust and an "aggressively packaged" rear end. A small vanity panel, à la Infiniti Red Bull's RB9, covers the stepped nose.
Team principal Ross Brawn has called it "a clear step forward in design and detail sophistication," but as much as we truly respect Brawn's abilities and achievements, we heard him say similar things about the updated W03 last year before almost every race weekend from about mid-season. We really hope he's right this time, and so does the team's newest driver, Lewis Hamilton. We'll do our best to ignore the parallels of the Mercedes F1 team having signed a sponsorship deal with Blackberry, another company trying to find its way back to the top and still struggling, and just point you to the video below of the W04 in action.

2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600 Review [w/video]

Fri, Dec 11 2015

"Hindsight is 20/20" is a handy yet disingenuous cliche. The flaw is that hindsight is only instructive up to the moment you would have made a different, perhaps better, decision. At the moment of that deviation the past goes in another direction, one that you can't peer back into because you didn't experience it. So when we say we wish Karl Benz's eponymous firm had produced the Mercedes-Maybach S600 in 2002 instead of the gilded blunder of the separate Maybach brand and its 57 and 62 sedans, we just can't know if the formula would have worked 13 years ago. But we do know the formula adds up superbly right now. A little history: Wilhelm Maybach helped Gottlieb Daimler build a high-speed, four-stroke internal combustion engine in 1885. Eventually Maybach went to work for Daimler's new car company and designed the first Mercedes, the 1901 35-hp model considered the world's first modern car. Maybach left the company after Daimler's death, started a company building zeppelins, then joined his son to start the Maybach car company. Together they developed super luxury cars including the DS8 Zeppelin models that competed with Rolls-Royce. A reviewer in 1933 wrote, "The Maybach Zeppelin models rank among the few cars in the international top class. They are highly luxurious, extremely lavish in their engineering and attainable only for a chosen few." It's a whopping 28 inches shorter than the departed Maybach 62, but 8.2 inches longer than a standard S-Class. As is this Maybach S600. It's a whopping 28 inches shorter than the departed Maybach 62, but since it's 8.2 inches longer than a standard S-Class, there's a very different driving experience. Two-thirds of a foot isn't much, but the Maybach is 639 pounds heavier than an S550, or 231 pounds heavier than a standard S600. From the driver's seat we could feel every additional pound and inch over those other models. It is as if Mercedes threw out the aluminum and steel and chiseled this sedan from basalt. We've driven scanty few cars where we've been genuinely glad for blind-spot detection and 360-degree cameras – this is one of them. The Maybach's wheelbase is four inches longer than that of a Bentley Mulsanne, even though the overall car is almost five inches shorter than the Big B. That long wheelbase translates into tranquil steering response – the S550, S600, and Maybach S600 all have the same 2.3 turns-to-lock, but this sedan feels like it takes more effort. It even looks heavy.
