Non Running - Lots Of Parts on 2040-cars
Grove, Oklahoma, United States
I am putting a 1987 RX7 TII up for sale as a project or for parts. The car has a lot invested in it, but is no longer something I am interested in. I can get car to start by putting a little fuel into the chamber and the tuning shop had it running off starting fluid - has spark and compression but no fuel. Oil has been
Non-original motor, rebuilt over a year ago, compression seems and has been stated to me as ok. New Parts: Walbro 255 fuel pump, Haltech Sprint RE programmable ECU, Clutch, Clutch Master and Slave cylinders, Resurfaced flywheel, Aeromotive 13129 Fuel pressure regulator and gauge, Motor mounts, Starter, Radiator, Remanufactured 550cc Fuel injectors. New Parts Internal: Apex, Side, and Corner Seals from Atkins. Soft seals and O-rings. Engine is complete, alternator only accessory hooked up, AC in box, smog pump gone, car does not have power steering (from factory I believe). Extra Parts: Spare 5 speed Turbo transmission - unknown condition New passenger area carpet in box - black NXS turbo timer Spare stock Turbo - needs rebuilt AC compressor - unhooked - unknown condition Car had a suspension kit on it from Suspension Techniques when I bought it. It was behind some guys house where it had sat for at least 3 years, the owner pulled the motor and sold it for scrap. Replacement motor bought out of a parts car, checked vin was a 87 or 88 turbo 2. Rebuilt using parts ordered through Atkins including new 2mm Apex seals. Car was previously in Arizona, now Oklahoma, no rust issues. Body fairly strait with peeling paint and a few dents (passenger headlight cover). Car has been professionally fitted with a Haltech sprint RE - has not been tuned. Shop also fabbed block off plates (OMP still attached though). Rats nest still attached because I still have the hard fuel lines hooked up. Lots of people say fuel issues and I choose not to believe them; so a quick list of things I have tried or corrected. Had original low impedance injectors cleaned, wiped out bottom of tank, corrected fuel lines that were hooked up wrong, replaced fuel pressure regulator (fpr), replaced stock FPR replacement with Areomotive and made sure to get gauge, checked grounds, leads, fuses, and resistance on fuel injectors, bought high impedance fuel injectors. Rechecked that injectors enabled in haltech. Good pressure in the fuel rails and seems like injectors are getting ground signal that the haltech does. Known faults: No Fuel Cracked front windshield Driver seat poor to fair, passenger seat bad Car has dents and the clear is peeling (exterior is rough looking with the clear coming off and was so far down the to do list to worry about, I make no promises about it except that I have been under it and around it plenty and haven't seen rust - flaking or holes) Harness for gauge cluster needs rewiring (in passenger compartment even with gauges on the firewall) guage cluster bezel broken plastic pieces surrounding steering column missing No carpet for hatch compartment Tires hold air but are too small Master cylinder for brakes needs replacing and brakes bled - E-brake only one working at the moment Included odometer is a replacement and does not reflect actual miles which are unknown Has some wires that need cleaning up, the hoses for the intercooler need replaced, and a small list of other things that I was saving till after I got it running. I would be better off parting it out, but space and time are better reserved for other things right now. I have tried to put 100% about the car on here but easier thought than done. I will be happy to answer any questions about the car, but if I need to be with the car it will have to wait till the weekend. Oklahoma Title clear and in my name. Car is black tagged through next month - June 2014. The first three pictures are from this month, the others are 6 months or older. Car is As-is, and all misc parts related to the car will go with it. |

WAVE 2015: Metron 7 sets new record of 513 miles on one charge
Tue, Jun 16 2015Sometimes you just gotta push harder, faster, longer. Last fall, the Metron Institute team from Slovenia took their converted all-electric Mazda5 minivan on an impressive 457-mile journey from Bled (in Sloveniva) to Dubrovnik (in Croatia) without stopping to recharge at an average speed of 40 miles an hour. Today, as part of the WAVE Trophy 2015, the Metron 7 EV just finished up a drive of 826.1 kilometers (513.3 miles) on a single charge. The drive started in Berlin and ended in Karlsruhe, Germany. As you might suspect, a drive of this length on normal roads required a big battery pack. The total pack capacity was 108 kWh, thanks to the combination of the built-in 86-kWh pack that uses lithium polymer cells from Kokam and a 130-pound, 22-kWh external pack that Metron has developed that can charge the built-in pack while driving. The average speed of the 500-mile journey was 45 miles per hour (72 kilometers per hour) through rural countryside, towns, and some time on the highway. The drivers –Andrej and Jasna Pecjak – did not use air conditioning, but the fans were running. The weather was temperate enough that AC wasn't needed anyway these last two days. The Metron 7 was a part of the last two WAVE events and has been updated since the last record was set in October 2014. On the new record journey, the minivan was loaded up with gear, but the Metron engineers made improvements to the car in the last eight months: the side mirrors are smaller and they fitted a better aerodynamic cover underneath the vehicle, for example. Andrej said that the cost for the batteries was around $50,000, since some of the cells he got were used. Today's record is unofficial, but AutoblogGreen witnessed both the sealing of the charge port in Berlin and was in the car for the last 125 kilometers today. 2014 Mazda6 to start at $20,880*
Wed, 19 Dec 2012We got our very first taste of the impressive 2014 Mazda6 back in October, and had more than a few good things to say about the midsizer. One piece of information that was conspicuous by its absence, however, was a sticker price.
Now, with zero pomp and circumstance (not even a press release as of this writing), Mazda has dropped what looks to be official pricing for the 6 on its consumer website.
$20,880 is the asking price for the base Mazda6 Sport with a manual transmission (plus $795 worth of destination charges, for a total of $21,675). Alaska residents will need to cough up $840 for destination. The loaded-up Mazda6 Grand Touring shown on the site will set you back a total of $30,290 (MSRP of $29,495), but it isn't clear if that's the starting price of the Grand Touring trim. Mazda is taking orders for the new 6 right now, and the cars will be available on January 2, 2013.
Cars most likely to be involved in accidents
Tue, Nov 30 2021Data from Insurify shows which models have the most accident-prone drivers behind the wheel. It also shows the proportion of the drivers of said vehicles with an at-fault accident on record in the past seven years, based on Insurify’s analysis of over 4 million car insurance applications. For reference, the national average is 10.78%, and each of these vehiclesÂ’ drivers represent a statistically significant increase over that. Now, it would be easy to infer that these cars are dangerous, but such is not necessarily the case. Remember, drivers cause accidents, not cars. These just happen to be the cars that accident-prone drivers drive. YouÂ’ll notice that many are mainstream, affordable cars, often with decent crash ratings. Also keep in mind that vehicle accidents are up since the beginning of the pandemic, so no matter what you drive, please drive safely. 10. Hyundai Ioniq This affordable, electrified vehicle platform sneaks into this list with 14.45% of drivers with a recent at-fault accident on record. 9. Lexus CT Another hybrid, this Prius-powered Lexus beats the national average at 14.57%. 8. Toyota Prius V Yet another hybrid, the larger but discontinued member of the Prius family sees 14.72% of its drivers with recent accidents. 7. Mazda CX-3 The Mazda CX-3, which is discontinued for the 2022 model year, sees the accident-prone making up 14.9% of its drivers. 6. Infiniti Q60 The second and final luxury car on this list has more accident-prone drivers than average, at 14.93%. 5. Subaru Impreza The first of two Subarus on this list has 15.1% of drivers with recent accidents on record. 4. Hyundai Genesis Coupe The Genesis Coupe was only on the market for a brief span before it was discontinued and Genesis spun off into its own luxury brand. That said, it too beats the national average for accidents, at 15.29%. 3. Subaru WRX Despite its standard all-wheel drive, the boy-racer WRX has 15.44% of drivers with a prior accident in the last seven years. 2. Kia Stinger We love the Kia Stinger, and had great luck with our long-termer that graced the Autoblog garage for a year. That said, 15.75% of its drivers represent have a recent accident on record. 1. Scion FR-S This fun two-seater attracts the most accident prone drivers, with 15.87% with recent at-fault crashes.
