2009 - Lotus Exige on 2040-cars
Carson, California, United States
Burnt Orange Exige S 260 Sport. I am the third owner of the car and have pampered her. I bought her from a guy in San Diego who drover her to work and back. He bought it from an older guy in Houston, Texas. The paint is immaculate aside from a few small paint chips. No paintwork has been done other than the addition of a special UV clear coat applied to protect the carbon fiber. The title is clean with no accidents. The mileage on the car is 39,XXX, but the indicated is 24,XXX due to the instrument cluster having been replaced for failed gauges. There is a sticker on the door sill that states the mileage when the instrument cluster was changed. Mechanically in excellent shape and drives like new with all oil/fluids serviced regularly. The upgraded engine mounts add even more responsiveness and the LETSLA shift linkage increase shifter feel and precision greatly over stock. I lost the front two center caps at a recent track day and haven’t had the chance to pick up new ones. I removed the side vinyl “swoosh” because I don’t care for the look, but these can be easily reapplied if you want. Also, my camera has a few smudges on the lens so don’t worry there aren’t large sports all over the car!! Service: -Clutch delay valve removed -Instrument cluster replaced by PO at 14,682 miles due to gauge failure -Windshield replaced due to rock chip ~5,000 miles ago -MP62 supercharger replaced with new ~ 3,000 miles ago -Toyo R888 Tires -ATE racing brake fluid Upgrades: Sector 111 Shift Cables intercooler fans Intercooler heat shield Oil catch cans Toe link DSBrace kit -LETSLA Shift linkage Innovative Engine Mounts set of four Larini Club Sport Exhaust Lightweight rear diffuser Carbotech XP10/12 brake pads Special UV clear coat applied to protect carbon fiber Lotus Exige S car cover

Lotus Elise returning to US in 2020
Mon, Aug 3 2015If you've been hoping to get your hands on a new Lotus Elise, we've got mixed news for you. The good news is that Lotus will bring the Elise back to the US market. The bad news is that it won't happen before 2020. Lotus was forced to withdraw the model (along with the Exige) from the US market in 2011 after it no longer complied with US safety regulations and its temporary exemptions expired. Lotus first launched the Elise in 1996 when the company was still owned by former Bugatti chief Romano Artioli. It rolled out the current Series 2 model in 2001, and brought it to America for the first time in 2004. The larger Evora faced similar issues, and was modified in the form of the new Evora 400 that now meets US regulations. Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales tells Automotive News that doing the same with the Elise would be unfeasible. "We'd need smart airbags, plus side airbags and to change the whole front crash structure. It would add 100kg," or 220 pounds, said Gales. While modifying the current Elise would be prohibitive, the next version is being designed to meet American standards. That won't happen before 2020. In the meantime, Lotus continues to sell a small number of certain variants of the Elise and Exige for use exclusively on tracks. Renault formalizes return to F1 with Lotus acquisition
Fri, Dec 4 2015No longer satisfied with simply providing engines, Renault confirmed that it will return to running its own Formula One team next season. Though the terms of the deal are still being worked out, the French automaker will re-acquire the team currently known as Lotus. Renault previously owned and operated this same operation for nearly 10 years. Renault first entered the series in 1977. The company shut down the original Equipe Renault Elf in 1985, but continued powering Lotus, Ligier, and Tyrrell for another season. After a three-year break, it returned as an engine supplier with Williams in 1989, winning championship titles with the likes of Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, and Damon Hill behind the wheel. The 1995 season saw the start of the partnership with the team now in question when Benetton switched over from Ford power. After several years of success and more titles, Renault bought out the team and ran it as its own from 2002 through 2011 winning two more titles with Fernando Alonso before selling the operation to Genii Capital, which has run it since under the Lotus name. Even after Lotus switched to Mercedes power, Renault continued supplying other teams with engines, most notably winning back-to-back world titles with Red Bull before the new turbo hybrid engines arrived and Renault's performance dropped off. Now, in another case of history repeating, Renault is gearing up to bring the team based in Enstone back in-house. The move will likely see the Lotus name disappear again, after it was hotly contested with the Caterham team that ultimately disappeared as well. With it, Renault will return as a full-on works effort with its own engines, just like rivals Ferrari and Mercedes. Renault Announces Return to Formula 1 in 2016 - Carlos Ghosn announces his decision that Renault will return to Formula 1 with its own team for 2016 season. - Renault, 12-time Constructors' Champion with nearly 40 years in the sport, is an iconic brand in Formula 1 and intends to play an active role in the sport's development. - F1 is a technology showcase and accelerates development of Renault's innovation and range of sports cars. Following the September announcement of the signing of a Letter of Intent with Lotus F1 Team, teams at Renault continued to evaluate the possibility of a return to Formula 1. Particular attention was paid to competing successfully with its own team in a financially sound way starting in 2016.
2024 Lotus Eletre First Drive Review: And now for something completely different ...
Mon, Jul 10 2023OSLO, Norway It doesnt get much more future-forward than the 2024 Lotus Eletre, a ginormous leap into electrification that looks, feels and drives like nothing before it. The Eletres all-new everything pushes into uncharted territory for Lotus: this is the brands first EV and SUV, entering a crowded market that is critical to the future of the 75-year-old British nameplate. No pressure Lotus, were here for it. First off, the design. As frivolous as it seems to address the subjectivity of looks, appearance matters with six-figure statement pieces. Despite the Eletres underpinnings being developed in Sweden and Germany, and the fact that it's built in China by majority stakeholder Geely, the design hails from the spot where the brands late, great founder Colin Chapman first set up shop: Hethel, England. The design is triggering for many, from the split front grille and bifurcated headlamps to the height of the midsection and the sweep of the tail. Now that the SUV field is utterly oversaturated, the Eletres looks are easily relatable to other more familiar vehicles. In person, theres far more to the Eletre than the internet comments of Hey, that just looks like (blank) would suggest. Yes, certain bits feel derivative, particularly the nebulous headlamp zone. But theres also inventiveness in the details, like the vented hood and creased door surfaces that summon a familiar design language as the Emira. Also distinctive is the wagon-like rear overhang and concave tail thats accentuated with a long, uninterrupted LED lightstrip, a la Bugatti Chiron. Spec plays a big part in this large crossovers looks. The launch color, Kaimu Grey, makes it come across as rather plain and unremarkable, while Galloway Green and the Solar Yellow pictured here taps into the brand heritage in a good way. Outfitted in splashier hues, Eletre stands out as an SUV that looks nimbler and more lithe than its dimensions suggest. At 16.7 feet in length and 7 feet wide (measured with the conventional mirrors well get in the States), Eletre is no skinny Minnie. Its 6.8 inches longer than a Cayenne, 5.1 inches lengthier than a Purosangue and 2.5 inches greater than a DBX. Its 0.4 inch shorter than an Urus, but is 2 inches wider. Inside, the feeling is spacious, with decent leg, shoulder and head room.
