Up for sale is quite possibly the lowest cost Lotus Exige you have seen or will find on Ebay! It's been my baby for the last two years but...much as I hate to, I've got to raise some serious cash before March so this (and some other toys) must be liquidated. Because this MUST sell I'm pricing it well below market value. That means it should sell by the end of the auction so...please, do not bid unless your dead serious about buying it!!!! It was exactly what I wanted and may be for you as well. Non-supercharged for total reliability and easy maintenence. Rebuilt title (saves a ton of money off the purchase price) with very light, non structural damage. (just superfical body damage. No chassis, suspension or engine/drivetrain damage.) Fresh oil change (these run $380 dollars because bottom of engine cover must be removed). Really fresh tires (see tread photos). Brand new floor mats. Blaupunkt stereo speaker system with amp. Back up camera incorporated into the stereo (see camera above logo on back photo). I will say, in my opinion a back up camera is essential for this car. There is no rear window (like a lambo) so the back up camera is a great addition. It also has racing harnesses installed as well as a fairly new battery. Car cover included. The bad: This is a 7 year old car. It's in great shape but it does have normal wear and tear. The biggest being the chip in the front split spoiler (see photo of front view) A couple small scratches etc. Most don't show up in the photos but I always try to over deliver and underpromise so your thrilled when you get it. Everything on the car works. I've had it maintained and babied it. I feel so good about this car that I will warranty your purchase. If you find any glaring omissions or errors in this description I will take the car back and refund your purchase price within the first week of ownership. 51,000 miles approx. Watch the Lotus Esprit evolve from 1976 to 2004
Tue, 21 Jan 2014Seeing a model as long-lived as the Lotus Esprit evolve over time generally requires some clever photography or graphical work, kind of like this. This video doesn't require any of that trickery, though, because it features every single model year of Espirt in one glorious row of awesome British cars.
Taken at the 2013 Lotus Festival at Brands Hatch in the UK, it features Esprits from 1976 all the way to its last model year in 2004. It really puts into perspective the slow evolution of the mid-engined, wedge-shaped Lotus, as it went from a very 1970s design to something decidedly more modern.
We've got the full video below, which starts with a red 1976 model, travels down the line to a silver 2004 Esprit, and then all the way back to the original. Take a look, and let us know what you think.
Lotus Exige S tears the roof off
Tue, 14 Jan 2014Some things just don't make sense. But then we're not sure they really have to. Imagine Porsche took the Cayman, which is essentially the coupe version of the Boxster, and turned it into a convertible. Wouldn't make much sense, would it? Well that's essentially what Lotus did with the creation of the Exige S Roadster.
The Exige, you see, was already the fixed-roof version of the Elise. So what was the point in turning it back into a roadster? That's what our friends at XCar tried to ascertain in the video below. We could tell you what conclusion they arrived at, but that would spoil all the fun. So we'll just let you enjoy the seven-minute clip and see for yourself. Just remember: it doesn't have to make sense. It just has to be a Lotus.
Lotus announces race-ready Exige V6 Cup and Cup R
Fri, 11 Jan 2013Lotus has pulled off the wraps on two new versions of the Exige: the V6 Cup and the V6 Cup R. Based on the Exige S, the V6 Cup is built to be a dual-purpose street and track machine. The 0-60 dash should take just under 3.8 seconds thanks to a full 345 horsepower from a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 engine. Weighing in at 2,380 pounds, the V6 Cup should be an absolute riot to drive, and with a full FIA-approved roll cage, fire extinguisher and six-point race harnesses on board, it's plenty safe, too. Two-way adjustable dampers are standard, as are AP Racing four-piston calipers on all four corners. More importantly, drivers can expect to find the Lotus Dynamic Performance Management system in the cockpit, complete with Touring, Sport and DPM Off modes.
The V6 Cup R, meanwhile, is both lighter and offers more horsepower than the standard V6 Cup. The same blown V6 dishes out 366 horsepower in R trim, and the whole contraption tips the scales at 2,292 pounds. Of course, the same spate of race hardware is stock, minus the DPM system. A lightweight battery, track-spec tow loops and quick-release engine cover help separate the Cup R from its more civil sibling, as do performance brake pads and better oil and water cooling systems.
