1962 Lincoln Continental 429 Engine Swap on 2040-cars
Austin, Texas, United States
|
This is a custom car with a 429ci (same block as a 460) motor and
transmission out of a 1969 Thunderbird. I have lost interest and need
the space for other projects. The body is very clean with minimal rust
on the rear fender. Floors and truck pans are original and solid, it is
an original west Texas car. The original power drum brakes have been
completely rebuilt. All front bushings, ball joints and steering
linkage components have been replaced. Interior has been redone and is
super clean. The engine has been rebuilt, about 300 miles, and have
receipts of lots of good and forged parts.
Choppy Comp cam and Flowmaster exhaust, doesn't sound like your typical Lincoln. H-beam rods, studded heads and main caps with windage tray, ported c8ve heads with hardened valve seats, roller rockers, edelbrock air gap intake, quick fuel 750 cfm double pumper carb, forged pistons, 11:1 compression, custom made headers, msd distributor and 6al box, C6 automatic transmission with 2000 rpm stall and a custom aluminum drive-shaft. The car is a project that isn't complete. The c6 transmission leaks out of the front pump seal and the car needs a better cooling system, it runs warm when it is hot outside. The hood will have to be modified to fit over the engine, but I have two of them. The passenger rear window doesn't work, the power seat works but doesn't move the seat, there is no speedo cable and the windshield is cracked. Other minor things need to be connected or done that I cannot remember at this time. This is a super cool car that turns heads every time I drive it. Rides smooth and is fairly quick for a 5000 lbs. car. Please call with any questions five one two 669 zero 8 zero 6. I have the title in my name. 2025 Lincoln Navigator revealed with dramatic look, massive screen in Monterey
Fri, Aug 16 2024Say a big hello to the 2025 Lincoln Navigator, now more grand-looking and chock full of tech than ever before. This marks the fifth generation of Lincoln’s three-row luxury SUV, and while its bones are largely carryover, its appearance and interior experience are totally fresh. As for those hard points, the Navigator is still rolling with a body-on-frame construction, independent rear suspension and the 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 paired with the 10-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive standard. Said engine produces 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, the same output as the 2024 model. Both the standard length and the L model return, with the latter pictured in white just below. While this Navigator may end up driving much the same as the current one, it sure does look largely new from the outside. A fresh grille design gives it a mighty loud and proud aesthetic from the front and is complemented by a big light bar for even more visual presence. Like other new Lincolns, this one features the “Lincoln Embrace” for approach that plays an animation via the lights to welcome your return to the car. The full-width taillights do the same with new light-up “3D” badging. Chrome is thrown out the window in favor of satin aluminum trim accents (a Jet Black Appearance package will apply glossy black trim instead), and just like the refreshed Escalade, 24-inch wheels are newly added to the party – 22-inch wheels are the new standard. One particularly new big-deal feature youÂ’ll notice on the exterior is the “Lincoln Split Gate” that is essentially a split tailgate the likes of which you find on BMWs and Range Rovers. Similar to others, the tailgate is split so three-quarters of the gate opens up, while the remainder folds down. It allows for easier loading and unloading, but can also be used as a seat (600-pound capacity) when parked. Lincoln even offers a “Cargo Tailgate Manager” option that can function as a seatback for the tailgate, a table for tailgating events or to split the cargo area into a multi-level storage shape. Things really start to look totally new when you hop into the front seats and take in the new 48-inch panoramic display that spans the whole width of the dash. YouÂ’ll recognize the Lincoln Digital Experience setup from the 2024 Nautilus where it debuted, and it operates in a similar manner here.
Lincoln Navigator facelift only has to last until 2016 replacement
Thu, 21 Aug 2014The Navigator is not only Lincoln's longest-serving nameplate - dating back to 1998 when the final Town Car was introduced - but it's also the oldest model still in the brand's portfolio. The current Navigator arrived on the market in 2007, and underwent a refresh just a few months ago for the 2015 model year. The updates were subtle, but if you're waiting for an all-new model, it's just a couple of years down the road.
According to Automotive News, Lincoln is already working on an all-new replacement for the current, long-serving Navigator, which will be revealed two years from now in the middle of 2016 as a 2017 model. At that point, we're expecting it could switch (alongside the Expedition) to the new aluminum architecture introduced on the Ford F-150, seeing as how the current model is based on the old F-150.
In the meantime, the refreshed Navigator ditches the big 5.4-liter Triton V8 in favor of a more economical 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, and wages war in two wheelbase lengths against the V8-powered competition in the form of the Cadillac Escalade (and Escalade ESV), the Land Cruiser-based Lexus LX and the Infiniti QX80, which is based on the overseas Nissan Patrol.
Lincoln needs a farewell address, not a new marketing plan
Tue, 09 Apr 2013
The trouble with Ford's Lincoln brand is that no one cares about it any more.
Not long after I heard that Mark LaNeve, chief operating officer of Ford agency Team Detroit, was moving to take over direct operations of the New York ad agency Hudson Rouge for Lincoln, I heard that JCPenney CEO Ron Johnson was ousted. The two events are connected.
