1977 Lincoln Continental Town Car For Sale is a 1977 Lincoln Continental Town Car with 43,000 original miles. This one owner Continental is a true survivor, it was undercoated when new protecting it from the harsh Chicago winters. The car has been stored indoors and was seldom driven as the maintenance stickers that have stayed with the car prove. The original silver paint is in overall very nice condition, but is not perfect as the pictures show, there are a few nicks in the paint, and there is some fading overall shows very good, but I do not want someone to think the paint is concourse condition. The original vinyl roof was faded and had some tears, so a new silver/grey roof was professionally installed. The roof was prepared properly and was coated with POR-15 prior to new roof installation. The floors are perfect, with no rust and the frame is solid and rust free. The original 460 V8 starts and runs smooth, it has excellent power through entire power band. Fresh engine oil was installed as well as fresh coolant prior to running the car. The original carburetor was professionally rebuilt by a carburetor shop to ensure reliability, fuel lines were flushed and the gas tank was drained. A new brake line was run to the rear of the car as moisture had gotten to the line; new brake fluid was flushed through the entire system. A new starter was installed. The original grey leather seats are very nice, very comfortable, with very clean original carpet. All of the power windows operate from all of the switches, as well as the power locks. The power antenna works properly. The factory am/fm 8 track player works, but I do not have any 8 tracks to test the operation of that. The original clock functions as it should. The vacuum for the headlight doors holds with no issues, all of the headlights operate as they should, as well as the auto lamps and auto dim feature. The power seats operate, but the driver seat is slow to go to the back. The inside lights work as well as all exterior lighting. The steering is tight, and all of the suspension is in good shape. The tires all hold air, and have good tread depth. The wide white wall tires all appear to be in good shape. The original alloy wheels are very nice and all of the center caps are in good shape. This car floats down the road with ease, cruise at 75 mph with power to spare. Driving this car is a dream, like floating on a cloud. There is a clear Illinois title. The car is still considered used, with that being said, there is no warranties or guarantee included and is sold as is. International buyers are welcomed. Shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer, but I can assist in loading and will work with your shipper. Inspections are available and welcomed before bidding. $500 deposit due within 48 hours of auction close. Full payment is due within 7 days. Ford deserves credit for being a front-runner in offering advanced infotainment technology with its Sync and MyFord Touch systems, but continued consumer complaints over its confusing touchscreen interface and capacitive controls has made the automaker relent. The Wall Street Journal reports that physical buttons and knobs for controlling tuning and volume will be coming back to Ford vehicles equipped with the controversial infotainment system.
The 2013 F-150 with MyFord Touch gives us a glimpse of what the new layout with buttons and knobs might look like, as Ford says a similar balance of touch screen capability and buttons/knobs are what's being planned for future models. And, while capacitive controls have no fans in the halls of Autoblog, many of Ford's models with MyFord Touch do have a large physical knob for adjusting volume with integrated buttons for tuning and advancing tracks, though most of those are models with the optional upgraded Sony Audio system. Lincoln models with MyLincoln Touch, however, feature only capacitive controls for all stereo and climate functions.
Despite receiving enough complaints to throw buttons and knobs back into the mix (a move that reminds us of BMW's iDrive trajectory, among others), Ford reports that Sync and MyFord Touch have still been sold on 79 percent of its 2013 model year vehicles, a number it claims is double the rate that Honda and Toyota are getting for their infotainment systems. Ford also states that owners who do opt for the duo of technologies are more satisfied with overall vehicle quality than those who don't have it.

Lincoln certainly made us stand up and take notice when it unveiled the Continental concept at the New York Auto Show this past March. Showcars, however, are only worth so much if they never reach production. But as these latest spy shots indicate, Ford's luxury division is hard at work taking the new Conti from show floor to showroom. The team from Dearborn has clearly gone to great lengths to disguise this prototype, wrapping it in a new type of camouflage with trompe l'oeil bulbous-looking shapes to keep us from seeing just how close the production version will keep to (or how far it may stray from) the concept's design. Our spy photographers did, however, manage to snap some shots of the inside through the side glass, and though it's still evidently some ways off from reaching production, some key details give us an idea of what to expect. Look closely and you can make out the buttons for the transmission running down the side of the infotainment screen, just like on other new Lincolns. The chromework appears to have been toned down some from the blinged-out dashboard of the showcar, but it may be too early to say how much shine there will be to the production model. The overall design of the center console looks pretty darn close to the version we saw in New York, though. The Continental is expected to replace the MKS, as Lincoln moves away from alphabetical nomenclature back towards actual nameplates. Assembly is slated to be undertaken in Flat Rock, MI. There are a great many more details yet to be uncovered, but as far as early indications go, it looks like Lincoln is well on its way to making its concept a reality. Related Video:

The Dodge Dart, Cadillac XTS and Lincoln MKS all failed to earn a "Recommended" rating from Consumer Reports. When it came to the compact Dart, the organization's testers thought the vehicle offered a quiet cabin, solid-feeling chassis and nimble suspension, but the new model ultimately fell short of the coveted rating due to powertrain issues. The institute's reviewers found the base 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine to be underpowered and noted "drivability issues" when the available turbocharged 1.4-liter four was paired with the optional dual-clutch transmission (some of our editors disliked it paired with the six-speed manual). CR also dinged the latter powerplant for sounding "raspy." For what it's worth, we think the forced-induction engine offers an excellent and playful exhaust note, but that's just us.
As for the XTS, CR lauded the car for its luxurious cabin, but the vehicle's experience was dulled by its finicky CUE infotainment interface. Overall, the big Cadillac scored much higher than its cross-town rival from Lincoln. While testers found the American luxury sedan to offer a quiet ride and quality fit and finish, they felt the MKS delivered a "cramped driving position, ungainly handling, uncomposed ride, and limited visibility." Ouch. At the end of the day, both cars fell short of rivals from Japan, Germany and Korea. Check out the full press release below with more details, along with CR's musings on the Chevrolet Spark and Lexus ES.
