I would give the outside cosmetic appearance of the car a 9/10 due to a couple very minor scratches and minor curb rash. I would give the interior of my car a 9/10 due to a finicky radio volume control button (sometimes it jumps the level of music, however the steering wheel control works perfectly). Everything else on the car is immaculate, the leather is in great condition. The car has never been smoked in, and is washed and vacuumed regularly to maintain its pristine condition. It has been garage kept its entire life and the clear-coat is very vibrant and shiny."

Hi,

Let me first say, I am very sad to part with my Lincoln MKZ. My car is in incredibly good condition, both mechanically and cosmetically. If I were not moving to New Haven CT this fall, having to park on the street at my new place of residence, I would not even consider selling this car. It has everything I could ask for, heated and cooled leather seats, full bluetooth compatibility (both for phone connectivity and music streaming), a very comfortable ride, memory seats, remote engine start, a spacious trunk and rear seats for adults, sunroof that tilts and opens fully, cheap to insure,  no issues whatsoever and a lifetime power-train warranty from Gerald Auto.

Unfortunately, the lifetime power-train warranty that I have from Gerald Auto is non-transferable. If you are interested in my car and want to have it inspected by a mechanic prior to a sale, I would be more than happy to take it to your mechanic or dealership of choice to have it looked at. Additionally, although my car is in perfect condition (I have it inspected every 3,000 miles), just incase of any engine/transmission issue occurring during your inspection, my warranty will cover it before you would buy it! (How many other people selling their used car can offer that peace of mind?)

I have made sure to keep up with maintenance on a rigorous schedule, even though the car is driven lightly. I have my oil changed every 3,000 miles, even though Lincoln calls for every 5,000. I have my air filter changed every 10,000, even though Lincoln calls for every 20,000. My car receives a wash nearly every-time it touches rain because I do not like rain water sitting on my clear-coat. I clean and condition the interior, as well as vacuum the floor and mats weekly. You are bidding on a car which has been taken care of scrupulously.

My recent check-up on May 23rd resulted in:
1. New ceramic brake pads
2. New front rotors
3. Machined rear rotors
4. Full brake fluid flush

I have paperwork for the entire duration that I have owned my Lincoln. I also have the original owners manual, as well as guides,  Lincoln Sync tips, and brochures which came with the car new. Additionally, I have both sets of keys for the vehicle which includes the remote engine starter! (Yes, each set has its own remote engine starter button).

This car is very "neat" in terms of the features it offers and the customizability within. For example, you can set the vehicle to slide the drivers seat back each time the door is opened, making it easier to get in and out. If you don't like the feature, you simply turn it off. You can specify how long the lights stay on at night after locking the car and if the lamps that light up on the bottom side of the mirrors light up or not. You can even click and hold the lock and unlock button on the key fob at the same time and the front windows as well as sunroof open.

I did my research and saw that dealers are selling my year (2008) Lincoln MKZ base for around $13,500-$15,000. I was even scanning my local Chicago craigslist and saw a few guys selling older or salvage title MKZ's for $12,000 ($100 more than my starting bid).

My MKZ has an absolutely clear title, check it out for yourself on Autocheck or Carfax, there is nothing to hide!

Next Lincoln Navigator to drop V8 in favor of V6, but Ford Expedition might get both

Tue, 12 Mar 2013

A great many buyers fled from full-size body-on-frame SUVs to car-based crossovers in large measure to save fuel. But that doesn't mean there's still not a buying audience for more traditional truck-based utility vehicles, and those consumers doubtlessly wouldn't mind saving some dollars at the pump, too. According to Motor Trend, those shoppers might be in luck.
That's because the magazine has confirmed that Ford isn't walking away from the full-size SUV segment, and it's poised to do something about its offerings' economy ratings, too. According to MT, global Lincoln director Matt VanDyke has hinted that the next Navigator may drop two cylinders and go with a V6 model - the current model gets just 14 miles per gallon in the city and 20 on the highway from its 5.4-liter V8. The obvious fitment would be Ford's 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6, an engine that has spread like kudzu throughout the rest of the Blue Oval's large vehicle lineup.
Downsized turbocharged engines like Ford's EcoBoost franchise have come under fire as of late for not delivering their EPA fuel economy ratings, but their benefits extend beyond consumption - the 3.5L offers superior power and a better torque curve than the naturally aspirated V8. MT also suggests that Ford's 3.7-liter V6 could form the base engine for the next Navi - it has similar horsepower but a lot less torque than the current 5.4L. That may be less of a problem with the next generation tipped to go on a diet, which could level the playing field somewhat.

Ford and Lincoln recall about 170,000 vehicles over defective rear-view camera

Wed, Sep 6 2023

Ford and Lincoln have jointly issued a safety recall that includes nearly 170,000 vans and SUVs built between the 2018 and 2023 model years. The vehicles included in the campaign are equipped with a rear-view camera whose image can cut out while the driver is backing up. Assigned recall number 23V-598 by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the campaign includes the following cars: 7,649 units of the 2020-2023 Aviator fitted with the standard rear-view camera and built from October 19, 2019, to August 17, 2023. 70,600 units of the 2018-2021 Navigator fitted with the 360-degree camera and built from March 16, 2017, to December 23, 2021. 66,740 units of the 2022-2023 Transit fitted with either camera system and built from February 26, 2021, to August 17, 2023. 24,468 units of the 2021 Bronco fitted with the 360-degree camera and built from September 23, 2020, to December 22, 2021. Ford explains that the defect is present in all of the 169,277 vehicles included in the campaign. While these are different cars equipped with different technology, they all suffer from the same problem. The company explains that "customers may intermittently experience either a rear camera blue image or a full blue or black image on the SYNC [infotainment system] screen when the vehicle is placed in reverse, or when the 360-degree view is selected and available." It adds that losing the camera's image while backing up increases the risk of the crash. The cause of the problem varies from model to model. Ford has narrowed it down to the camera hardware, the wiring retention, and the Image Processing Module - V (IPMB) software. It adds that "fretting corrosion causes tin oxide formation on the internal camera connector due to [a] thermally-induced micro-movement between the tin-plated contact surfaces," and that the rate of tin oxide accumulation depends on factors such as the temperature and the humidity. It has also traced some of these issues to a problem during the manufacturing process. Ford will begin notifying owners of affected vehicles by mail on October 2. When parts are available, owners will be asked to bring their van or SUV to an authorized dealer so that a technician can replace the rear-view camera. Transit models included in the campaign will also receive a software update. Owners who have already paid to fix the problem can claim a reimbursement until June 30, 2024. This isn't Ford's first rear-view camera-related recall.

Ford announces fix for 2021 Expedition and Lincoln Navigator fires

Sat, Jul 9 2022

In the middle of May, Ford announced a recall of around 39,000 Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators from the 2021 model year due to fires starting under the hoods of the SUVs. At the time, Ford had received 16 incident reports, 14 of them happening with rental vehicles. The automaker cautioned owners to park their vehicles outside and away from structures while engineers figured out what was happening and how to fix the problem. Since that May announcement, five more fires have been reported, four of them rental vehicles, and there's been one burn injury. The company announced it understands the problem and has a fix, at the same time widening the scope of potentially affected vehicles. Instead of recalling 39,013 units built between December 1, 2020, and April 30, 2021, the recall now includes 66,221 vehicles assembled from July 27, 2020, to Aug. 31, 2021. The suspected culprit is a circuit board provided by a supplier that changed manufacturing location during the pandemic. Ford's press release on the matter stated that "circuit boards produced at this facility are uniquely susceptible to a high-current short." The affected vehicles are fitted with either an 800-watt or 700-watt cooling fan system. About a third of the recalled population are fitted with the former, and should get a quick fix at the dealer. On these SUVs, techs will inspect the battery junction box. If they find evidence of melting, they'll replace the whole box. If not, they'll simply remove the engine fan ground wire that runs to the battery junction box; since this ground relay is redundant, the change doesn't alter operation of the fans.  Owners with the 700-watt system might need to wait until September for a fix. These vehicles need an auxiliary relay box with a wire jumper, but the parts aren't available now.   Ford's notifying all owners via the FordPass app, and will follow up with owners of the 700-watt cooling system once the parts are in stock. Until their vehicles are fixed, Ford says the SUVs are safe to drive but that they should still be parked outside and away from structures. The somewhat mixed messaging — 'Yes, your cars are safe to drive, but they could catch fire so don't park them near anything flammable' — encouraged a group of owners to file suit against Ford. Owners with questions can contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332 and reference recall No. 22S36.
