Thanks for looking at this listing for my 2003 Lincoln LS V8. I bought this car in 2008 with 31k miles. The car is as clean today as it was the day I bought it and performs great. I'm selling the car because my wife and myself each have company cars. I also have a pick-up and simply don't have the room, or need, any longer for a 4th car. The condition of this car is as close to excellent as you'll find in an LS. The car has been adult driven (I'm 41) and never been abused. All maintenance, both routine and required, have been performed with an "open checkbook", as you'll see when you read on.
Exterior Condition: Always parked in garage
- No cracks in any glass
- No dents
- Paint is as glossy as brand new
- Only (1) minor scratch on front bumper cover (approx. 4" long). Attempted to photograph but couldn't get it to show up in picture
Interior Condition:
- Leather is perfect. (during the 5 years we've owned car, no one has even sat in the back seat)
- Carpet is perfect
- Leather steering wheel not ripped and all seams are still perfect
Mechnical Condition:
- The engine runs perfect. We have always, without exception, operated this car with the required 91+ octane gasoline. Zero knocks or ticks
- All ignition coils replaced by Lincoln
- The transmission operates perfect. It was professionally rebuilt at Fairway Ford/Lincoln/Mecurcy in Greenville, SC the week of 2/25/2013 ($2,300)
- The brakes are perfect. Complete brake job performed at approx. 82k miles (new pads, new rotors, all new hardware)
- The tires are perfect. New set of Kuhmo tires put on the care with approx. 81k miles
- All original equipment. No aftermarket parts at all
- I drove the car on a 450 mile round trip the first week of February. Still gets 25 mpg on the highway.

2015-2019 Lincoln MKC recalled over fire risk in engine bay
Mon, Jun 5 2023Ford has commenced a recall of 142,734 examples of the Lincoln MKC from the 2015 to the 2019 model years. The potential issue centers on the battery monitor sensor in the compact luxury crossover. After reports of 19 fires in MKCs in the U.S., Canada and China, Ford's internal investigation found that the monitor sensor housing could be damaged when technicians worked in that area of the engine bay. If the housing damage caused the sensor to short circuit, the short could lead to an electrical load in the sensor's power circuit that causes enough heat to set fire to surrounding material. That could lead to a fire in the engine bay at any time, while driving or even when the MKC is turned off. The Lincolns were built from August 20, 2013 to August 2, 2019. The automaker says it isn't aware of any injuries or accidents due to this; all of the models that caught fire were parked and off at the time. Because of the risk of fire at any time, Ford is recommending that owners park outside and away from structures until owners have had the issue repaired. The fix is a trip to the dealer to have a fuse added to the battery monitor sensor power circuit that can kill the current in the event of a short. Ford will begin sending letters to MKC owners on June 26. In the meantime, owners are free to contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332 to find out more about the recall or if their MKC is affected, or they can get in touch with their local Ford or Lincoln dealer. The company's internal number for this recall is 23S28. Owners can also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 (TTY 800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov, and refer to campaign number 23V378. What will the next Presidential limo look like?
Thu, 25 Jul 2013With recent news that the Secret Service has begun soliciting proposals for a new armored limousine, we've been wondering what the next presidential limo might look like. The current machine, nicknamed "The Beast", has a design based on a car that's no longer sold: the Cadillac DTS. If General Motors gets the job again, which wouldn't be a surprise considering the government still owns a chunk of the company, the next limo's shape would likely resemble the new XTS (below, left). But Cadillac hasn't always been the go-to car company for presidential whips.
Lincoln has actually provided far more presidential limousines throughout history than Cadillac. In fact, the first car modified for Commander-in-Chief-carrying duty was a 1939 Lincoln K-Series called "Sunshine Special" used by Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the last Lincoln used by a president was a 1989 Town Car ordered for George H.W. Bush. If President Obama wanted a Lincoln today, it would likely be an amalgam of the MKS sedan and MKT crossover, as illustrated above.
And what about Chrysler? The only record we could find of a President favoring the Pentastar is Nixon, who reportedly ordered two limos from the company during his administration in the '70s, and then another one, known today as the "K-Car limo," in the '80s after he left office. Obama, however, has a personal - if modest - connection to Chryslers, having owned a 300 himself before he took office. A 300-based Beast (above, right) would certainly earn the U.S. some style points.
Lincoln's $5B revival bid hinges upon new D6 chassis
Mon, 27 Oct 2014It's no secret that Lincoln has received short shrift from the Ford Motor Company for years, and former CEO Alan Mullay even wanted to kill the whole thing off when he ran things. Today, things appear to be trending in a different direction. Fresh investment has helped enable a sizable marketing push for its well-regarded MKC compact crossover, a couple of awards for the company and plant the seeds for a major expansion into China. While the situation is still in the early going, it looks like Lincoln is on a tentative (if long) path towards a turnaround. If new reports are accurate, the brand is poised to build on that momentum with its largest investment in new products in years thanks in large measure to a new modular platform codenamed D6.
According to four unnamed insiders speaking to Reuters, FoMoCo is investing over $5 billion over the next five years, partially to create a new modular platform to underpin multiple Lincoln vehicles - and possibly some Ford products, too. Development is reportedly being overseen by the division's new boss, Kumar Galhotra. At the moment, specific details about the D6 chassis aren't yet known, but it's rumored to have the flexibility to support front-, rear- and all-wheel drive vehicles. According to Reuters, the first model using the framework could be an MKZ replacement and seven-passenger MKT successor in 2019.
Until the D6-based models hit, expect to see continued expansion from Lincoln. Ford management isn't trying to turn around the division overnight and is planning "in terms of generations of products," according to current CEO Mark Fields. The strategy unsurprisingly includes a production version of Lincoln's recent MKX Concept, as well as an all-new Navigator using aluminum-intensive architecture. Reuters also claims the MKS is due for renewal in the meantime, including with a longer-wheelbase version to appeal to the brand's new Chinese buyers.
