I am putting up my 1964 Lincoln Continental Sedan w/ the A/C option. This car was brought in from the West Coast 3 years ago from a good friend, and I bought it from him, after a year of begging him to take my money. This Lincoln has about 15% left to be in show quality, mostly body work. I have had the privilege of owning this Lincoln Continental Sedan for almost two years. I have done a large list to the car since I bought it. As always these old classic cars can use a few things. Unless of course you have done a frame off restoration, and if you are looking at this you know what kind of  premium they bring. I tried to stay as close to original as I could. I have done a few things off color like the brushed nickel on the air breather and the valve covers. All the power windows work, The A/C has been nearly redone top to bottom. The last piece is the resistor and it will stay ice cold. Right now it gets cold and blows for around 5-10 mins and then shuts off. I checked with Lincolnlandinc and they have the part available. It is time to pass this piece of history on to a car enthusiast who will show this beautiful sedan the love and care it deserves. It needs to be around another 50 years. This 1964 needs very little. You can hop in the car, fire it off, and the 430 M.E.L. 7.0 liter roars to life. It floats down the road like a dream, and still has legs at 80 mph. You will not be disappointed about any part of this Lincoln.

I have personally done the following:

New timing chain set

New water pump

New fan

New brake solenoid

New brake shoes

New ignition coil

New distributor

New points, plugs, and wires

Rebuilt the carburetor

Ran new fuel pump hose

New valve cover seal

Refinished the valve covers in brushed nickel

Refinished the air cleaner in brushed nickel.

Replaced a rear axle bearing and the rear axle seal

Rebuilt the drive shaft and put in new knuckles

Put in a new A/C clutch

Put in new high and low A/C valves

Put on new belts

Brazed the coolant tank and pressure tested the system

Put in a functional stereo with MP3 and AUX

NADA guidelines for classic cars puts high retail at $29,150

Lincoln poised to double MKZ Hybrid production

Thu, 18 Jul 2013

The Lincoln MKZ Hybrid has been something of a hit for Ford since the beginning, exceeding the company's modest projected 15-percent take rate for more than two years (we say "modest" because that still means an overwhelming majority of Lincoln customers are passing up on the gas-electric powertrain even though it costs the same as the standard model). Either way, Lincoln builds 700 MKZ Hybrids at its plant in Mexico each month, but has sold 715 of them in each of the past three months. That's why, according to a report in The Detroit News, when the restyled 2014 MKZ Hybrid arrives (non-hybrid pictured), Ford is doubling production compared to 2013. Instead of the hybrid model being 20 percent of production, the new hybrid will make up 40 percent.
Ford is doing well with hybrids in general - its portion of the electrified vehicle segment jumping 12 points in a single year to 16 percent. Assuming Ford doesn't change the pricing strategy (along with the changes Ford is making to calibration to improve fuel economy), the sedan could continue to "[show] other luxury hybrids how it's done" when it goes on sale later this year.

Lincoln putting perfume on its sales

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

Lincoln has a scent. But unlike those from Mustang, Lamborghini or even Shark by Tara, you can't buy it and you have to visit a Lincoln dealership to inhale its notes of jasmine hedione, mate tea leaves and tonka beans. Essence of Lincoln - that's what it's called - is being piped through the ventilation systems at some showrooms to help "create an emotional connection between the luxury brand and its customers," and olfactorily promote the idea of "luxury and warmth." Where it's not run through the ducts, visitors can sample it on scent cards.
Master perfumer Rene Morgenthaler worked with aroma house SensoryMax to design Essence of Lincoln. Also including traces of Earl Grey bergamot and green tea, whenever you encounter it you're meant to enjoy "a feeling of belonging to an exclusive, forward-thinking group that values style and success." And then buy an MKC. There's a press release below with details and an image to explain more, if you're still having a little trouble smelling the orange blossoms.

Consumer Reports says these are the worst new cars of 2014

Thu, 27 Feb 2014

Consumer Reports has announced its annual list of worst vehicles, a cringe-inducing contrast to its list of top vehicles. Ignominiously leading the way in 2014 is Chrysler, which has a staggering seven models listed.
Jeep nearly sweeps the small SUV segment by itself, with its Compass, Patriot and 2.4-liter version of the new Cherokee, while the only midsize sedans listed by CR were the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger. The new Dodge Dart and the Dodge Journey round out CR's condemnation of Chrysler.
Ford is taking heat as well, with the Taurus, Edge and their counterparts from Lincoln all listed as the worst vehicles in their respective segments. Toyota doesn't fare much better, with its Lexus IS, Scion iQ and tC also making the list.
