Clean 1997 Land Rover Discovery Series I Se-7 Off-road Ready Rust Free Ca Disco! on 2040-cars
San Mateo, California, United States
Remarkably clean 1997 Land Rover Discovery Series I. This is the fourth year of the Discovery Series I, SE-7 model, with the extra fold-away seats in rear. It is fairly loaded with all Power amenities except DVD system. This Discovery also has dual Power sunroofs ( both work fine and DO NOT leak), roof bars and factory Tow package ( although nothing has been towed). No engine issues or other drama. The stock 4.0L engine runs GREAT, and had the heads worked on less than 5K ago, aside from other work to include a new ABS module, alternator, starter, readiator, water pump, O2 sensors, battery, brakes and other usual service items. Additionally, it has had professional lift done in rear, along with many Off-road upgrades, to include: * Front 4:11 Detroit Locker differential * Rear 4:11 Open differential * Lift set-up from RoverLand * Heavy-duty off-road service jack * Urethane suspension bushings * A.R.B super heavy-duty front bumper * WARN electric winch with remote inside control * CB radio with frontal antenna mount * Off-road tires * Auxiliary Tow loops * Rear back-up camera * Factory taillight guards * Brushguard ( built-in) * HELLA 500FF auxiliary lights * Front lift blocks from Roverland available at no charge * Excellent sound system This Land Rover is and has been a 100% rust-free CALIFORNIA CAR all of its life. It has been locally owned since sold brand-new at Land Rover of San Jose in the south bay, and owned by two owners since. Considering its vintage, This Discovery I is remarkably clean for its age, WITHOUT the usual head-gasket issues nor overheating, and it will make a great traveler or off-road trekker. In addition, it has had a full brake service performed about a year ago, and all-new off-road radial tires in March. I have spent over 20 years in this great country's military and have owned Land Rovers of various types and vintage for nearly 35 years. I am well versed on all the Land Rover quirks and have assessed this DI as a VERY solid, straight and completely rust-free example of a Discovery. This Landie sits quietly in the garage at my home, in company of my three other Rovers. NON-SMOKER, NO pets or children in it. Always adult-owned, and its condition and all its upgraded reflect its investment. * I reserve the right to end this listing at any time prior to the end of the auction, should an offer or a BUT-IT-NOW offer present itself. I Shall be glad to assist with NATIONWIDE or OVERSEAS delivery at the most economical shipping rate available. I can do all coordination from here, and you pay the transporter cost directly to the shipper upon receipt of the Discovery. Should you be the winning bidder, I would like to receive payment within THREE business days, please. Cashiers check or Bank draft are preferred. Personal, business or annuity checks may be utilized, but must clear funds source prior to any transportation arrangements being made. Another option is a Bank wire transfer to my local CHASE Bank branch here in town. That expedites the process considerably and allows for faster shipping arrangements. Upon receipt of payment, I will overnight the title, registration card, bill of sale, service records and factory manuals to the winning bidder for your protection. Feel free to EM or call with questions or inquiries. Thank you for your interest~! |

Fully Charged rolls into season 3 with VW XL1 and electric Land Rover
Sat, Jan 18 2014It's been some time since last we visited with British actor and electric car proponent Robert Llewellyn and his web-based video series, Fully Charged. The show, now sponsored by Ecotricity, has started rolling out its third season and now has available two episodes featuring a pair of truly unique – and diametrically opposed – vehicles. The first installment starts with some interesting numbers involving the host's Nissan Leaf and its energy consumption over the past 36,000 miles, but soon moves on to the ultra-aero, ultra-expensive Volkswagen XL1. Now, if you've already seen the footage from our own XL1 first drive review, there's not a lot new here except, perhaps, more enthusiasm and a better listen of the two-cylinder diesel kicking in. Still, it's a great reminder of a truly unique vehicle and we enjoyed the segment. The second episode features an electrified Land Rover Defender 110. This is a vehicle you'd more likely see on an African safari than at the local mall. It's not a home-built conversion either, but rather, something the company has put together "for the boffins to create the ideas and see if they work." Boasting a 50-mile range, it's certainly something we like to take on an off-road adventure. Llewellyn is given the chance to do just that, and though the course is somewhat milder than what we might attempt, it does feature a stretch of river and some rough, rutted tracks. You can watch both episodes by scrolling below let us know which vehicle you'd prefer in the comments. This writer is going with the four-wheel-drive. This content is hosted by a third party. Jaguar and Land Rover to consolidate dealerships
Thu, 29 Nov 2012Jaguar and Land Rover are set to merge their sales facilities, according to Inside Line. Jaguar Land Rover North America President Andy Gross says 45 percent of Jaguar owners also have an SUV in their stable, so it makes sense to give customers as much exposure to the cat's high-riding cousins and possible. The number of overall outlets will remain the same, and the brands will reportedly remain separate on the showroom floor, however.
So far, just one dealer has made the move to combine under the roof of one 68,000 square-foot facility in Paramus, New Jersey (above), though a further 20 are ready to make the shift and become Jaguar Land Rover outlets. Gross believes the shift is necessary so that his company's dealer network will accurately reflect the company's products. We'll see how cozy the brands are when Jaguar starts rolling out its own SUVs in a few years.
