2000 Land Rover Discovery Se7 Series Ii Many Extras! Enthusiast Owned! on 2040-cars
Demotte, Indiana, United States
Looking to sell my beloved 2000 Land Rover Discovery 2 SE7. I've owned this truck for about 4 years and I absolutely love it! Has been nothing short of fantastic the entire time! I'm a Land Rover enthusiast and this by far has been one of my favorite rides. Bought it with 170,000 miles to replace a 99 Discovery that I had. Original factory option Safety Devices full roof rack. Had factory brush bar, but it was getting rather rusty so I had a custom winch bumper/brush bar built by Platinum Motorsports outside of Louisville, KY. Has an 8,000 or 10,000 lb winch tucked in the bumper as well. Really have nothing bad to say about this truck. Only getting rid of to get another project. The Good, The Bad and the Upgrades are as follows:
The Good: Runs great! Leather in great condition Full factory mud mats all around (Front seats, rear seats, rear cargo area) Newer Dunlop Radial Rovers all around. (No more than 12,000 miles on them) Rides really smooth The Bad: Rock chip in windshield (not in line of sight, so not a big deal) Small crunch in hood where a deer thumped it Small crunch in passenger side rear panel below tail lamp Couple rust spots on roof Few rust spots on roof rack Rust on rear ladder Cats are starting to rattle a bit The Upgrades: Optima Red Top Battery OME 2" lift springs OME Shocks all around 4 Hella lamps mounted to roof rack (not wired) Transmission replaced about 1000 miles ago with a good used unit Front driveshaft replaced with stronger aftermarket unit with greesable fittings Tall Jack mounted to roof rack Platinum Motorsports custom front bumper with intergrated brush bar Large winch mounted in front bumper Vehicle sat for a year after the front driveshaft blew at 55 mph and took out the transmission with it. Once I found the right transmission and parts, had it sent to my shop where my mechanics not only installed the transmission and new driveshaft. I also had them go through the entire truck to get it running right again. Tune up, battery cables, drained fluids, etc. All been done within the last 1000 miles. I have well over $8K invested in this truck. While I know I'll never get out of it what I put into it, seeing her go to a good home that will appreciate her and enjoy her is all I want. Feel free to ask any questions and make any respectable reasonable offers. She does need to go! Thank you for looking! |

Ford's J Mays feels vindicated by Fusion reception
Tue, 25 Sep 2012It's hard to think back now, but the same man overseeing the design of the 2013 Ford Fusion also presided over a rather lackluster period in Ford design, highlighted by vehicles like the Five Hundred and Freestyle. With the redesigned Fusion receiving high praise, J Mays tells Automotive News that he feels vindicated from criticisms suggesting he's not a daring enough designer.
When Mays took over as lead of design in 1997, he admits to having quite an ego ("My head would barely fit through the door some days. I've long since gotten over myself") and the workload to match. With the Blue Oval's portfolio full of premium brands like Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo at that point, along with the bread-and-butter Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models, Mays certainly had quite the challenge.
It was in the mid-2000s that Mays took over just the premium brands, and took on the new title of Chief Creative Officer. At the time, Mays endured some criticism for looking backwards to retro styling, rather than setting a new standard for American car design - criticism that Mays says he is free from with the all-new Fusion.
Second 'No Time To Die' trailer drops with lots of crunching metal
Thu, Sep 3 2020The second trailer for the new James Bond film, "No Time To Die," was posted to social media Thursday morning, getting us thoroughly hyped for the forthcoming installment thanks to some spicy car content and lots of other ridiculous, big-budget action sequences. Fair warning for the purists: This might contain plot- and character-related information from the trailer itself. Also, it appears that many Land Rover Defenders died in the making of this film, so the footage may not be for the faint of heart; don't say we didn't give you advance notice. As is typical of Bond films, most of the automotive eye candy is of the European variety. The classic Aston Martin DB5 gadget car (which we saw doing some crazy machine-gun donuts in the first trailer) makes yet another appearance, as does what appears to be fourth-generation Maserati Quattroporte. There's even something which might be a car, but also appears to be both some sort of airplane and submersible. Never change, Bond. We love it. And then there are the Defenders. We've got Defenders speeding down hillsides, Defenders crashing through forests, Defenders flying over Land Cruisers. Yeah, do you like Land Cruisers? There's a Land Cruiser. It even (spoiler alert!) survives relatively unscathed; the same cannot be said for most of the automotive shenanigans we get to see here. "No Time To Die" was originally slated to debut back in April, but its original release date roughly coincided with the projected peak of early coronavirus infections. Given how important the Bond film franchise's continued success is to MGM (it's virtually the only thing the studio has had going for it for 30 years) and the producers (who only make Bond films), meager box office returns were not an option. The last film, Spectre, pulled in the worldwide gross of $880 million, including $200 million in the United States and $83.5 million in China. The wait is almost over. "No Time to Die" will hit theaters Nov. 25 in the United States. Related Video:
European automakers gear up for Brazilian production
Mon, 07 Oct 2013Brazil is the place to be, apparently. Toyota has been investing in the South American country, as has BMW, which announced a $261 million investment in October 2012, on the heels of an Audi factory announcement in San José Chiapa. The high-end immigration is only set to continue, as Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar-Land Rover have both announced plans to set up manufacturing operations there.
Mercedes is the big news here, as its new facility will see the German manufacturer invest 170-million euros for production of its next-generation C-Class and upcoming GLA-Class. "Brazil is an important future market. With our local production we accept the challenge and take on the competition," noted Andreas Renschler, Management Board member for Production and Procurement at Mercedes-Benz Cars and Mercedes-Benz Vans. Production is expected to begin by 2016.
Jaguar-Land Rover, meanwhile, isn't so concrete in its plans. The news of its investment in South America comes from a job posting for a plant quality manager in Brazil that was picked up by the UK's AutoCar. "Portuguese language skills will be definite advantage" for interested candidates, according to the job listing. The want ad follows on the heels of remarks by Jaguar Land Rover's Dr. Ralph Speth, who said there are "very intensive discussions" with Brazil's government. Unlike Mercedes, there's no mention of which vehicles will be produced in South America, although AutoCar thinks the Freelander, sold in the US as the LR2, is a leading contender.
