Lamborghini implements 4-day workweek for production workers
Sun, Dec 10 2023Wikipedia Lamborghini is planning to implement a four-day workweek for its production workers. The new workweek is a historic industry win; other auto unions have failed to secure the same terms. Other companies that use the four-day workweek have reported high levels of productivity. On Tuesday, Lamborghini announced a deal with its unions to implement a four-day workweek for car production workers. The unions called the agreement "historical," per Reuters. It is the first agreement of its kind in the European auto industry that reduces working hours without a wage cut — instead, it includes a raise and a one-time bonus of $1,082 in the next month. Overall, the new workweek will mean production workers work up to 31 fewer days a year, according to Road & Track. Lamborghini isn't the only company in Europe to adopt the shortened workweek — others, like the bank Intesa Sanpaolo and eyewear company EssilorLuxottica, have also recently made the change, per Reuters. Companies in Britain that have made the change have reported increased work productivity, better job retention and recruitment rates, and fewer sick days, according to Reuters. Other unions in the auto industry could not get companies like Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis to approve the shortened work hours, per The Street. "Work less and work better, this is the principle that guided this negotiation, and which is part of a comprehensive reasoning," FIOM and FIM-CISL unions said in a statement, per Road & Track. It's been a year of historic developments for the auto industry. In late October, the United Auto Workers strike ended strikes and made tentative agreements with all Big Three Detroit automakers, per previous Business Insider reporting. The deals included 25% raises, cost-of-living adjustments, and more accessible paths to full pay. Plants/Manufacturing UAW/Unions Lamborghini
Man hired to remove Confederate monuments finds Lambo burned
Wed, Jan 20 2016A contractor in Louisiana is discovering that no good deed goes unpunished. After David Mahler, the owner of H&O Investments, was hired by the city of New Orleans to remove monuments to the rebellious Confederate States of America, he was subjected to death threats. Then his Lamborghini was set on fire. What's bizarre here is the sequence of events. The death threats started rolling in after Mahler was announced as the city's contractor to remove monuments to Confederate Generals Robert E. Lee, PGT Beauregard, and Confederate States of America President Jefferson Davis. Then the threatening phone calls started rolling in, New Orleans NBC affiliate WDSU reports. Mahler then pulled his company out of the job, but that didn't stop the torching of the new Huracan. A Baton Rouge Fire Department investigation into the fire at the H&O Investments office is still in progress, WDSU reports, but when Mahler's attorney calls the circumstances "extremely suspicious," it's not an unreasonable statement. The car was utterly unrecognizable after the fire. You can make out the tires and seat frames, and a lump of melted metal where the engine used to be, but that's about all that's left of Sant'Agata's new entry-level model. It's just another victim in a war that most sane people understand ended over 150 years ago. Check out WDSU's report at the top of the page for before and after images of the poor Huracan.
World's largest Lamborghini dealer is in Dubai, because of course it is
Thu, Apr 27 2017Dubai is a place where supercars are so common, even the police drive them. So it's not at all surprising that Lamborghini would open its largest dealership ever in the city. The dealer is three stories tall and has over 19,000 square feet. That's a lot of space for cars, and according to Lamborghini's CEO, Stefano Domenicali, that space is needed, and perhaps other dealers will need to expand. In the release announcing the dealership's opening, he says Lamborghini expects its overall sales to double when the Urus launches this year. This will require more sales and service space. The Dubai Lamborghini dealer isn't just sales and service, though. In the photos above, you can clearly see that a large portion of real estate is dedicated to selling merchandise. Among the trinkets on sale are shirts, hats, keychains, mugs, and model cars. So regardless of your net worth, this dealer has something for you.
