1995 Jeep Wrangler Yj - Wow Epic Mount on 2040-cars
Kensington, Maryland, United States
4 cyl – 2.5L Manual 5 speed w/~150K miles
Recient work: Replace clutch, rear main, seal oil pan, change oil and all fluids. The transfer case was checked and resealed. The jeep is house broken. No leaks. I had it re-geared to 4:88 so it runs very well on the highway (both front and rear) axle seals were done while we had it open. Resealed the diff covers, new fluid. We painted the pumpkins orange. I seem to remember that we did the muffler and tailpipe too. One side of the emergency brake cables was stretched so it was replaced. Front breaks and rotors were done. The tires are 33” x12.5(Firestone Destination M/T ). I replaced the rusty hubs with new American Racing hubs. Tires and wheels are in great shape. The mounting plate for the winch was modified and winch properly installed. There is a lower radiator hose heater with plug in the front for winter. I put on the rugged ridge steering stabilizer which helped a lot with control on the highway. The mechanic called it death rattle, hitting bumps / potholes and bridge joints at speed is much improved. Added blue LED down lights, inside cab foot well LED lights on a dimmer & front grill light. I replaced front auxiliary lights and added two horns (for fun.) The controls are in the cab with switches for bunny burners, zombie lights and beer cooler. There is also an additional cigarette lighter and 12v 20A power circuit. New Wet Okole seat covers front and rear. Replaced windshield seal and worked to seal all leaks into the cab. It's a jeep thing. The floorboards are in exceptional condition. Undercarriage is in fantastic shape. The jeep was stored inside for most of it’s life. The Epic Mount stickers and Blizzard Entertainment stickers can be easily removed.
I put a new top and door covers on. I am pretty sure that I have the old one is in the garage. Everything I have for the jeep, old seat covers, misc door gaskets, etc come with. I didn’t know that the seat covers could be sent to the wet Okole people to be reworked rather than buying new. The jeep comes with a summer bikini top not perfect but kind of fun and a cover. Jumper cables so you can help other people assorted tools. Jeep cover. New light on the trailer hitch.
Potential issues? The previous owner reported that the AC is intermittent. I found that to be true. Sometimes it would work and sometimes not. I have not had a chance to investigate but it looks to me like the heater core was replaced. The lines get cold and I have felt cool air but it is inconsistent. Ahh, who needs AC in the jeep anyhow.
I don’t know what else to tell you. I have had a lot of fun working on the jeep and fixing it up. Most of the mechanical work was done in cooperation with a local auto shop. I wanted it to be reliable. Why am I am offering the YJ for sale? The divorce has taken it’s toll on my ability to keep my toys but my loss is your gain. If you are looking for a jeep that is in great shape then bid on this puppy. I hate to see it go but … it happens. I loaned the jeep to a friend last week. When we were putting on the top the back window zipper on the left side got stuck and is now missing a tooth or two. I am going to see if I can get the zipper back in or if I have the old back window panel. I've discounted the reserve to account for this. I drove it today and don't mind keeping it. I'd drive it anywhere (sidewalks ? :-) I see no reason this truck wouldn't go anywhere. I was driving 66 miles a day this past winter - no issues. Oh there was a little leaking that is evidently common to jeep wranglers. I think I got it figured out. Depending on your location and the final sale price I might be able to help with delivery. I have bought and sold several cars through ebay so I know what is like to get it home. Send a note if you have questions. Good luck bidding. On Jun-30-14 at 05:59:21 PDT, seller added the following information: When I went to register the milage reported previously was higher than it is currently. I asked the previous owner and he said they made a mistake in keying the odometer. I have seen the DMV do all kinds of weird keying errors so I'm inclined to go with the odometer. It is what it is. If you have questions or are nearby and want to go for a ride, let me know. Thanks for checking out my auction. On Jul-03-14 at 04:30:10 PDT, seller added the following information: Hello Bidders. Thanks again for showing interest. I never liked fishing for the reserve on big ticket items. I was not very happy about bidding against new ebay accounts with zero feedback. This is a real auction, there are listing fees, final value fees and it takes time to make the auction, post and answer questions if you have any, monitor the auction and all of that. Please be serious about your bids, bid only if you want to buy the jeep and only for as much as you are willing and able to pay. It is a wonderful vehicle and I want it to go to someone who is intereseted and make a fair deal. FYI - the reserve is set at $7500. I hope you are interested and only bid what you are willing and able to pay. Thank you. |

FCA's U.S. sales chief sues company for wrongful retaliation
Thu, Jun 6 2019Some fresh controversy is brewing at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles as The Detroit News reports that the head of U.S. sales has filed a federal whistleblower lawsuit against the company.. Reid Bigland, who's also in charge of the Ram truck brand, alleges that FCA made him a scapegoat for wrongful sales inflation practices and fixing vehicle sales statistics, which are currently under investigation by federal agents. Bigland claims that FCA executives punished him for cooperating with the federal investigators in the case by cutting his pay by more than 90 percent, according to the lawsuit he filed. The plan apparently was to use the money saved to pay for fines following any settlements made with the Securities and Exchange Commission. So far, the lawsuit alleges that FCA cost Bigland over $1.8 million in income. "They had the largest growth in retail sales in 17 years last year and refuses to pay him," Deborah Gordon, Bigland's lawyer in the case, said to The Detroit News. "Why is that? Because he participated in the SEC investigation and they don't like what he said." Bigland claims he just cooperated with the SEC investigation by testifying about FCA's sales reporting, from the time he took the position to the period prior to being appointed the company's U.S. sales chief. "In late 2018, presumably as a way to wrap up their investigation with some result, the SEC suggested to plaintiff that he admit to some wrongdoing as to defendants' monthly sales reporting," Gordon further said in a statement as part of the lawsuit. "The SEC also suggested a resolution involving some penalty to FCA. Because (Bigland) had not engaged in any wrongdoing, and there was no wrongdoing, he declined to do so." However, exacerbating the issue is the fact that Bigland reportedly sold his shares in the company last year, prompting FCA to act against him even more. FCA came under fire recently by federal agents in at least two separate investigations, potentially exposing conspiracy and corruption between company executives and private entities. The investigations are being led independently by the U.S. Attorney's Office and the FBI. So far, eight convictions were reportedly secured, with one including former Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Vice President Alphons Iacobelli, as one of the defendants. Iacobelli was one of the former top labor-relations executives for the automaker.
EPA posts 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited fuel economy
Sun, Nov 5 2017When Jeep loosed a trio of 2018 Wrangler photos in October, Jeep cognoscenti parried over details like radio antenna placement and painted tailgate hinges, while every other viewer merely noted, "It's still a Wrangler." Now that the Environmental Protection Agency's listed fuel economy ratings for the 2018 Wrangler Unlimited with the 3.6-liter V6, Jeep savants will again parry over details. Every other viewer will merely note, "It's still got Wrangler gas mileage." According to the EPA, the current Wrangler Unlimited with the 3.6-liter V6 and six-speed manual clocks 16 miles per gallon in the city, 21 on the highway, and 18 combined. The 2018 version with the same six-speed manual comes in at 17/23/19. Switching transmissions, the current model with the five-speed automatic hooks up 16/20/18, the 2018 model with an eight-speed automatic does 18/23/20. Those numbers might not jump off the page, yet according to the EPA's cost calculator, you'll save $250 per year on gas with the eight-speed auto 2018 Wrangler Unlimited, $150 per year with the coming six-speed manual. The eight-speed auto option also exceeds Chrysler's prediction from 2014 of a nine-percent improvement in fuel economy over the five-speed auto. Now we wait for numbers on the dark horse four-cylinder, which we'd expect to best the sixer's numbers, unless the rumors are true and the four-pot really is packing every wild horse it can handle. In that case, we'll turn to the EcoDiesel for frugal kicks. If we don't find out beforehand, we can expect those goodies and more at the LA Auto Show in December. Hendrick wants to put Jeep Wranglers back on the battlefield
Mon, Jan 25 2016The Jeep Wrangler could be headed back to the battlefield. According to reports, negotiations are currently under way with the US Army to adapt the iconical American off-roader for military use. The Wranglers would serve as inexpensive, lightweight, unarmored vehicles that could be more easily airlifted into remote locations than costlier, heavier, and bulkier options. The proposal is not being fielded by the Jeep brand itself or its parent company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, but by Hendrick Dynamics. The Charlotte-based offshoot of NASCAR racing team Hendrick Motorsports calls its modified Wrangler the Hendrick Commando. Instead of the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 found in most US-market Wranglers, the Commando version employs the 2.8-liter diesel four built by VM Motori, modified to run on any type of diesel fuel or on JP-8 jet fuel to maximize its deployment versatility and comply with the Army's Single Fuel mandate of 2012. It would also support a variety of modular attachments for specific jobs, ranging from machine gun mounts and counter-mine rakes to radar arrays and advanced communications equipment. Hendrick says the Commando could also be deployed by helicopter or in cargo planes. And because it's based on a civilian platform, the Commando would also benefit from the latest advancements introduced by its manufacturer, the parts and service network already in place, and the thorough testing that's already gone into developing the Wrangler for civilian use. Hendrick has reportedly built 14 prototypes to date, including the two-door Commando 2 (based on the standard Wrangler), the four-door Commando 4 (based on the Wrangler Unlimited), and even a pickup conversion called the Commando S. It is not, however, the only company adapting Jeep Wranglers for military application. Israel-based Automotive Industries Ltd has been producing successive versions of the Wrangler-based Storm for use by the Israel Defense Forces and other militaries overseas since 1990. If the US Army awards the contract for the Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) vehicle to Hendrick Dynamics, it would bring the iconic Jeep back to the battlefield where it got its start. The brand and its most prolific model trace their roots back to the Willys MB, launched in 1941 on contract from the US Army for deployment in World War II.
