1971 Jeep Willys Cj5 Cj Fiberglass Body 4.3 Chevy V6 Muncie 4 Speed Project on 2040-cars
Charleston, West Virginia, United States
You are bidding on a 1971 Jeep CJ5 Project. The trailer shown in the pictures is not included. I purchased this with hopes of completing it as a fun toy. Unfortunately I have lost the storage space that I planned on using and rather than letting it sit I would rather it go to someone that can finish it. Now about the Jeep..... Frame/Chassis: This project is a combination of a number of different parts. The frame appears very solid. A former owner had done a nice job of cleaning and painting it. There are a few spots that need repainted but overall very solid. The original springs were swapped for some newer (and slightly longer) Jeep springs which should give it a better ride. The front end has a shackle reversal which should allow it to handle better. The previous owner also has mounted a Saginaw power steering box. Personally I would trim some of the excess steel away from the mount. I also have a stock cast iron Saginaw box mount that I will include. I purchased the Jeep without a steering column but I include a steering column and wheel from another Jeep that I parted out. You will need to come up with a shaft from the column to the box but those are relatively common and inexpensive. Body: The body tub and fenders are fiberglass. The hood, grille and windshield frame are steel. The tub was made by 4WD Hardware which from what I understand they made good bodies. The steel parts are in good condition and the windshield glass is nice. Although not shown, I purchased a used gas tank that looks to be in good shape. I also have the metal surrounding piece for the tank inlet and a new rubber gasket. I do not have any seats for this project. I have two radiators that I think can be made to work. One is new and the other is an older used radiator from Ford Mustang that looks good. For the most part you will need to wire this Jeep and you will need to purchase a speedometer. Since it came to me without a speedometer I listed the milage at 99,999. Drivetrain: The Jeep was converted to a Chevy V6 (not sure but I believe it to be a 4.3) and Muncie 4 speed conected to a Dana 20 transfercase via a Novak adapter. These adapters typically sell for about $600.00. The motor is locked and does not have a starter, distributor or flywheel. It looks like its purpose was to mock up the mounts and such. My plan was to pick up another running V6 (typically about $300 to $400 around here) or possibly a V8. Since the motor does run I could not test the transmission but it seems to shift nice. In addition to the Model 20 transfercase that is currently attached, I also have another Model 20 transfercase that looks pretty good and since I have no plans for it I will include it in the deal. The Jeep came to me without driveshafts but I have a couple from another Jeep project that might work and I will throw them in. There currently is no exhaust. There is a pedal assembly that came with the Jeep. It is the dual chamber style. I have a brand new mastercylinder that I will include. The rear axle is a 4.27 ratio. I did not pull the front cover but I will assume it has the same ratio. Tires/Wheels: The tires are LT325 BF Goodrich. They are a few years old but I don't think they were driven much if at all. Roll bar / Roll cage: It is not shown but I have a roll bar from another jeep that I will thow in. I also have the front bars to a roll cage that I will include in case you would like to weld them on and make a roll cage. The roll bar and cage parts have some surface rust. They will need cleaned and painted but they are solid. Personally I think this project has a lot of potential and would make a nice ride when finished but keep in mind that it is a project and still requires some work and some parts with the motor being the biggest issue. This is not something that you will have finished in a weekend. I am sure that I have missed something and I would be more than happy to discuss this with you. Please email me through the Ebay "Ask a Question" system or call me via my cell (304-951-7375). A $200 non-refundable deposit is required within 48 hours after the close of the auction. The balance within 2 weeks via cash or certified check. I am happy to store the Jeep for up to 30 days (unless other arrangements are made prior to the end of the auction). Vehicle will not be released and title will not be transferred until full payment has been made. The Jeep is located in Charleston, WV.

Sergio rethinks FCA-GM merger idea, dismisses critics
Sat, Dec 5 2015After many public overtures, Fiat Chrysler Automotive CEO Sergio Marchionne has claimed his company won't be making a hostile takeover bid for General Motors. This is despite widespread speculation that FCA's desire to merge was motivated by its allegedly dire situation. As one unnamed GM exec who spoke to Automotive News earlier this year put it, "Why should [GM] bail out FCA?" "We are not choking. We are in relatively decent shape," Marchionne told journalists attending an FCA shareholder meeting in Amsterdam, AN reports. "We have been publicly rebuffed, we have been rejected and you cannot force these things. I don't want to. At the moment, we have no intention to do anything hostile." Instead of focusing on merging with GM, or any other partners for that matter, FCA will refocus on implementing its ambitious five-year investment plan, which would see it dump $52 billion into its various brands, with a particular focus on Alfa Romeo, Maserati, and Jeep. So far the attempt has largely been unsuccessful, especially as it relates to the Italian brands. Earlier this week, additional reports emerged that claimed Alfa was pushing back the Giulia and an unnamed CUV while reassigning resources to updated versions of the Giulietta and MiTo hatchbacks. This is not the first time we've heard about trouble for the Giulia, of course. For Masearti, though, it was the first we'd heard of delays for Alfieri sports car, which allegedly won't appear in 2016, as promised. We can expect a proper breakdown of FCA's adjusted plans when Marchionne and Company reveal an updated product slate next month. Dodge revamping lineup with AWD Challenger and lighter Charger
Tue, Sep 6 2016Dodge's current lineup is aging rapidly. The Charger, for example, is going on 5 years old but its platform dates back to 2006. FCA, according to Automotive News, is working on revitalizing Dodge's lineup with the first of some new models debuting later this year. The report reveals plans for the majority of FCA's brands, but the most interesting bit of information is an all-wheel-drive model for the Dodge Challenger, which is being referred to as the GT AWD. Mopar unveiled the Challenger GT AWD Concept at SEMA last year as a concept, but it looks like the idea stuck. The vehicle is set to make its debut this fall and will lead the way for a wide-body, Hellcat-powered version that will be released in 2017. That model will be called the Challenger ADR. The entire Challenger lineup will be redesigned in 2018, which includes switching over to the lighter Giorgio platform - the same one that underpins the Alfa Romeo Guilia Dodge will also redesign the Charger to accommodate the new Giorgio platform in 2018. A new two-door convertible could debut in 2021, resurrecting the Barracuda moniker. The aging Dodge Durango will get a light refresh in 2017 with the addition of an SRT model, which Automotive News reports will feature a 6.4-liter V8 engine. Other changes are in store for other FCA brands, including the debut of full-size crossover in 2018 for Chrysler, which will be followed by a midsize crossover in 2019. The Jeep Compass and Wrangler will get a redesign for 2017, with the Cherokee getting a light makeover, as well. The Wrangler-based pickup truck, which we recently spotted testing, is set for its debut in 2018, while the Wagoneer will come out a year later. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is the all-wheel-drive Hellcat you've been waiting for
Sun, Apr 9 2017If the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT was the venerable SUV cranked to 10, the new Trackhawk goes to 11. Actually, make that 707, because the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is a Hellcat by another name. Under the hood is the same 707-horsepower supercharged V8 from the sinister corporate cousins Charger and Challenger. The torque rating drops just a bit to 645 pound feet, versus the 650 of the Hellcats, but we don't think many people will be too upset. Especially since Jeep claims the Trackhawk is capable of a 3.5-second 0-60 mph run and a quarter-mile time of 11.6 seconds. The former is right in line with the Challenger Hellcat. View 24 Photos The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk also offers a unique difference to the Hellcats, and its not the SUV body style. The Trackhawk is all-wheel-drive. Power goes from the supercharged V8 to an 8-speed automatic and a single-speed transfer case. There's also an electronic limited slip differential at the back. Jeep beefed up the transfer case with a wider chain that features forged sprockets. The rear drive shaft and half shafts have been strengthened to handle the extra power. Power is split 40/60 front and rear in the default automatic setting, and becomes more rear biased in more aggressive driving modes. In the sportiest "Track" mode, power is split 30/70. In the least aggressive "Snow" mode, power is split 50/50. The sportier drive modes also firm up suspension and decreases shift times. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Helping manage all the power is a high-performance suspension with adaptive Bilstein shocks. The suspension lowers the SUV a full inch compared with normal Grand Cherokees. Wheels are 20 inches in diameter and 10 inches wide wrapped in 295-millimeter wide tires, either all-seasons or optional three-seasons. An optional forged set of wheels is available, too, which Jeep says will save 12 pounds of weight. The wheels are stopped by Brembo six-piston calipers and 15.75-inch rotors up front, and four-piston calipers and 13.73-inch rotors out back. Jeep says the front brakes are the largest ever fitted to one of its vehicles. Visually, you'll be hard-pressed to tell a Grand Cherokee Trackhawk from the current SRT variant. The bumpers and fender flares are roughly the same. But a tell-tale sign is the lack of fog lights.
