This jeep turns heads as much as a supermodel. WARNING: Once you drive a V8 powered Wrangler, you will never settle for stock engines again!!!
1998 Jeep Wrangler, 5.3L Chevy Vortec engine with 4L60E transmission. Powertrain is from a 2003 Tahoe with 81k miles. Conversion parts from Novak, the kings of Jeep conversions. Too many mods to list, but here are some:
DANA 44 rear end from '03 Wrangler X (rear disc brakes), POWERTRAX rear locker, CORBEAU seats and harnesses, DAKOTA DIGITAL instruments, SKYJACKER 4" suspension lift, 1' body lift, TERA-FLEX control arms, sway bar system, transfer case linkage, HD radiator (NOVAK) with 3000cfm electric fan, BESTOP top, trunk and rear cargo rack, CEPEK wheels, many more. The entire tub has been coated with truck liner and sound deadening. No A/C, but wiring harness is set up for it. Novak makes an A/C kit for about $1,000.00. This is a unique, fast and powerful Jeep. I constantly get comments about how good it looks or how quick it is. I have had many Jeeps and this one is the best by far. Rides extremely well for a lifted Jeep and was my daily driver for the last 3 years (I travel more than 200 days a year; hence the low mileage).
I bought this Jeep on EBAY Mar, 2009. The seller told me that it had been totaled, but the frame was not bent. I was only home for 15 hours, so didn't have the time to get it checked. I didn't like being lied to about it, so I'm putting it here. The frame was bent, but it has been professionally straightened as part of the conversion. Conversion was completed in May, 2010. This is a RESTORED SALVAGE TITLE Jeep, but you can't tell by looking or driving. All body parts are new except the tub, driver's side door and roll bar. NOTE: Vehicle is OBDII compliant and passes AZ emissions. Aftermarket GM chips work and GM error codes apply.

On Jan-30-13 at 21:39:12 PST, seller added the following information:

I have over $30k invested in this Jeep but need to sell it to finish my next conversion; '79 MGB Ford 302.

Stellantis reports surprising 2020 results, is 'off to a flying start'

Wed, Mar 3 2021

MILAN — Low global car inventories and cost cuts should boost Stellantis's profit margins this year, though a shortage of semiconductors and investments in electric vehicles could weigh on results, the newly-formed automaker said on Wednesday. The forecast came as Stellantis, created by the January merger of Peugeot-maker PSA and Fiat Chrysler (FCA), reported better-than-expected results for 2020 that sent its shares up around 3% in morning trading. "Stellantis gets off to a flying start and is fully focused on achieving the full promised synergies (from the merger)," Chief Executive Carlos Tavares said in a statement. Stellantis is the world's fourth largest carmaker, with 14 brands including Fiat, Peugeot, Opel, Jeep, Ram and Maserati. It said 2021 results should be helped by three new high-margin Jeep vehicles in North America and a strong pricing environment there. The U.S. market has driven profits for years at FCA and starts off as the strongest part of Stellantis. The group's guidance assumes no more significant lockdowns caused by the global COVID-19 pandemic, which shuttered auto plants around the world last spring. Stellantis should also get a lift as its starts to implement a plan aimed at delivering over 5 billion euros a year in savings, without closing any plants. Tavares has also pledged not to cut jobs. But a pandemic-related global shortage of semiconductors, used for everything from maximizing engine fuel economy to driver-assistance features, could hurt business. Auto industry executives have said the shortage should ease by the second half of 2021. Stellantis said its "electrification offensive" could also weigh on results this year. Automakers are racing to develop electric vehicles to meet tighter CO2 emissions targets in Europe and this week Volvo joined a growing number of carmakers aiming for a fully-electric line-up by 2030. Stellantis plans to have fully-electric or hybrid versions of all of its vehicles available in Europe by 2025, broadly in line with plans at top rivals such as Volkswagen and Renault-Nissan, although Stellantis has further to go to meet that goal. The carmaker is targeting an adjusted operating profit margin of 5.5%-7.5% this year. That compares with a 5.3% aggregated margin last year: 4.3% at FCA and 7.1% at PSA excluding a controlling stake in parts maker Faurecia, which is set to be spun-off from Stellantis shortly.

Auto critic calls out Corvette, Mustang and Cherokee faithful

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

Most automotive purists fear change, but not without reason. Change, after all, did kill big-block V8s, along with most station wagons and manual transmissions. But change has also brought with it far more performance, safety and fuel economy - not to mention ridding the world of shag carpet interiors, bias-ply tires and those horrible motorized seatbelts of the early '90s.
By this time next year, the Chevy Corvette, Jeep Cherokee and next-generation Ford Mustang will all be on sale and will all, in some way, have angered or offended purists. To those critics, Mark Phelan of the Detroit Free Press is preemptively telling them to stop complaining - at least until they've all been driven. From the Corvette's square taillights and the Cherokee's radical nose to whatever pony car purists will harp on the 2015 Mustang for, Phelan's column points out the positives of automotive evolution and the negatives of staying the course for too long. That's fair enough, but do you think Phelan is on point, or all wet? Head on over to the Detroit Free Press to read his words, then have your say in Comments.

Experience Jeep's 75th Anniversary at Easter Jeep Safari | AutoblogVR

Tue, Aug 30 2016

It may not have been known as a Jeep just yet, but it was all the way back in 1941 that the very first Willys MB quarter-ton 4x4 rolled down the assembly line in Toledo, Ohio. That General Purpose American military machine would go on to become one of the most recognizable vehicles in the world. And the name Jeep, which was adopted for the off-roader by soldiers in World War II, has been famous ever since. In the 75 years since that first military Jeep was born, the brand has built a sterling reputation for off-road prowess. Jeep's range-topping vehicle, the Grand Cherokee, bears almost no resemblance to its military forebears. But that doesn't mean it's not ready to leave the pavement and get dirty. See what we mean in our latest Autoblog VR episode. That wasn't the only Jeep vehicle we took for a spin while celebrating the brand's 75th anniversary at the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah. Jeep fans have been salivating over the prospect of a pickup truck for years, and the company has finally confirmed that it's coming as a 2018 model. It will be built at Jeep's spiritual home in Toledo, Ohio, the same city that spawned the company's military roots. Even though Jeep's Crew Chief Concept isn't the actual pickup that will go into production, it's still an awesome ride, and we were happy our virtual-reality camera gear could capture it in its natural habitat. Each week, new episodes will launch on the AutoblogVR App. We'll preview them here on Autoblog, but for the full immersive experience, head over to the app, which you can download for free from the App store and Google Play.
