This is a project Jeep that I am listing for a friend of mine.  I don't usually do this, but the reserve price that he wants on this Jeep is so low that the winning bidder could part it out and still be okay.  It has a 258 inline 6 cylinder engine that runs good.  It was tuned up last fall with a new valve cover gasket and new radiator installed.  The Jeep does not have a transmission installed now.  It has the factory 4-speed, aluminum case transmission that 2nd gear messed up in along with a good factory transfer case.  The Jeep also has another good 3-speed transmission and transfer case out of a CJ-5 that is included with the Jeep.  The frame on this Jeep is rust-free.  The  tub has some rust in the floor pans and a couple of places in each rocker panel.  The Jeep has power steering and power disc  brakes.  The back seat is included with the Jeep along with all the seat belts.  The hardtop has slight damage on the passengers side, but I think a body man with fiberglass knowledge could repair it pretty easy.  The tailgate and hatch are perfect.  The doors and all glass is good.  All the heater controls are still in the Jeep.  It has 15X8 steel wheels.  It has a spring over conversion on the front axle, but the rear hasn't been done yet.  All the drive shafts, crossmembers and bolts are in the back of the Jeep.  This Jeep isn't too far gone that it couldn't be restored or the transmission and transfer case installed and driven as is.  Feel free to ask anything and I will answer to the best of my knowledge.  If I don't know the answer, I will find out and get back to you within one day of your question.  Thanks for looking and happy bidding.

Texas student drives Barbie Jeep to school after DWI

Fri, Sep 4 2015

A Texas college student who lost her license when she was charged with a DWI this spring found a creative way of getting around campus. Tara Monroe, 20, is a student at the University of Texas at Austin. She had her driver's license automatically suspended when she refused a breathalyzer test after leaving a Waka Flocka concert on March 4. He dad took her car away and left her with a bike. But that just wasn't classy enough for Monroe. "Riding a bike around campus sucks," she told MySA.com. "Like really sucks." She searched Craigslist to find an alternative and settled on a bright pink Fisher-Price Barbie Jeep Power Wheel toy to help lug her stuff around campus. She named it after the original owner, a little girl named Charlene. The unorthodox ride has turned Monroe into a minor celebrity. Pictures of her slowly making her way around campus in the toy car have been popping up on social media. "This is the best way I could have gotten my 15 minutes of fame," she said. "Basically, it was the best decision I've made in college, yet..." The Barbie Jeep has a 12-volt battery and only goes about five miles per hour. Monroe says she loves the attention she is getting from her immature hijinks. Jeep Wrangler likely to get aluminum body, will stay in Toledo

Mon, 27 Oct 2014

Perhaps more than any other vehicle currently for sale in the United States, the Jeep Wrangler is viewed by purist fans as a vehicle that simply must maintain the status quo. In this case, that means a body-on-frame design, solid axles, a relatively large engine sitting up front and a removable top. It's always been that way, and it always will be.
Maybe.
According to the most recent reports, the next-generation Jeep will continue to soldier forth with a full steel chassis underneath its stamped bodywork. The biggest change, reports Automotive News, will be that said panels will be hewn from aluminum instead of steel, a seismic shift of a transition not unlike what's happened with the new Ford F-150. Because it won't be a unibody, the SUV will likely continue to be assembled in Toledo, OH as it (almost) always has been - the latter has been a source of heartburn in recent weeks for the Northwestern city in the Buckeye State.

Chrysler's Jefferson North plant builds 5-millionth SUV [w/video]

Thu, 15 Aug 2013

Chrysler's Jefferson North Assembly Plant opened in 1992 for production of the first Jeep Grand Cherokee, but in the subsequent years, the Detroit plant has gone on to produce some of the company's biggest SUVs including the Jeep Commander and Dodge Durango. Earlier this week, the plant produced its five-millionth SUV, which, fittingly, was a Grand Cherokee.
Celebrating the plant's five-millionth unit, the silver 2014 Grand Cherokee was promptly donated to the USO. In addition to this milestone SUV, Chrysler also had a near-perfect 1993-95 ZJ Grand Cherokee on hand for the photo op. Scroll down for the Chrysler press release as well as a video showing some of the speeches from the celebration.
