1979 Jeep CJ7 Renegade
304 rebuilt crate engine several years ago. 3 speed shift as it should Thank you for viewing my auction for a decent original paint 1979 CJ7 V8 Renegade. I hold a clear NC title in hand. This is a very straight forward what you see is what you get type of jeep. The pictures do not really make it look any better or any worse in appearance than in person. It does have some rust as shown in the pictures but I would not consider it rotted out or beyond repair. Frame is very solid. The driveline is solid and works as it. There are no drips on the floor under the jeep. (i do check to make sure it has oil). The tires are showing a little age but appear safe and have nearly new tread. Engine runs well with no noises or smoking. The carb is a little sluggish but nothing to prevent it from being driven. Lights and gauges could use some repair. Please no questions regarding if the Jeep will make it back to your location. I'm sure it probably will just fine but that's not up to me to decide. Low reserve as I look forward to an easy transaction on giving this great CJ7 a new home. Jeep will be sold as is where is. There is no warranty. The Jeep is in running driving condition as stated. Federal investigations about safety of rear-mounted gas tanks is nothing new
Sun, 09 Jun 2013The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Chrysler are currently making waves in our daily news feeds due to a disagreement over the safety of a few million Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee models. Specifically, NHTSA has asked Chrysler to recall the SUVs because of the location of their fuel tanks, but you may be interested to know that requests such as this are nothing new.
Besides the two Jeep models, NHTSA has launched investigations over the years in such models as the Ford Crown Victoria (and its police-car counterpart), GM pickups built between 1972 and 1987, and rather famously the Ford Pinto.
Understanding how automakers and NHTSA have dealt with fuel-tank-safety concerns in the past may offer a better understanding of how Chrysler and the government agency will settle their current dispute. Check out the complete article from The Detroit News here.
Chrysler extending production of current Dodge Avenger, Jeep Wrangler, Grand Caravan
Wed, 24 Jul 2013Are you hesitant to pull the trigger on a brand new Dodge Avenger in hopes that a new one will be coming? Well, don't hold your breath. According to The Detroit News, Chrysler will be extending production of the current Avenger sedan through the end of 2015.
Originally, we heard that the company would kill the Avenger to better focus its midsize sedan efforts on the Chrysler 200 replacement. But then new reports stated there would indeed be an Avenger successor, and that we could see it as early as next January. This Detroit News report cites supplier sources confirming the extension of Avenger production, though Chrysler has not released an official statement on the matter.
These same suppliers say that the current Jeep Wrangler will live on through mid-2018 - that's right, another five years. The Detroit News reports that a replacement for the iconic, go-anywhere Jeep was due in mid-2016.
Jeep Cherokee finally dealer-bound
Tue, 22 Oct 2013We had our First Drive of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee last month, but it appears that prospective buyers won't have too much longer to finally get time behind the wheel of the new small Jeep.
Automotive News is reporting that after a two-month delay, Jeep dealers will finally start receiving their first shipments of the new Cherokee, in the next 10 days. A Chrysler spokesperson confirmed to Autoblog that the Cherokee is indeed on its way to Jeep dealers.
According to AN, about 23,000 Cherokees have been built since production commenced back in June, but potential powertrain issues forced Jeep to make adjustments to the Cherokee along the way. Automotive News says that in order to make sure there are no issues with the Cherokee before it reaches customers, it is testing each vehicle after it rolls off the assembly line at a rented test track near the vehicle's Toledo North Assembly Plant.
