1988 Jaguar Vanden Plas.  65k miles, all the Vanden Plas options.  $44,800 new price in 1988.  Nada book low end retail is $5700, high end retail is $9400.  I am a furniture dealer & bought the car at an estate sale to resell.  The car was driven low on transmission fluid for some time, and the original transmission was slipping.  I had a rebuilt transmission professionally installed along with a new right rear strut, and new brake pads.  (Have receipts).  The right rear door will not open from the outside, & the window will not go up or down.  The dash indicator shows a circuit 1 failure & states low brake pad, low brake fluid, and bulb light out, even though they were all replaced.  Circuit 1 is the brake system circuit and I was told that there was more than likely a sensor within that system that is faulty and that the mechanics of the vehicle are not affected by what the circuit indicates.  I have driven the car approximately 500 miles since the repairs, & it rides and drives fine.  The mechanics of the vehicle seem not affected by what the dash indicator shows.  After the described necessary repairs, I have $3200 in the car & just couldn't put more money into it to fix the small issues.  (May not get my money out of it as it is).  Car is automatic, leather heated seats, cold a/c, new tires less than 2,000 miles on them, original paint in average condition for its age, hood is fading. Interior has no rips or cuts in the leather & no cracks in the dash.  Title is clean, clear, & in my name. Clean vehicle history report.  NO RESERVE PRICE!  This vehicle will sell to the highest bidder.  $500 non refundable paypal deposit due within 24hrs after the auction ends.  Balance due in cash, & pick up of vehicle within 7 days after auction or car will be relisted.  If you have abnormal negative feedback, please do not bid, it will be cancelled.  If you have fewer than 100 buy/sell transactions on ebay, please contact me before bidding, or it will be cancelled.  IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO PAY FOR THIS AUCTION, PLEASE DO NOT BID AT ALL!!!!  I WILL LEAVE YOU NEGATIVE FEEDBACK!

Jaguar I-Pace EV has a new pedestrian warning sound: Listen to it here

Thu, Oct 11 2018

Jaguar's production of its first electric car means it also has to deal with a problem everybody else has been trying to solve: noise, or rather, the lack thereof. People can hear an engine at low speeds when they're walking along a sidewalk. The same can't be said for silent-operating electric cars. We wrote about Chevrolet's latest solution to the noise problem a few weeks back, and now Jaguar is sharing what it came up with for the I-Pace. The noise it didn't use is almost more interesting than the one it did, though. Jag says its first iteration was meant to be spacecraft/UFO inspired, but apparently it was so convincing that people tended to look up at the sky instead of at the road. Engineers switched it to what seems like a pretty general hum sound for production. Take a listen yourself in the video above — you'll hear the noise at the 40-second mark, and a few other spots after that. The sound is emitted from a speaker behind the grille at speeds up to about 12 mph. It'll change in pitch and volume to correspond to the increasing or decreasing speed of the vehicle — it even changes tone when you shift into reverse to signal a change in direction. Jaguar says the noise is no longer needed at speeds above 12 mph because tire and wind noise become sufficient enough at that speed. Chevy turns the noise off on the Volt at about 20 mph, however, showing that manufacturers haven't really come to a consensus on what should be happening. A U.S. law that hasn't gone into effect yet will ask manufacturers to keep the noise at up to 18.6 mph, though. We happen to be partial to the jaguar growl heard right at the end of the video as a warning sound. That's how you make an entrance with a Jaguar. These kinds of systems are necessary to warn those who might be blind or visually impaired, but distracted walkers are a huge demographic of people needing a warning too. Everybody walks around with their head buried in a phone nowadays, making silent vehicles a hazard of our own habits. Jaguar says it specifically engineered the noise so that it doesn't intrude upon the cabin, so only pedestrians are bothered by the hum when slowly plodding through cities. 2018 Jaguar XJ stars in 'Game of Drones'

Mon, Sep 18 2017

Looking for a fun way to put the its 2018 XJ in the spotlight, Jaguar turned to a fresh form of racing. The automaker placed three of the long-wheelbase XJL models in a studio, and surrounded them with illuminated, door-shaped gates. Then Jaguar brought in a pair of professional drone racers to compete in the glowing circuit, which includes pass-through of the rear of the XJL cabins. The drone pilots, donning VR headsets, sat in the rear of the 575-horsepower version of the XJL, the Jaguar XJR575, and launched the drones from the trunk of the car. They raced the drones through the gates and through the cars at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour. "The course was a great test, but the fact we were able to go at such speeds proves how much space the doors of the Jaguar XJL gave us," said the winning drone pilot, Brett Collis. "Despite having to fly through the cabin, we were still pushing the drones to their top speeds." The "Game of Drones," as Jaguar dubbed the race, took place at Alexandra Palace in London, but the automaker is bringing similar experiences to more locations. Jaguar plans to go on an "Art of Performance Tour," where it will bring drone and Smart Cone driving challenges to the public, free of charge.

Jaguar I-Pace named World Car of the Year

Wed, Apr 17 2019

NEW YORK — The Jaguar I-Pace has been named World Car of the Year, an award meant to honor the most significant new car introduction and conferred by an international jury of automotive journalist judges. The group announced the winners of additional awards at the New York Auto Show, with the Audi A7 named World Luxury Car of the Year, the McLaren 720S recognized as World Performance Car of the Year, and the Suzuki Jimny named World Urban Car. The I-Pace additionally took home two other awards: World Car Design of the Year and World Green Car of the Year. The WCOTY team of 86 jurors hail from 24 countries, and the organization is independent and not tied to any publication. This is the 15th year for the awards. For this year's World Car of the Year award the top three finalists were the I-Pace, the Audi E-Tron, and the Volvo S60/V60. Previous WCOTY winners were the Volvo XC60 in 2018 and the Jaguar F-Pace in 2017. View 74 Photos
