Clean, completely rust-free 1989 JAGUAR XJ series sedan. This is a Van Den Plas Edition, with most Power and luxury options available at the time, to include a dealer-installed, post-mounted Cellular phone~!

This XJ6 has been a California Jaguar all of its life since being sold new at the former Cole European Land Rover-Jaguar dealership in Burlingame, CA ( now relocated to Walnut Creek). It resided in the Bay area all of its life, and had sat in dry storage for the last year, undriven.

The gentleman who owned this XJ6 was an avid Jaguar enthusiast and owned about 5 other Jaguars to include this one. Sadly, he took ill and passed away two years ago and the vehicle was sold off along with the rest of the Estate. I acquired this Jaguar along with a 73' XJS and a 67' S type Saloon through a purchase opportunity through a licensed CA auto dealer friend of mine here in the Bay area ( so it was NOT my mom's or grandparents, and do not wish to misrepresent it as anything else).

Personally, I was initially very skeptical about the mileage, and according to California DMV records, it has 150K last reported in 2013, as that is about the last time it was driven. I am fairly certain that the mileage is indeed accurate to the age of the car, not the 10K shown in the instrument cluster. The electronic cluster was more than likely replaced at some point in the last couple of years. I have a current CARFAX report available free of charge.

The original 3.6L straight 6 cylinder engine starts up immediately, idles perfect and drives very well, smoothly as a Jaguar should. There were no noises, leaks or strange sounds in the engine that I have seen. The automatic transmission shifts well through all gears. There are NO rearend, axle nor differential howling or noises.

The only things that I feel are blemishes on its otherwise appearance and overall condition are:

* AC needs to be recharged, expected after all these years

* There was some sort of modification of the brake booster unit, with either an earlier or later unit. Looks done a long time ago ( when I spoke to the wife of the former owner, she stated that the car has not been touched for a few years, and her husband liked to tinker, thus I do not know if he did the mod or someone else did. She kept paying the registration until a year ago when the husband passed on).

* The onboard computer display reads "brake failure code" which I think is related to the modification mentioned previously. The brakes do work fine.

I do not claim to be a Jaguar expert ( I am a Land Rover guy) by any extent, but based on what I see, I feel that this Jaguar is sharp, runs well and it would be an EXCELLENT value for the Jaguar aficionado, especially compared to all the junk that I see listed on Ebay~!

This XJ6 is a very solid driver, with ABSOLUTELY NO RUST, completely original and in good running order. You cannot find Jags like this anymore.

As expected, this XJ-6 Van Den Plas comes with all available power options to include Power windows ( all four work),Power seats (both work and all adjustments do as well), Power mirrors, AC, Cruise control, Central locking, wiper delay, etc. No engine issues or other drama.

The powertrain runs GREAT and the engine hums along fine, with no internal or exhaust noises. The automatic transmission shifts fine into all gears as previously mentioned.

BEAUTIFUL, factory-original Jaguar wire wheels with MICHELIN radial tires. mounted on them. The tires have approximately 80% tread remaining and NO cracks, brittleness or dry rot.

Its factory finish still shines nicely throughout the vehicle, including both the roofline and the hood. A couple of small areas show mild aging of the clearcoat ( very minor but I would like to point it out nevertheless; it does not show in the pictures). Normal age for a Jaguar of this vintage. ZERO RUST.

The interior upholstery is in remarkable shape, with NO rips, tears or splits of the leather, in ANY areas of the seats, door panels or other upholstery, to include the top of the back seat and the driver's seat. NO age splits or seam separation. CLEAN carpeting throughout, to include the trunk area.

There is a set of "furry" ( I don't know what else to call them..) carpeted floor mats for both the front and rear floors. In addition, there is a straight-on 1980's two-piece COLGAN hood bra.

Feel free to EM or call with serious, pertinent questions or inquiries. I acan be reached at (650) 430-4660 no later than 8pm PST, please.

Straightforward CARFAX REPORT. CLEAR California title. NON-SMOKER, NO pets or children in it. Always adult-owned, and its condition reflects it.

Overall, a straight, good-running and good looking classic Jaguar XJ6 for a modest, low opening bid and no reserve.  Runs and drives very well and it looks very nice, specially taking into account it has NEVER been restored.

* I reserve the right to end this listing at any time prior to the end of the auction, should an offer or a BUY-IT-NOW offer present itself.

I am glad to assist with NATIONWIDE or OVERSEAS delivery at the most economical shipping rate available. I can do all coordination from here, and you pay the transporter cost directly to the shipper upon receipt of the Jag.

Should you be the winning bidder, I would like to receive payment within THREE business days, please. Cashiers check or Bank draft are preferred. Personal, business or annuity checks may be utilized, but must clear funds source prior to any transportation arrangements being made. Another option is a Bank wire transfer to the local CHASE Bank branch here in town. That expedites the process considerably and allows for faster shipping arrangements.

Upon receipt of payment, I will overnight the title and Bill of sale to the winning bidder.

       Thank you for your interest~!

Jaguar Land Rover building new R&D center for hybrids, EVs, autonomous cars

Wed, 25 Sep 2013

The success of Jaguar Land Rover in recent years has largely been down to a resurgent product lineup, but a recent move into the research and development will see the British-based, Indian-owned brands take the fight to its German rivals more aggressively than ever before.
JLR is investing 50 million pounds ($80,345,000, as of this writing) in a joint R&D center in central England. The move will more than triple its staff dedicated to research, from 150 to 500, with Wolfgang Epple, JLR's Director of Research and Technology telling Automotive News Europe, "In order to play among the big animals in automotive and to be anchored in the mind of customers you have to have offered something unique, to be first in market. We want to be one of the key premier automotive manufacturers."
Jaguar Land Rover's 50-million-pound contribution represents more than half of the 94-million-pound tab, on the so-called National Automotive Innovation Campus. Based at Warwick University, Tata's European Technical Center, Warwick Manufacturing Group and the Higher Education Funding Council, an agency of the British government, are all chipping in for the facility.

Jaguar C-X17 Concept teased before Frankfurt

Sun, 01 Sep 2013

Just ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show, which begins September 10, Jaguar is teasing the reveal of a design study to introduce its new advanced vehicle architecture. Dubbed the C-X17, the mysterious concept "illustrates the diversity of vehicles that could be produced using this architecture, which underpins the innovative future of the Jaguar brand."
While it's not entirely clear what this architecture involves or what type of vehicle the C-X17 may be, this reveal is reminiscent of Jaguar's decision to unveil the C-X16 concept, a hybrid electric sports car, in Frankfurt in 2011. From the looks of the teaser image Jaguar released (click above to enlarge), we're guessing the C-X17 will be something between a low-slung crossover and a sporty wagon. But we won't have to wait too long to find out - Jaguar is streaming the live pre-show reveal to invited guests on its Facebook page on Monday, Sept. 9.
In addition to the C-X17, Jaguar be showing off the performance-oriented XJR and XFR-S, and, of course, the F-Type convertible. Scroll down for the official press release.
