1985 Jaguar Xj6 Sedan, Sold With No Reserve on 2040-cars
Saint Helens, Oregon, United States
You're looking at a 1985 Jaguar XJ6 sedan. This particular one is an automatic, white with black leather interior. It's been an Oregon car for most of its life, and it currently has 153k miles on the body and roughly 40k on the 4.2 I6 engine. It's my daily driver, so the mileage is increasing weekly. Selling as my new daily driver (a Rover P6) is finally roadworthy.
Condition-wise... it's in pretty good original condition The paint looks good with no peeling, the seats are in great condition, and the carpets/headliner/wood are perfect. It's in excellent daily driver condition; I wouldn't hesitate to drive it absolutely anywhere. I've completed several 500+ mile trips in it with no problems. However, in order to make it a show car, it does need a couple of things. Firsty, the windshield is cracked (see pic), the A/C doesn't work (compressor comes on, air doesn't blow cold), there's a 1" surface rust spot just below the windshield, and the passenger seat has a 1" rip in it.The paint is also quite stone chipped on the front valance. In the last few months, it's had both front and rear brakes, new wires/plugs and lifetime K&N air filter, fluids change about 500 miles ago incl cooling system flush / new thermostat, and a new battery (the old one was from 1996!). The previous owner told me the engine had been replaced with a rebuilt unit at roughly 110k miles; the gearbox is the original BW66 unit. It starts, runs, drives, and stops just fine. The transmission shifts smoothly through the gears, the car starts first time every time and has good oil pressure both hot and cold. Uprated KYB shocks and newer bushings all round. Custom straight-through exhaust system. Currently running without the air pump hooked up, though parts for this can be included if required. Electrically.. the lights, cruise control, heater, power windows, power door locks, power sunroof, and all the fun fuel tank switchover stuff work perfectly. It's currently got a Sony CD/MP3 stereo head unit fitted, along with 5.25" Focal component speakers in the doors and rear deck, and an Infinity Reference amp mounted under the passenger seat. Usual stuff.. please ask any and all questions before bidding, deposit expected within 48hrs of auction end, full payment within seven days, and car must be picked up from zip code 97051. I'm more than happy to assist with storage and/or shipping if you need it. Thanks for reading! |

Jaguar Land Rover creates new Special Operations division for halo vehicles, bespoke commissions
Fri, 13 Jun 2014Jaguar Land Rover has announced that a new division of the British manufacturer will be dedicated to "bespoke commissions," as well as heritage products and apparel. Oh, and the new Special Operations division will also be behind JLR's halo cars from now on.
It's that last one that is the most tantalizing, as the last real halo product to see production from Jaguar was the XJ220. The Range Rover, meanwhile, has always had its own kind of halo reputation, although the Land Rover brand itself has never really gotten into the game with a dedicated model.
According to JLR, the new halo models will focus on ultra-high performance and luxury with a limited run of vehicles. The bespoke models, meanwhile, will give the wealthiest customers full sway over how vehicles are outfitted, with unique paints, trims and other accessories. The new SpecOps division will be run by John Edwards.
Jaguar's design boss wants to build another sports car model
Thu, Dec 5 2019The global sports car segment is facing a strong, glacial headwind, but Jaguar believes smoother waters are right around the corner. One of the company's top executives predicted the market will recover in the coming years, and he wants his team to be ahead of the curve when that happens. "Jaguar will always build sports cars. I'd love to do more than one," affirmed Julian Thomson, the man who replaced Ian Callum at the head of the brand's design department, in an interview with British magazine Auto Express. The only sports car currently in the Jaguar portfolio is the F-Type. While enthusiasts still love sports cars, the run-of-the-mill buyers that keep automakers profitable have rejected them in favor of crossovers and SUVs. And, requests for cleaner, more efficient cars make developing fun cars considerably more difficult; even Mazda is looking into taking the Miata into hybrid or electric territory. Jaguar faces the same challenges, but Thomson expects the sports car segment will rise up from its ashes when motorists realize they're trapped in a sea of crossovers. "In this day and age of electrification and autonomous technology, a part of me thinks there may be a resurgence of people enjoying transportation for transportation's sake, and driving for driving's sake," he said. "Whether that makes the market bigger I don’t know, but I think there is a threat to volume production cars, and they are going to struggle to find a position on what they do. IÂ’d hope that truly special and luxury cars, sports cars, will find a place where they have the option to be more exotic." He stopped short of confirming a second sports car is under development, so it's far too early to pinpoint the segment it would compete in. In the meantime, Jaguar just gave the F-Type a facelift (pictured), and its vehicle development team has already started working on the model's successor. The rumor mill has started spinning; we've heard reports of the nameplate pulling a Corvette by going mid-engined, adopting BMW's 4.4-liter V8, and getting a battery-electric powertrain. The latter option would slot neatly into Jaguar's electrification push, but Thomson hinted it's easier said than done. He explained making an electric sports car with a huge amount of power, like the 2,000-horsepower Lotus Evija, is not the answer.
2021 Jaguar F-Type First Drive | Can we interest you in some loud?
Wed, Aug 12 2020The 2021 Jaguar F-Type is not a perfect car. There are some cracks in the armor, flaws worth pointing out and nits to pick for car reviewers like us. It’s not a Jaguar version of the unflappable Porsche 911, nor is it a British muscle car. The F-Type has split the difference since the carÂ’s introduction for 2014, and now the two-seaterÂ’s first big update is upon us. Ian Callum left Jaguar more than a year ago, but he was still responsible for this revamped design. Few cars featured better styling than the previous F-Type, and the same can be said this time around. Part of that can be attributed to JaguarÂ’s light touch approach. Horizontal headlights and a new grille differentiate the new F-TypeÂ’s face from the last one. The clamshell hood remains, but its sculpting is less prominent and pointy than before. Combined, these new elements result in a softer, gentler face — Jaguar calls it “liquid metal.” At the back, new, I-Pace-inspired LED taillights now sit flush with the massaged bumper. ItÂ’s still an obvious sports car design, but Jaguar has thrown away the edgy, aggressive persona of the previous F-Type. Forced to pick sides, weÂ’ll take the previous generation – updating a brilliant design is no easy task – but it remains a beautiful car. Onlookers certainly agreed, as our Sorrento Yellow tester drew a colossal amount of attention. One can thank JaguarÂ’s ear-shattering exhaust for some of that attention, too. How much shattering occurs depends on the engine, of course, and the number of pipes poking out of the bumper. Besides the sound, this is also the best way to tell different F-Types apart. Four-cylinder models get a single, central exhaust; V6-equipped cars get a dual central exhaust, and the V8-powered F-Type R continues on with its quad exhaust pushed out to the edges of the rear valance. 2021 Jaguar F-Type P300 View 30 Photos That's the version we drove. Powered by the same 5.0-liter supercharged V8 previously found in the F-Type SVR, the 2021 F-Type R produces 575 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, an increase of 24 and 14, respectively. It's then a massive drop to the two engines below, which says more about the R than the unchanged but still amply endowed other F-Types. The base P300 (gray car in the gallery above) is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 296 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, while the R-Dynamic P380 and its 3.0-liter supercharged V6 produces 380 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque.
